War is just a series of battles

Well, if you care about the meaning of both words, here you go!

Battles are usually fought between two/few more foes. It is characteristically short term.

Wars are of bigger impact, between countries/nations, and of devastating magnitude. It's large scale, lengthy in duration and it has long term impacts. Simply put, Wars
are bigger than battles.


Ever heard of people who score a little short term victory and lose a bigger tussle? Like how Osunbor was governor of Edo state then, but his victory got invalidated by the appeal/tribunal and Oshiomole won overall at last?

Sentence application: That's why you hear people say "He won the battle but lost the war"

Battle is the actual fight, while war is the series of battle.

You must win many battles to win a war

The individual clashes or fighting to take over a position is battle.
War is won when one side has taken most positions in battles and the enemy is powerless

Battles are subsets of a war.
