So if they are next to God, what about the engineers that made it possible for a very heavy equipment to fly in the air like a bird. All the xray machines were designed by who, who developed the efficient management system that has enabled them to keep a good tab on the patients, who are those researching on drugs to be administered, I can go on and on.

Op, let me be specific specific here everybody should be proud of what we study in the higher institution be it mbbs, law, accounting, engineering, zoology or fishery. We should be proud and diligent in our various academic fields.
The idea of feeling big or pompous about studying medicine is an individual character, not everyone boasts of been a medical doctor, between it's not easy to be a qualified doctor, let's appreciate ourselves.
Am not a doctor am an engineering student.

same way e no easy to be an Engineer n me it was not easy been a Geographer, while d doctors deal with providing immediate life saving operation on humans the engineers contribute to human race through chemical, biological and mechanical engineering by going into more research n providing d doctors wit tools needed for successful operations n also save lifes n the geographer provides data on environment, study diseases(medical Geography) n the earth as a whole n even with GIS n GPS life have been saved so non is more important.

The fact that they are called medical Doctor does not make dem better, they are just ordinary human who had the intent to be called a Doctor or be an human scientist and gave the aspiration a pursuit.

He asked you out and you feel like OMG, he's a medical Doctor , ohk continue but know that, it is just a profession and not an human characteristic. He might be a doctor with characters worse than that of an apprentice.

You heard she studied medicine and you said to yourself, she will make a good wife and mother for my children... You are deceived by the smile she wears and the gentle warm feel of her hands when treating and attending to her patients
You forgot that's what she's trained to do and might not necessarily be her natural composition. Don't be surprised if she turns out bossy, a Nagger and probably a flirt.

That white overall they put on, that stethoscope hanging around their neck, that spectacles, that nose cover that drops to their jaw when not used and that way they dock their hands in that so called white overall( lab coat) is just what their job entails. It is as useful as cutlass and hoe to a farmer.

Ask me why I wrote all of this, I will tell you why those in the profession, parents and NYSC doesn't need to make us feel inferior because we chose to study some other courses.
Doctors(not all anyways) are quite intelligent and so are YOU. The difference is just the profession and nothing more.
I call it diversified intelligence.

Op you seems to be suffering from inferiority complex. In as much as I agree with you to some extent that one's profession doesn't change the person's nature, I beg not to agree totally with that. Remember this is a training, so no matter how you want it, as you climb the ladder, you get more and more disciplined, and many aspects of you that are not in tandem with the proffesion are sheded off. However, this is not to say that there are not still some people that may manage to escape that because no system is 100 percent efficient, but, it takes a whole lot of discipline to be a successful doctor in practice. Human beings are too difficult to please, when you tend to be too serious and maintain your lane, they will say you are too proud and arrogant because you are a doctor, when you try to socialise and mix up and live a normal human life outside work schedule, they will say you are not responsible. Op I suggest you mind your business and concentrate on developing yourself and career, if you wanted to study medicine but missed the admission and you still feel you have a calling there, go back and pick JAMB form, it is never too late, and there is no age limit provided you can conquer it when you get there and see it. I have never seen myself making this kind of your imagination or thought before because I am so much engraved in my career and how to fullfil my destiny on earth. Please discover yourself and you won't have time for this kind of write up or thought again.

Be proud of your career and overhype it as you wish.
Each profession matters and can't function almost perfectly without others
If u are mature u will know that ur purpose on this earth is not to do any so called professions these are life paths we were born into and were created by men .......
Whatever your career is make sure it is were u fit into and u will succeed
The doctors are very proud of their career that's why u think they overhype it because they know the kind of service they render and the sacrifices they made
Likewise see the value in your own profession and be proud of it

Your health is the most important resource. You need good health to remain alive and functional. Lose your health you are in trouble.

Thank God for doctors who are there with mandate to help you restore your health when you lose it. YOU SHOULD APPRECIATE THEM. THEY ARE INDEED IMPORTANT. VERY IMPORTANT TO HUMANITY.

Especially in emergency situations and during infectious disease epidemics doctors are critically needed while they also expose themselves to dangers.

There are good, bad and ugly doctors just like in any human system but the latter two are in the minority. Medical doctor bashing is getting too much these days especially in this country.

Other health workers hate doctors so much in this country yet many want their children to be doctors and when they are sick it is these same doctors they run to. May we learn to appreciate what we have!

Medicine is the only course in Nigeria where students study with the threat of being withdrawn from medical school by school authority. 1 mark makes dozens of students to drop out in 3rd year every day. Passing your 2nd MBBS Na war. When you're in medical school, your whole family might develop high blood pressure because after all the sleepless nights and money spent the student can be sent home. Horrible exams everywhere in medical school.... I Don tire. After a doctor goes thru all this, cut him some slack if he decides to be proud because it's not easy. Some doctors even stay as long as 9 years in medical school(brilliant guys ooo) it's a normal thing worldwide. Even though it's bad for anybody to be proud, if it affects u so much, jamb form is very cheap. Apply for jamb, get the required pass marks, join the millions of medical aspirants in Nigeria, go through years of torture in school. That should be easy for u all saying there is nothing special about doctors.

Everybody is very important in this life including the farmer, the Okada rider, the shoemaker and so on. I think the problem most of us have in life is that we have not conquered "self" otherwise we will learn to value and tolerate one another and also stop being unnecessarily envious of one another. The day we learn to avoid such arguments bothering on career ,religion and so on, that's when we will start co existing peacefully, because, nobody will want to be convinced that he or she is less important. Paul in the Holybible understood about that and made mention of that in one of his letters when he said one person plants but another waters but all are important, and thats why he had a succesful ministry.

What makes it more difficult than nuclear physics, civil engineering etc? It's all about passion. If you find it difficult to do maybe you go for some other course.
