Pardon my bluntness. What you are proposing is not a business but charity. I will advice you seek for a good vehicle on rentals, save up the needed funds for your equity contribution. Don't sit and wait for a messiah that will meet your needs. Get up and hustle. Walk the talk sir.

Hello and thanks for stopping by.

I beg to differ with your view relative to my seeking charity in whatever definition/meaning of the term (do check up on the definition of the term).

My proposal is just a business model with it's own peculiarity which places no compulsion on any one to take it serious if if goes against the business sense of him/her. It may interest you to note that Principals who were willing to do business with me based on this arrangement had contacted me but two of the four that were game had vehicles that didn't meet the criteria (3.0l vehicles), while another two are yet to bring in the vehicles having just purchased them while being in no rush to expedite the process (not trying to score cheap points). Let's just say I've experienced in this thing called life surprising turn of events that rubbished established facts.

Just like it is the prerogative of potential partners to demand equity contribution as it makes good business sense to them after considering the angles, so is mine not to engage in "rentals" after running the figures.

You see, don't ever assume the status quo will always remain so across board. The human mind is a maze driven by a multitude of impulses which are in turn informed by experiences that are peculiar to each individual hence one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter. Be daring and inquisitive as you never know what you may find behind that door everyone claims lead to nowhere thus not even daring to open it.

Thanks for stopping by and all the best.

P.S: Your bluntness is pardoned.

I normally don't comment on threads but I must commend you for your well articulated write up. It's encouraging to know that people like you exist. Back to the subject, I'll answer with a scenario. If I take my time to import a car that meets your specifications, spend crazy money to clear, register and have it insured. Do you really think I'll just give it out for 50k a week with no commitment from you but your well written words?

Don't answer, just put yourself in the shoes of the principal.

Also, if you are lucky enough to get your specified vehicle, you should have at least 100k set aside to take care of any unforseen issue that may crop up.

Either way, you need cash.

Trip A
Rider: good afternoon bro, where are you?
Me : i am at ogudu GRA, i see you are at China Town. Could you confirm that?
Rider : yes, but bros that place you are is kinda far from me.
Me: i will be coming right away and possibly reach there within 7mins
Rider : No no no, drive to the ogudu road exit to the road that leads to 3rdmb.
Me: ok, on my way already

End trip. Paid extra 500

This kind of rider makes work easy for you.

Trip B
Rider: bros howfa
Me: cool good afternoon
Rider: na wa for you o bro, you have not even moved since you got my request.
Me: i was checking the fastest route to get to you, and was about to dial your number before you called.
Rider : what are you checking? The address is there. And why would you call? What are we going to be talking about.
Me; i have to confirm your exact pick up before moving. I am at adetokunbo ademola, i see you are at oko awo street is that correct?
Rider: yes.
(2mins later)
Rider : no wonder, you be big man na, 2 phones, see pimping, this is Ferrari corolla o. Anyway lets go. 5 star already.
(slept off and was snoring till we got to ikeja)

A very funny rider

Trip C
Rider: we are stopping at two places in surulere. Luth and akerele
Me: ok ma
Rider: you seem so calm, are you happy today?
Me: yes ma
(it was history about awolowo, azikiwe and the rest. I had to open my ears wide, and still concentrate on the driving. Would have been easier if she sat at the front)

Trip D
Rider: thank you so much, you can stop here. Let me get down and walk home. I don't want you to drive through that street so you don't damage your car. It's not really good.
Me : Ok ma, thank you and have a good nite.
Rider : it a card trip you know?
Me: yes ma
Rider: oh, just take this (200) and buy a bottle of coke.

