But he is still better than jet li... Less film tricks, more real action

As a stunt man/action, yes

As a martial artist, he doesn't come close

Jet li is a national treasure in Martial arts community in china
Was already a super star at young age
A "Messi" of Wushu (martial arts)

Became a film star at a period when the asian audience were bored with action scenes and needed something different.
Wirefu/wuxia (kungfu fantasy) became the shiit and all movie makers complied

You have to understand that movie making is business

I think they both featured in Bruce Lee's "FIST OF FURY" in the mid 70s.

Omo, I hate seeing jet li movies... Too much tricks.

His last movie I watched Sorcerer and the white snake gave me head ache with too much tricks...

Those are not exactly "tricks" but rather "exaggerations"
More like an exaggerated expression of things that can and are actually being done for real

Just as witch craft shown in local movies are exaggerated in expression (tricks) compared to how witchcraft is actually done in real

The Chinese audience understands the idea behind those movies cause it tallies with their philosophy hence Jet li movies are more popular in mainland China than Jackie chan movies

U have to know and understand Chinese culture, tradition, folklore and philosophy to appreciate "those" Jet li movies

Hollywood don't understand this
They were just fascinated by the whole wirefu action Jet li, Donnie yen, Vincent zhoa, wu jing etc brought to limelight and just decided to do theirs

The result
Garbage movies like Romeo must die, Matrix etc where the true expression of that art is lost

I still prefer jet li even though I know he does too many film tricks and which of them doesn't. His films have better storylines and more realistic. He speaks better English and he's actually a good Kung fu specialist

Guy, you just typed what I wanted to say. Rumble in the bronx is the greatest Jackie Chan movie I have seen... Too much fighting and no rest throughout the movie. And Drunken master is the only movie Jackie Chan was beaten like a small boy, I just pity the guy... The boss use Jackie as a punching bag, lol

The guy can actually fight, dunno why he can be real most time.

5. An injured spine falling six stories in Project A (1983)

The period piece Project A , in which Hong Kong police team up with the Coast Guard to fight pirates at the turn of the 20th century, is one of the first truly successful distillations of the Jackie Chan formula—pure slapstick comedy by way of blinding martial arts and insane stunt work.
In the scene, Chan's character Ma dangles precariously from the face of a 60-foot clock tower. He strains to hold on, but loses his grip—and falls the entire six stories, through a couple of awnings and directly onto his head. The awnings may have been meant to break his fall somewhat, but watching the scene, they don't seem like they accomplish much other than to flip his body around such that he lands at the worst possible angle.
At the risk of stating the obvious, Chan injured his spine during the stunt

I remember watching this movie in 1993 at a friend's home. Good old days

9. Sliding down a 24-story building in Who Am I? (1998)
"Who Am I?" is actually the title character of the 1998 film of the same name, an amnesiac who is given the moniker by African natives in a humorous misunderstanding. It features a distinct
sloping glass facade that runs down one entire face of the 24-story building, and in the film's climactic scene, "Who Am I?" must escape hitmen by sliding down the entire length of the facade. Chan accomplished this stunt by…literally sliding down the entire length of the facade, unassisted, with no harnesses or other special equipment, exactly as seen in the film.
That this stunt was even attempted is insanity. There really was no middle ground; either it goes off without a hitch, or Jackie Chan dies. The slide takes nearly 45 seconds to complete on film, with Chan alternately sliding on his back, scrambling on his feet, and going face-first on his stomach before ending up feet-first again in time to come to a bone-jarring halt and catch himself from flying over the edge at the bottom of the facade.

I remember this crazy scene! Jackie is the GOAT

The guy can actually fight, dunno why he can be real most time.

Before u absorb something from a different culture, try have a good understanding of that culture first
This is something the average person fails to do hence so much misunderstanding and confusion in the world 2day

To the Amercian person, the Nigeria shown in "Sahara" makes more sense to him/her than the one he or she is seeing in a local nollywood production
To u a so called Nigerian it is the opposite

When u understand the way things work in Chinese cinema, you'll be awed at the level of artistry and creativity that has been passing u by in those scenes you have been watching
To you, your just watching an action movie
but its more than that

"...tricks in English movies.."
Reread what I said about Hollywood in my post
Hope u know these people 'Act' for cash
Its a job, they are not doing it to prove their skills to you, if want that u know where to go for such

"..like beating many people.."
The average person has not really seen or understood 'proper' kungfu or martial arts at the highest level
Bruce Lee caused this (got the world crazy on some watered down stuff)

What u call "unreal" is not unreal enough for what the REAL thing looks like

Truth be told
Real kungfu at the highest level would look more 'trick' than those so called tricks that you're seeing

More like the difference between watching and incantation (invoking of spirits) in a movie and experiencing an actual incantation in real life
