Hello,
I have been having this issue with my 2007 Honda Accord I4 for a very long time now, and it is getting worse.

1. The car auto revs on its own in park and neutral . Once you start it, goes Voom! Voom! Voom! With the tach going up and down continously.

2. It jerks with a thud, when changing from park to reverse or from neutral to drive.

3. On motion, the vehicle drives itself as there is no throttle response and does not exceed 40km/hr. There is also a slight thud when it shifts from gear 1-2 and when downshifting too. I can only control it with the brake at this point. The engine sound is also very high.

Initially, this issues happen intermittently , in that, the car would drive well for like a month, and then the issue will come up suddenly, say for 2 days and everything becomes normal afterwards, but it has been very consistent recently and the car is beginning to stall on motion.

Overtime, I have scanned the car and got codes related to throttle body, throttle position sensor,and online checks suggest the culprit could also be a vacuum leak.

I have replaced about 3-4 throttle bodies, the latest being a brand new one I ordered online.I have also replaced my intake tube,ECU, replaced sensor plugs,e.t.c, still the issue has persisted.

Presently, I have codes P2135 and P2176.

I have been going about this diagnosis myself because I stay in bonny island,Rivers State, and here, there are no competent mechanics or auto electricians that can tell me what the problem is.

I would appreciate if anyone with such experience could point out what I could do to resolve the issue or refer me to a very competent auto mech or electrician in port Harcourt that could help me resolve this issue.

baba Gazzuzz. please which I want to replace the spark plugs in my 2008 Honda accord. the manual says NGK DILZKR7A11GS. I have been searching all round and I couldn't find this. Any alternative?

now to your present issue.

Your engine starting and running smooth, does not mean every thing is well within your engine, I have seen serious buildup of sludge in vehicles that were thought to be maintained properly.

I will advice you start your switch to 5w30 gradually.

Start by switching to a 40weight. (0w40 or 5w40 or 15w40) good brand full synthetic. Run it for 4000miles and watch your engine oil dipstick every morning to ensure no oil burn.

If this works out, next oil change switch to full synthetic 5w30 (good reliable brand)

If it does not workout (oil burns) switch back to any good brand of 20w50 oil and change oil between 3000-5000kms max.

You should be fine.

if you have a good mechanic that can handle the FSI part you will be fine.

DO NOT BUY THIS CAR AS A NIGERIAN USED VEHICLE

Gazzuzz, i changed the plugs of a car but parked the car for about six months. Someone advised that i should change the plugs again before driving it, especially as am about to make a long distance trip with it.

Pls bros, my dad took my car to osogbo on fri, came back to lagos on sunday. He said he had a smooth ride and there was no issue at all.

I took the car to visit a friend, just abt two kilometer from my house, i returned, switch off the engine and after just like 5 minute, i attempt to start the car again to go get fuel but engine no start, engine cranks but car wont start. Battery confirmed ok. What could be wrong?

The only thing i observed was that fuel was very low when dad returned it, i was even joking with him that he dint buy fuel and we both laugh about it.I took it out, about 4 km journey(to and fro) to see a friend with that very low fuel with AC (fuel guage needle was practically touching ground).
I came back and there was no issue, until when i off the engine and i decided to start it again to go get fuel but car wont start. I took a galon to get fuel and i poured it inside the car but car wont start. What could be the problem. I have never experience such. Car is camry 03

Your fuel pump might have failed. it has have sucked up dirt from the bottom of the fuel tank. Get your mechanic check for fuel, spark and air.

Btw it's not advisable to drive a car on an almost empty tank.
