Thanks alot

I really appreciate, I will research more as advised

Blackbuddy:

Hi, it depends on which bridging program you sign on for and the way it is structured. Each bridging program is different and may provide you with an assessment of your education and skills, industrial or workplace experience, skills training or targeted academic training programs, preparation for a licence or certification examination and/or language training for your profession. You will not get paid with most bridging programs, they are mostly in-class trainings. For instance in Ontario, YOU PAY to participate in bridging programs though they are subsidised by the provincial government. Now a few bridging programs have a work placement feature where you get to gain real world experience at the end of the in-class portion. Some of the employers that your training provider partners with MAY offer some stipend for when you are in their organisation, some will not pay you anything. You are there to gain from the experience, the exposure. All bridging programs are not the same so it depends on the make up of the particular one you sign up for. You could also research internships where some of the employers whom you intern with could offer some pay. By researching the various bridging/intern programs available in your intended city/province and making enquiries, you'll get to know the full details of the various programs.

Hi Muchaio,

I also got the request to pay with certified cheque but I wish to pay with my dollar card. I have registered already with my Nigerian address. Can I edit my profile by removing my Nigerian address and adding my cousin's canadian address? Do I also have to fill in her Canadian phone number instead of my Nigerian cell number under contact information? I hope using the Canadian address will not pose a problem for me later on?

Did you use your Canadian address for both contact address and billing address?

How much were you charged in dollars with the inclusion of GST & HST?

Kindly advise. Thanks

Muchaio:

I also had the request to send certified cheque for the Tax & Law course. Was however able to bypass and pay with my card by using a Canadian address to register. Had to pay GST & HST tho but I was able to register and conclude within 2 days.

Hello everyone!

Please I am in urgent need to get these questions answered.

1. What is the best way to travel with my POF? Can I deposit it in a US Dollar Domiciliary account?

2. Is it better to rent a place to live from Naija or to get to Canada first?

3. Who has any info about Etobicoke area. Is is a nice place to live?

4. Where is the best place to purchase travel health insurance in Naija, or it's not necessary for Canada?

May God bless whoever responds to my questions abundantly. (and others too)

Not sure you can get a direct flight from Nigeria to Canada, unless you need a PRIVATE JET!.... To get to Canada from Nigeria, you would have to deal with stop overs either in US, Ethiopia, etc......

1. You can get PTA worth of 4K USD and change ur balance POF from BDC. Meaning u will carry all ur POF in USD cash and declare at immigration that you have over 10k USD cash. You may also decide to save it in your USD Domiciliary account and when you get to Canada, open a bank account and do transfer.

2. Yes, if you can. You can begin to search on rentfaster.ca and when you find what you like, you may call the landlord and plus with the help of a landed senior who can help you go and inspect it and conclude the transaction. Renting your own place before landing is cheaper and gives you comfort that you are going directly to your home from the airport. Otherwise, you get an air bnb accommodation for a week or two till u are able to get your own place.
The truth is, if you're yet to get your own home, you won't be settled.

3. I don't know

4. I don't know.
Other landed seniors can weigh in.

Good day folks. I can see the ministry has grown greatly while I've been away. God bless us all and prosper us in this new land we have decided to call our own.

Please I would like advice on the right steps to take in applying for a visa for my mother in law to come over. I specifically need to know if I should apply for the super visa or for a regular visitors visa I.e which is faster to process. She shouldn't b staying more than 6 months for this visit. Also need to know if she needs to have purchased a ticket before applying I.e as evidence that she will b returning back to naija. I just need someone who has done it before to guide me through abeg. You guys are the best source of relevant correct info since the invention of Google. Biko help a brother out. May God bless our hustle

there's a canadian tourist visa thread here https://www.nairaland.com/2103860/canada-visit-tourist-visa-discussion However, choosing to apply for a supervisa or tourist visa is all up to you depending on how long you intend for her to stay at a time as well as if you meet the supervisa requirements. A trv is pretty straightforward, you give her a letter of invitation, copies of both sides of your pr cards (your wife and yours), 2 utility bills, bank statement and work documents (to show proof of funds if you would be sponsoring her trip, if she would be sponsoring herself then you don't need this), her personal documents as required (work docs if employed, biz docs if self employed, personal bank statements, retirement docs n pension if retired, etc).

Hi,
Yes you can edit your details. I did that too. I have since sent the statement of completion to CPAO and it has been acknowledged so I don't think it's a problem. I used my friend's address and phone number for the application. I hope your contact person is in Ontario. The HST amounts to 13% I think. So just factor in an additional 13% on the 495cad.

