muhammed50:Yes it's a filming style popular in chinese cinema Chinese watch movies to see exaggerations cause the real thing they see everyday on the streets around, u cannot impress them with that on screen cause even a security guard is a trained martial artist and could probably wipe the asses of any of Bruce Lee, Jackie or jet |

theDEVILisHERE:You obviously have no idea of what you are talking about ...with reference to your UFC / MMA comment . Have you seen any real life clips of fighters who practice martial arts in real life . It's not as synchronized or as graceful as the old school movies my dude . Go watch clips of Wu shu tournaments and see . I had to Google the gentleman you spoke about and while I do recognize him ...you don't want him getting into an octagon with these guys . Not saying he will loose tho . Just saying fighting in films doesn't always translate in real life . Even Bruce Lee who is known as the father of MMA only has one or two video clips of him fighting in real life . Still not take anything away from first hand witness accounts . Do your research . Please post a source for the kick he used to kill the soldier . Guy was something else in those movies Sha. Respect to him and you . |

tobianthony:Ufc/MMA is not martial Arts its just brawling mixed with wrestling as well as some "self defence" moves taken from martial arts Being a Fighter and being a Martial artist are not the same thing Bruce lee is the cause of this poor indoctrination of what martial arts and kungfu in particular is Hence true masters in China, the martial arts community and many Chinese didn't respect him when he was alive Chinese only cashed in on his world wide popularity since he brought some respect to the average Chinese person in the eyes of the world Communist China was opening up to the world so anything for world recognition was welcomed but they truely didn't like the way he presented their art He bought into the fastfood/micro wave mentality of the west and watered down the true ideology and philosophy behind Oriental martial arts This made the average man feel he/she can just motivate himself train and become a martial artist when this is far from the truth Western ideology is that of getting quick solution as well as using that solution for quick fix Hence they can never be good at anything that require deep cultural introspective Martial art being one of them Martial arts originate from Africa And even after it was brought to shaolin temple by the Indian Buddhist Bodha Dama it still never lost its true ideology which is based on the concept of existence Existence occurs in 2 aspect And each aspect are opposite and equal Noopoo/zoopoo Positive/Negative Yin/ Yen Life/Death Martial arts is based on this principle, Life and Death In other words Martial arts in its true form is either used to Heal (physically, mentally, spiritually etc) or to KILL! Kungfu which the source of all Oriental martial arts has this rooted in it's structure Even the derivative martial art systems in their "original" form have the same principal For example Original karate which is Okinawa karake is not the same as Shotokan karate u see practiced Okinawa is built for maximum damage not sports Same with the difference between Rekwando and the ITF and WTF taekwando This is why you'll not see any true Martial arts master go into any if those UFC octago n/gladiator stuff Sports have rules Martial arts is for no rules situation And even with those rules In the cage/octagon, a "Dim mark" kungfu master would kill his opponent with just 1 pressure point strike No one wants to watch that! When anyone wants to talk about martial arts and they start referring to Bruce Lee, Jackie, Jet... and any of those movie stuff, I know their knowledge of the art is shallow As a matter of fact the average person has not seen the Oriental arts in their true form You'll not see it in the movies neither would you see it in many of those net clips or instructional YouTube videos They never show you true lethal techniques there If you want to understand martial arts properly, you'll have to get trained in "proper" martial arts. Not self defence or combat sports Self defence is like reading about a dance while martial arts is actually dancing that dance This is why most times in "Real" situation, the skills of those who train self defence fail them In Real situation a martial artist comes alive, His skills don't fail him And yes, Martial arts, kungfu in particular can both beautiful and lethal to watch Matter of fact some of the most beautiful kungfu to watch are actually the most lethal eg: Tang long (mantis) Wushu is actually the name for chinese martial arts Kungfu means skill eg: a carpentar has kungfu (skill) Bruce lee made the world more familiar with the kungfu terminology instead of the actual term which is Wushu Contemporary wushu you are referring to is sport version of kungfu That being said some of kungfu lethal techniques are still in it even tho it is done with an exhibitionist mindset (flashy) |