Trip E
(somewhere is oworosoki. Really bad inner streets)
Me: can you see a red car? I think i am on the street.
Rider: keep coming down, i can see you, keep coming
Me: do cars pass here? I don't think my car will make it climbing the hill back. (cant be revving high, burning fuel to go up a rough elevation)
Rider: of course you can
Me: could you please join me here since i am close
(5mins later)
Rider: (breathing heavily) oh, you Stressed me.
Me: i am sorry, i just couldn't go down there. You know sometimes you have to help your driver. Some terrains are not motorable. You could have used bike to come up here.
Rider:well it ok. We can go. Unilag
Me: (with red eyes) Alright. Bariga will definitely be locked around that market. Should we use other routes, longer but faster though.
Rider: hope they won't charge me much? no no, lets still passed through bariga, i usually pay around 1k passing through bariga. We could be lucky, it could be free.
Me(chai) ok

Wasted about 70mins for a 5km ride. After traveling like 4km to pick him from gbagada

Today is Tuesday. Resting at home. Made 96k and 12k offline last week . Have a blessed week....

Every business has its share of a few bad eggs. The ride-share service is definitely not an exception.

The ride-share service – as provided by Uber, Taxify and Oga Taxi – is fast becoming a big source of employment and extra-income for Nigerians.

However, there have been not a few cases where some drivers have wittingly and unwittingly offended customers.

As a result of such occurrences, Autojosh is offering some essential tips for ride-share drivers in order to for them to offer better and more professional services.

1. Be courteous to your passengers. Especially on the phone. Avoid arguments. Remember, the customer is always right.

2. Speak only when spoken to . During rides with clients, keep your opinions to yourself, except the passenger solicits for it.

3. Do not get too personal with passengers . The passenger is not your friend or relative. The passenger is an esteemed client. They deserve your professionalism.

4. Always decline requests politely . If necessary, explain why a client’s request is been declined.

5. Be neat. Dress appropriately. There should be a difference between you and a bus conductor.

6. Be Patient . Admittedly, this advice is easier given than done. In this line of work, it is typical for your patience to be tested. Nonetheless, try to exercise some patience when dealing with clients.

7. Learn to zone out of the environment when being insulted. Simply block out your mind from every unkind words being uttered by an unruly passenger.

8. Get a Dashboard Camera . A dashboard camera should be an essential item in your car. You never know when you will get a bad passenger that you will need proof of their actions. Indeed, nothing beats recorded video in court.

9. Use Your Discretion. Decline passengers who you are not comfortable with or feel safe with.

10. Keep the Music Down . You never know, your choice of music could be offensive to the passenger.

11. End a trip if you feel a passenger is behaving in an intolerable manner . However, let this be the last resort.

12. Do not physically remove a passenger. However, in a case when it becomes imperative to do so, do it at a public where there are witnesses, or at a police station.

13. No matter how irritated you are – on no account must you drive a passenger to your home.

14. Never be cynical or sarcastic. Use the right and appropriate tone and choice of words when interacting with a client.

15. Cash or online payment . If you prefer cash transaction, politely explain why to the passenger before the trip is started.

16. Take your personal safety serious . Decline rides with passengers that you are not comfortable with – or destinations that you feel are risky. Never let earning money or the worry of your rating get in the way of doing what you need to do to be safe.

17. Do not be ashamed to ask for directions . Ask your passenger for direction if you are unsure of it. Navigational devices are not always accurate. If you are using a navigational device, minimize distraction while driving. Input destination only when the car is stationary.

18. When your passenger is indulging in an illegal or unsafe act during the ride you may politely request that they refrain from it. If they do not comply with your request, end the trip and drop them off at the nearest safe place or at the police station.

19. Get a POS device . Save yourself the worries of whether a bank transfer claim by a client to your bank account is genuine or not. Get a POS device.

20. You deserve your pay . If a passenger has demonstrated no evidence of a capacity to pay after a trip, insist on your pay. Stand your grounds. Let him or her look for someone to borrow from.

21. Rest . This is very important. It could be very exhausting driving for long hours. Take out time off work for some well deserve rest. The great thing about the ride-share service is that you can turn off your app when you decide to be off duty and turn it on when you resume.

22. Secure yourself . Have a pepper spray or a Taser. Be prepared to defend yourself when necessary. Even if you are deactivated for life by Uber, Taxify, etc, it’s worth it if you are still alive and uninjured.

Enjoy everybody.

I subscribe for unlimited data, 20k. But you can do 5k for 7GB. That should last the whole month if you manage it well. The network is as strong as any data provider network around. It(network) almost doesn't get better than that.