URGENT RESPONSE NEEDED!!!
My family friend, who is a widow with two children, she lost her husband 6 years ago, she remarried before landing in Canada (she went to registry just a week before she landed), but she didn't update her information online that she has remarried. So when she landed, they asked her if she remarried and she said yes and brought out the wedding certificate. They seized her documents from her and asked her to come back today..it was there they told her it was misrepresentation and why didn't she update her status, and so they asked her to go back to Nigeria or bring her lawyer by tommorrow...please what can she do?

Doctors usually struggle in Canada. I would suggest US or UK first. I think it has to do with spaces for residency.

Hello everyone!

Please I am in urgent need to get these questions answered.

1. What is the best way to travel with my POF? Can I deposit it in a US Dollar Domiciliary account? You can carry cash, you can open a Canadian account (RBC) before you arrive, you can leave it in your dorm and then transfer when you get here (If you have someone to help you).

2. Is it better to rent a place to live from Naija or to get to Canada first? Rent a temp accommodation but if you can get a lease before you arrive, it's best. It makes all the forms you fill so easy and your kids can start school almost immediately. But it's hard to get. Mostly, someone will guarantee you with their credit records and employment history.

3. Who has any info about Etobicoke area. Is is a nice place to live? I think it's a part of the Toronto area. I believe Etobicoke is the former name. It's like living in city centre.

4. Where is the best place to purchase travel health insurance in Naija, or it's not necessary for Canada? I don't have confidence in Naija insurance at all. Canadian is sure.

May God bless whoever responds to my questions abundantly. (and others too)

They already gave her options to choose from. She would be wise to narrate what happened to a lawyer(and she should be truthful about it. It is her word against theirs now) and take up the issue from there. Atleast she go still dey Canada while her case is being reviewed because if she go back naija, na only God know wetin go happen.

Again, I would think, updating information would be the first thing for anyone to do when circumstances change in this immigration runs. As I recall, it was stated on CIC's web page to update immediately one's circumstances change. At least, this will protect the applicant, give you peace of mind and also avoid this current situation your friend is in.

And, considering the way things are going and the way people use this marriage thing to sponsor people, the guys at the point of entry are privy to these facts too and are only trying to ensure the credibility of the story.

PS: I am not saying your friend is lying neither am I saying she is telling the truth but if I were to be in the shoes of the officers, I would be skeptical too.

She did not intend to lie, she was guided during her application and the person helping her never mentioned this to her. Also the new husband is not planning to relocate to Canada because he is very comfortable in Nigeria, he has a very good job and wife back in Nigeria.

Depending on your preference, i would suggest UK first. My sister is a Doctor in the UK and is planning to come to Canada soon because that has always been her dream. She chose to go to UK first because Doctors that work in UK and have done some exams find it easier to start working almost immediately they get to Canada.
Once you pass the PLAB exams, it is easy to get a job in the UK i hear. Though she went to Saudi first though but once she passed her PLAB exams, she even got a job via Skype. Doctors in the US struggle like those in Canada as well (I have a friend whose husband is a Doctor in Georgia) but with Patience and perseverance, all three ( UK, US, Canada) come out right in the end.

It's even more complicated with the other wife. Polygamy is a crime in Canada. Hopefully, it's a cultural marriage and not officially married to both woman.

It would have been stated on the passport request letter that change in circumstances need to be reported before issuance of visas. For not declaring that she remarried, she may never be able to sponsor him, but she needs to fight against her deportation first as the PR would likely be cancelled.
Your friend would need a very good lawyer and not just any lawyer.

From a friend ,please help her
Please has anyone here applied for PR for their spouse? A PR holder landed two months ago and received her card on Monday, she intends trying next week to Lagos for her wedding and returning back in one week immediately to start applying for her husband's PR through family sponsorship.

Guess what do you think?

She couldn't do it before she left and add him to her application due to several reasons, she has proof of the seven months relationship..call log, chat log, pictures etc.

Has anyone applied for such, the website says 12 months, do they stick to such.

Please generally going back about two months does it look suspicious? Girl wan marry nahhh.. she didn't want to do it before going and not telling them to aviod misrepresentation, also if she informed then before going, they would have withdrawn it and taken about three months to issue new ones to both of them and she had an interview to attend over there.

Please let me know your thoughts Please
