I advise you write the 4 ACCA papers here in Nigeria, then do the CPA conversion.
Converting to CPA from ICAN is almost as if you did not have the ICAN in the first place.
The only issue is the number of annual subcriptions you will have to start paying having ICAN, ACCA and CPA.

Thanks Madam.

But I'm aware ACCA hasn't renewed the MRA it has with CPA . , as such , CPA might terminate d agreement anytime.

What then become of One !!!

Go to settings/phone/inbound calls - enable it/ringtone - set tone.

Back to settings again/notification - enable it/notification sound - enable it/Notification tone - should show the ringtone you set above.

Dial your freetone number severally to test.

Hope this helps.

One of the reasons for this was because the officer who attended to you, didn't finish the "check in" process. (it was what happened to me because I landed in Quebec). You should call CIC and they'll help you.

Have you gotten your SIN number?

In my case, I called, was told to wait 7 days, after 7 days I called and was transferred to immigrations. The person I spoke with took the officer's who attended to me numbers (it's on your COPR) and made a note for the officer.
The officer called me like a day later to tell me he had completed the process.

Please I need clarity.

I have an Alberta health card obtained when we did a short landing in calgary in early 2016. Later that same year, I went back alone and had a baby. I returned to naija early 2017 and now we plan to return to Canada late 2018 but are seriously considering staying in OTTAWA.

QUESTIONS:
1. Can I switch my Alberta health card for the ontario healthcard and instantly get coverage?
2. Does it matter that I would have been out of calgary for over a year before moving to Ottawa?

Any info is highly appreciated.
Merci beaucoup!

If you've got your SIN, then the immigration process is complete, just call CIC so they can help rectify the issue.

Hi, to clarify the relevant info in the link provided to you above, please note that if you move to Ontario directly from another province like Alberta and apply for coverage, your health coverage will begin on the first day of the third month after establishing residence in Ontario, provided you were insured in your previous province or territory. Since you already have your Alberta health card, you will be eligible for coverage in Ontario exactly after two months after registering here. Please ensure you visit any Service Ontario location to register your presence in Ontario and start the count down. You will also get answers to any more health insurance questions you might have there.

Your valid health card from your former province will continue to provide you with health insurance coverage in accordance with that province/territory's plan during the waiting period.

( sorry cant find the "submit" when the post is too long)

We slept over in a hotel. Montreal to Edmonton was 4hours.

No much questions asked by immigration in Montreal... I declared the goods we had with us. We didn't spend more than 10 mins at the immigration stand.

The in flight entertainment on Turkish Airlines is excellent... movie wise. And we got some small small goodie packs. Baby even got hers too. The food was good.

Air hostess/host speak not so good english...
We've done our SIN and health card. Opened accounts at Scortia bank. Just PR card pending and child care benefit.

I have an infant who is 3 months old and would appreciate advise from other mums on the best way to move around with an infant in this weather. Been using a baby carrier buy she's not a fan and always fussy. Do I need to get stroller?

welcome. Yes, I would advice you get a stroller and a bunting bag which looks like the photo below. Also, a snowsuit for your baby is recommended. You can also get a car seat cover as shown in the photo since she can't sit upright in a stroller just yet but personally, I prefer the bunting bag because it could fit in both a car seat and stroller.

I believe it is the spirit and not the letter of the intention we should follow here, the author could not have envisaged all topics that could be discussed under this thread as at the time of writing this post.

We have had well meaning contributors on this thread debate on what should be posted or not - from the debate on comparing life in UK to Canada to the current issues on job struggles. Unfortunately, these debates have prevented the dissemination of information to those who would actually benefit from them, either in real life or per knowledge sake. Both sides of the debate may be correct but because they refuse to view the situation from the other side, the argument goes on longer than if the original issue was left to die naturally.

Let us all try and be more tolerant of each other, open to other views and always remember that one person's poison is another one's apple, hence what is not valuable to you may just be the information another person has been searching for, different strokes for different folks. We have some of the best professionals in Nigeria on this thread, skilled workers wanting more than their country can offer (including culture).

So, as we celebrate International Women's day today, I would like to wish all the Professional ladies in the house a very HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY. They say children are the leaders of tomorrow, I say women are wink!!! Hence, please lead by example.

So I went to the first page, to get an idea of what the creator of this group had in mind. @oohunt.

Anyways main point is we should keep doing more of this. Thou we do some if not most of this

This thread is about Life in Canada for immigrants or Permanent Residents.
It is an avenue for people that have emigrated to Canada (with their families) to share their experiences to help future hopefuls.
Kindly share your personal experiences and comments on:

* When you landed at the airport?
* What are the immigration rules to follow?
* How do you carry all that cash with you? For example: a family of 5 will need $25,923.
* Which province did you settle in and why.
* Where you live and why you like it or don't like it? Tips on choosing the right neighborhood, mortgage plans, proximity to work etc.
* How easy was it to settle in, with your kids? How did you go about finding the right schools for them? What is their school system like for toddlers (age 5 and below)?
* Can a mother combine work and taking care of the kids with the husband being in Nigeria?
* What culture shock have you experienced?
* Tips on how to cloth and cope with the cold weather
* Are there Nigerian food/restaurants etc? Are they very expensive?
* Can one start a business (exportation, consultancy) in Canada?
* How much does your family survive on in a month?
* And any other ...

I got ICAN to give me my ATS and ACA transcripts, Letter of Good Standing, I packaged my MBA transcript, filled the relevant CPA forms and the painful part , I had to part with 480 CAD processing fee and DHL courier fees (man eye don see enuf in this PR hustle  ). I spent almost 250k all in all (including ICAN fees and outstanding ICAN-ATS dues)

The sorry part now is that when my approval came from CPA Ontario, they said, quoting their mail:

"Your application to register as a student under Accounting Body Outside Canada has been approved. You will be receiving a student confirmation letter once available, however below lists your admission to membership requirements:

- Challenge the examinations of Core 1 and Core 2 Modules;

- Challenge the examinations of two Elective Modules;

- Capstone 1 module;

- Capstone 2 module;

- Common Final Exam (CFE);

- Prescribed Practical Experience (PPE)

Can you imagine,   after almost 10 years of ACA status and finance work, I will have to write THAT MUCH as above.

(But from what I have been reading here, it seems something is not right about the number of papers I was approved to take (as an Internationally Trained Accountant); It is quite much as if I'm starting from the scratch!

To even think I may not been landing in Ontario as I had earlier planned as a FSW is now throwing another curve ball into an already complex matter (I feel like knocking myself, the whole fees and costs)

I'm currently going through as a Sask PNP and I thought of transferring my CPA Ontario application file to CPA Saskatchewan but CPA Sask said I will have to pay all the fees with them all over too.   I don seeee weeenn!

I'm about to withdraw my studentship now as I cant keep paying 600 CAD annual studentship dues when I have not even landed. They ve even sent me a mail (of course bulk mail) whether I want to avail myself of an "early bird" subscription payment for 2018   600 CAD for 2018!

Good morning elders ,

Please those familiar with this ICAN/AcCA/CPA issue . Kindly help please .

For someone who has ICAN and pursuing express entry , is it advisable to write ACCA (4 professional level papers) in Nigeria or he should wait till he lands to write CPA and claim exemptions with his ICAN ? how many paper exemptions are we talking about here ?

Thank You
