As a stunt man/action, yes

As a martial artist, he doesn't come close

Jet li is a national treasure in Martial arts community in china
Was already a super star at young age
A "Messi" of Wushu (martial arts)

Became a film star at a period when the asian audience were bored with action scenes and needed something different.
Wirefu/wuxia (kungfu fantasy) became the shiit and all movie makers complied

You have to understand that movie making is business

Not quite true bro, compare their ages side by side and see. Jackie Chan is far far older than Jet Li, when the Jackie Chan was Jets age he did much greater things...

U need to separate the world of movies from the actual world of martial arts

While wang yu, shaw brothers, Bruce lee, Jackie chan, yuen bio, Sammo hung etc were painting Hong Kong (then British territory) and the rest of the world RED with their movies and exploits (60s, 70s), kungfu/martial arts was banned in mainland China
Mainland China is where true chinese martial arts reside

The communist Chinese govt had banned kungfu/martial arts for yrs cause martial arts was too strong among the people they feared the people might revolt
Shaolin temple (source of all oriental martial arts) was even closed down

People practiced only in secret, no public displays

After a while (around 70's) the govt decided to revive it and bring it back to mainstream
They started a program by training young talents which the govt would use this project
Jet li was the poster boy for this project
At age 10 he was already a super star
Traveling the world with the Beijing martial arts team and performing for Presidents.
US president Nixon once jokingly asked a then young Jet li to be his bodyguard
Top masters were brought to coach the young protege
Movie makers came to watch him
And they monitored him till when he was grown to his teens
He was basically groomed to be the no 1 Star of martial arts in china

Do you know that his first movie 'Shaolin temple' (at age 18) made the chinese Govt reopen the famous Shaolin temple which had been close down for yrs !!!!

9. Sliding down a 24-story building in Who Am I? (1998)
"Who Am I?" is actually the title character of the 1998 film of the same name, an amnesiac who is given the moniker by African natives in a humorous misunderstanding. It features a distinct
sloping glass facade that runs down one entire face of the 24-story building, and in the film's climactic scene, "Who Am I?" must escape hitmen by sliding down the entire length of the facade. Chan accomplished this stunt by…literally sliding down the entire length of the facade, unassisted, with no harnesses or other special equipment, exactly as seen in the film.
That this stunt was even attempted is insanity. There really was no middle ground; either it goes off without a hitch, or Jackie Chan dies. The slide takes nearly 45 seconds to complete on film, with Chan alternately sliding on his back, scrambling on his feet, and going face-first on his stomach before ending up feet-first again in time to come to a bone-jarring halt and catch himself from flying over the edge at the bottom of the facade.
watch the end of this film well and you will see a rope was attached to his waist to support him in case he falls off

3. Collision with a helicopter in Police Story 3: Supercop (1992)

It's safe to say that most leading men have never had their face rearranged by a helicopter, but Jackie Chan is not most leading men. An incredibly perilous sequence in 1992's Police Story 3: Super Cop has Chan's character Ka-Kui leap onto a rope ladder dangling from a chopper, then proceed to endure all kinds of hazards as the pilot attempts to shake him off—but that's not even the dangerous part. When the helicopter later lands on a moving train, all Chan has to do it avoid it as he dangles from a rotating railway apparatus.
In the outtake, the helicopter smacks into Chan as he's clinging to the overhang, which fails to rotate completely. This resulted in a fractured rib, broken shoulder, and dislocated cheekbone. Chan had to hang on with his good shoulder while half-conscious and wait for the crew to drag him down.
again he was tied to the rope of the plane ladder throughout the journey. Am a very big fan of Chan that i have studied most of his film. Most stunts you see are well calculated in advance even though he suffer injury from some. He does not take risk without protecting himself

Re: Movie Scenes That Nearly Killed Jackie Chan by Spidermon: 5:47am On Mar 03, 2018
Jackie chan was trained first as an actor. He says so himself.

Jet li should also be respected. His wire works are a lot more fun to watch for me. Fight choreography can get boring if it is mostly one step sparring stringed together.

And the whole matter of who is better has been laid to rest with their fight scene in "Forbidden Kingdom".

Jackie chan. Agba awo. Respect !

I still prefer jet li even though I know he does too many film tricks and which of them doesn't. His films have better storylines and more realistic. He speaks better English and he's actually a good Kung fu specialist
So Jackie speaks lesser English?? I'm sure he speaks more than you

1. Nearly losing an eye in Drunken Master (1978)

Snake in the Eagle's Shadow was one of Chan's first lead roles back in 1978, introducing his distinct comic touch, which came about as a way to distinguish himself from the great Bruce Lee. Speaking to Hong Kong Film Connection. This is why Snake in the Eagle's Shadow totally changes the action film." The movie also featured rising star Hwang Jang-Lee, the "king of the leg fighters," whose powerful kicks have become legend.
While shooting Snake , Jang-Lee had accidentally kicked out one of Chan's teeth, but Chan had apparently failed to learn his lesson. He suffered one of his first major on-set injuries when one of Jang-Lee's thundering kicks connected with his brow bone, breaking it and nearly causing him to lose an eye .

Some people need to be jang-lee(d) from the seat of power come 2019
