Breaking: Buhari Rejects Electoral Act Amendment by actiondrilling(op): 10:34am On Mar 13, 2018
President Muhammadu Buhari has rejected the amendment to the Electoral Act, which intended to change the country's elections sequence, Daily Trust has learnt.

The president, it was gathered, gave three reasons for withholding assent to the bill, which was passed by both chambers of the National Assembly.

Sources told Daily Trust that the president has yesterday communicated his decision to the federal legislature in two separate letters addressed to the Senate President Bukola Saraki and Speaker Yakubu Dogara.

The two presiding officers are expected to read the letters to their colleagues at plenary between today and Thursday.

Following the passage of the bill by the National Assembly, several civil society organizations (CSOs), senior lawyers and other notable Nigerians kicked against it, calling on the president not to assent to it.

Too dull to obviously see that the amendment was neccessary...

It would strengthen our democracy as well as give a competitive stage for new and upcoming parties with the right objective...

It is the only way forwatd if we want to do away with money politics on elections.

It is finished! Buhari is a selfish self implode bigot. Was the election reorder about buhari? All the National Assembly did was to simplify election sequence to make the process smoother and easier for organizers and the electorate, hence the amendments. Why will President reject the amendment? Is he now taking it personal that National Assembly out to get him?
This country is in really BIG TROUBLE!

The President is just an individual and a citizen, majority of the citizen has their representative in National Assembly and the have our mandate to come up with laws that promotes equity without benefiting a single individual against the vast citizen. The president is a single individual and we the citizens mandate our reps to veto the single individual and make the bill law. He should have signed that act if he is not self seeking and afraid of 2019. Pure politics

The totality of the current NASS membership is almost always pushing those things it cannot finish.

Looks like, very slowly but steadily, the executive is getting under this set of NASS members' skin.

Remember, you saw it here, first. gringringrin

It is very obvious you're ignorant of the contents of the election sequence amendment bill. NASS didn't change the date of elections. They only amended sequence of the elections like number of political offices that will be contested on a day to accreditation of voters and others.

Good! Let the senate exercise their constitutional powers and veto the bill by a majority vote.
We the citizens are solidly behind the legislative arm of government to implement policies that are favourable to the masses not the executive.
Enough is Enough!
After they test run this for INEC they should gear up for the peace Corp bill.

"Herdsmen kill 11,burn 50 houses in Plateau".Did I not tell you?Did I not tell you that when the evil, bloodthirsty, vicious,Satanic PDP are through with Southern Kaduna,Adamawa, Taraba, and Benue, in their demonic plan of sending their hired killers masquerading as Fulani herdsmen to slaughter innocent people in those States in order to turn them against Buhari so that they will vote against him in 2019,that it would be the turn of Plateau State and the South-West next?Of course I said so.I also told you to watch out for the mayhem and carnage that would take place in those States under the guise of farmers\herdsmen clashes as 2019 approaches, with the PDP's evil bloody hand lurking beneath it all.It has started. What you are seeing now is only the beginning. And the carnage in Plateau started barely 24 hours after PMB visited the State.A coincidence?I don't think so!The huge crowd that turned out to welcome PMB in Plateau State shocked PDP to their marrows, and intimidated them badly. This is their response.

I disagree with you. If National Assembly want to give upcoming parties a competitive stage, they should have started with local to state then federal. But as it stands now, but them and Buhari are running a selfish course.
