hello nairalander's grammarian.

Am a little confused of the use of this apostrophe

do we say charles's bag or charles' bag.

do we say james's car or james' car.

what option are we going to choose when both are present in the options.

for example.

1 .THE PEN WHICH YOU HAVE JUST PICKED IS .................

A.CHARLES' B.CHARLES'S C.CHARLE'S

2. THIS IS .......................BAG.

A. FRANCIS'S B.FRANCIS' C. FRANCI'S

1.A ..2 B. when a name ends with S, the apostrophe "s" need not be added, use only the apostrophe(')sign. e.g JESUS(Noun). You can't say JESUS'S(This is wrong) it is Jesus'. This explanation is subject to further reviews and accessment

When you want to show possesion with a word that ends with S the apostrophe will come after S. For example : This is James' car. If the word doesn't ends S you put the apostrophe before the S. For example : This is Daniel's car.

the book says there are two forms .

1.there will be additional "s" and an apostrophe b4 that S .E.G CHARLES'S BAG.

2. There will not be additional S but there will be an apostrophe e.g.....CHARLES' BAG.
