2019 Presidential and Lagos state gubernatorial election is pregnant based on mass anger in the polity right now, regards to Ambode, there is many resentment with the laws he enacted and sign into law,the anger is not restricted to any region, both Yoruba and other tribes residing in Lagos, and if a credible candidate emerged from one of the opposition parties and use those laws as campaign tools, then ambode is as good as gone, not minding the rigging.

Even though I had my doubt about him in 2015,i supported him only based on the fact he was the APC candidate. He still hasn't performed up to expectations in 3 years compared to what Fashola was able to achieve in his first term in office. He should bury his pride and bring back the old ways of waste disposal in Lagos. He should reengage the PSP operators because the Vision Scape company cannot cope with the amount of waste in Lagos. They should continue with the door to door waste collection because this idea of dropping bins across Lagos won't work. He should also complete the Blue Light rail is taking too long. So far I haven't seen much he has done.

Obviously, you don't own landed property, if you do, you would know that it is ridiculous to increase any levy on housing by 400%, while guiding rent rate and tenancy tenure.
If you read comprehensively, you would understand that, I was chiding him on that particular policy as it is bound to bring hardship on not only owner occupiers but tenants too,
As to the elections may the electorate win.

Try not to insult people because they disagree with your view. It is unlike Omoluabis.

I don't buy this endorsement because majority of Lagos Igbos always support PDP. Which is too bad because PDP is a no-go area in Lagos, and as of today it has showed itself to be a regional party with anti-Yoruba tendencies. undecided
Aren't they always anti-Yoruba? This people think they are wise in cony cony business. where is their partner in crime Jimie Agbaje that they endorsed the last time and almost cause disaffection among brothers. Yeye rudderless people. In other words awon radarada. grin

Let them endorse him. It will make it easier for Lagosians to kick him out in 2019. angry

Don't be funny. sad Are you a landlord in Lagos, or do you have relatives who are landlords? huh If a governor by his inhuman act, increases Land Use Charge from 78,000 naira per annum to almost 400,000 naira per annum, does that make sense? shocked Is the landlord expected to steal, to get money to pay the increased charges? Won't he increase the rent paid by his tenants, in order to get funds to cover that increase? At the end of the day, who suffers the most? Think man, think! shocked How can you say that such a horrendous increase in LUC would not be a problem?

when the FG increase import tariffs, didn't the businessmen adapt to the adjustment? is not compulsory to be a landlord in Lagos, you can go and build house in other state that give land on promo sef

the point is, all this taxes, is he using it on the right direction? if yes then what's the fuss abt increase in land charges that people are already paying?

I do know much abt the land charges, my fact is, if we can obey and adhere to the law of the countries will tour or dream to live then why not ours, if the gov is nt using the revenue of the land charges on the right direction then I can criticize him

no matter the debate on the land charges, Lagos govt aren't willing to adjust. so that's not going to stop ambode reelection.

Good of you to acknowledge that you do not know about the land use charge review.

Well, it is a very unpopular move both for owners and tenants keeping in mind that housing/ shelter is key to humans.

As an Omoluabi that appreciates and commends good things Ambode has done well for Lagos no doubt, but the new policy is a BIG but.

Like I said, may the electorate win.

Is it every businessman that engages in importation? shocked Has it occurred to you that the increase in import tariffs, get passed on to consumers at the end of the day? Are you aware that some businesses even folded up, due to the fact that their foreign inputs became too costly for them to use, to sustain their operations? Others who could switch from foreign inputs to local alternatives, did so.

But what is the alternative to the increase in the Land Use Charge? huh Only myopic individuals like you lot, think that consumers, tenants and the general public have an inexhaustible supply of funds that they can deploy to match every irrelevant increase, proposed by govt agencies! When a landlord is hit with an increase of 400% in his Land Use Charge, on a property he has rented out to tenants, where do you think he will recoup the increase from, if he does not increase his annual rental fees? Or do you expect him to steal to pay the increase in rates?
shocked You obviously do NOT own a house in Lagos, and neither do you have relatives that own one, otherwise you would not talk like this.

As for using the increased taxes in the right direction, maybe you should do a survey. undecided Ambode is very quick to make high falutin' promises, and very slow to execute them. He brought in Visionscape, and increased waste disposal levies. Visionscape has shown how clueless they are about tackling waste in Lagos, as the waste burden has increased, and there is no relief in sight, to the filth being generated. sad

Ambode has increased vehicle registration costs in Lagos, and now people are moving to Ogun state to register their vehicles for a fraction of the sum Ambode's govt is charging. Who is the loser in the long run? Ambode's insensitivity and indifference to the plight of Lagosians except those in his Epe enclave, is going to cost him big time. The public does not have an inexhaustible supply of money, and neither do they have a whole lot of patience to put up with his idiocy. undecided

It is not only unpopular, it is downright wicked in these hard times to increase LUC by 400%!! Do they expect landlords to steal to pay this increase? And they have only 30 days to do so.

Ambode is not governing inanimate objects. sad He is governing people or real life human beings, with wants, aspirations, challenges and options. It is too early for you to say that all his current exploitation of Lagosians, would not cost him the governorship in 2019.

Don't forget, that he won the election over Agbaje, by a very slim margin. Fashola in my opinion, performed better than Ambode. And he did not need to exploit the citizens of Lagos, in order to do so! angry

THE Igbo Vision in the All Progressives Congress, APC, yesterday endorsed Governor Akinwumi Ambode to pilot the state affairs for the next four years.

Speaking at a stakeholders meeting, the Publicity Secretary of APC in Lagos State, Mr. Joe Igbokwe said Igbo people in Lagos had resolved to once again support Governor Ambode to in the 2019 governorship election.

Igbokwe noted that Igbo people had seen the transformation going on across the state which has silenced the opposition adding that “in recognition of his hard work, we are going to come out in millions to support him once again through voting.”

He said: “I know that the Igbo, under the aegis of Igbo Vision, supported Ambode to become governor in the face of victimisation but they have not been recognised for their loyalty. Today, I want to assure you that our Governor did not forget the Igbo, you will be rewarded at appropriate time.”

“Government does not share money; it can only impact the society through its developmental project of which Ambode stands out. We have seen physical developments across Lagos and the ongoing transformation in Ladipo market is one among numerous ongoing projects to make life better for Lagosians. We are pleased with this and we want it to continue.”

Corroborating his view, Vice President, Association of Ndieze Igbo in Diaspora Worldwide, Uche Dimgba said that they have commenced sensitization of all Igbo in Lagos that do not have voters card to make sure they get it.

“We also encourage those that have voters card to come out and vote for Ambode in recognition of his selfless service to the development of Lagos State. Lagos State is our home and this is where we have majority of our investment”, Dimgba said.

Also the fact that the govt regulates tenancy terms.
Land Lords would definitely bear the brunt.

We don't need Igbos support in our Lagos election because we lagosians can decide who we want without Igbos endorsement. So 2015 election shows that Yoruba owned and control Lagos and stop beating chest that igbo dominate Lagos.
