Turks:
Morning sir. When did you notice the CRD? What’s your pen ventilation like? What’s your litter management like? Litter should be changed twice or three times a week to avoid ammonia build up as well as cocci infection. I think you have a litter management problem hence the onset of CRD and cocci at the same time. You don’t administer vitamins to birds down with cocci. It’s a death catalyst because of the vitamins B present in it.

However, Vitacox should be used in treating the cocci infection once the ventilation issue has been sorted. Vitacox is a 3-1-2 dosage. 3 days on the drug, one day of water, 2 days on eh drug. Please do not include vitamins as Vitacox contains Vitamins E, C and K needed for the healing of the bird’s ailing intestinal walls. Alternatively, you can give bitterleaf extracts, Cayenne’s pepper or Apple cider vinegar as organic substitutes, they work fine equally. Thank you.
Good one. So detailed.

Good day farmers,

In my quest to find solutions to the heat stress killing my broilers, I came across these remedies detailed below:

1. Provition of cool clean water
2. Provition of Vitamin C
3. Provition of Electrolytes
4. Withdrawal of feed at the hottest hours of the day to be compensated by feeding at cooler hours
5. Reduction of stocking density

What Im skeptical about are points 3 and 4, thus my qos:

-Please are they true?

-If applicable, is it safe for me to administer Vit C and Electrolytes to my 12 days old broilers on which Im currently treating Cocci with ceyene pepper?

Provision of clean water and electrolytes (multivitamin) is easily feasible. Stocking density should be max of 3 square feet per broiler. for example 150 square feet (10*15 ft or 20*7.5 ft) should not contain more than 50 broilers.

Point 4 is very necessary. They expend so much energy to eat and noon and don't convert it well, too stressful.
Try feeding at cooler hours and u will achieve fantastic fcr

True, their growth has really slowed down. Today is their 14th day, I will update their weight later. Thank you.

waw it good to be inform.I never knew d reason for my birds reluctant to feeding was due to heat but they drink more of water. I was so worried until I read it online....now my birds are healthy after I exposed them to fresh air though dey sleep a lot in day light but they feed more in cooler time.

can I still administer vitaminC for me in order to boost der feeding and growth

My 100 zartech broilers at day 14:

Mortality: 4
Highest weight: 470g
Gen. Average weight: 350g
Lowest weight: 220g

I attribute the low gain against last weeks weight of 150g on heat stress, coccidia and slight CRD which Im treating.

Your comments/observations/advice are highly needed please.

@ Oga Emma.
I remember you mentioned the Koudjis concentrate being superior to our local feeds. Do you think one can raise these birds on feeds made from this concentrate and still make a profit? I mean from day 1 to the point of sale.

Regards.

Its cheaper than the commercial feed though depends in the cost of maize and soyabean cake in your vicinity.

Wow, That sounds quiet promising. Thanks a lot for this information. I will do more research on the price of maize and soyabean cake. Do you mean the normal soyaben cake of the full fat soya type?

well we all know that broilers generate body heat through feed conversion. if the atmospheric temperature is high added to their own body temperature we all know the consequence

Well done my good people. Pls what causes ascites (water in the belly) in broiler and what sickness are they suffering from if their liver is greenish in colour? Thank you.

These underlying causes must be known to look for how to control the condition. There is no known cure for it.

1. What are the treatments administered from day old?

2. Do you have temperature extremes in the coop?

3. How is your water consumption? Do you change the pattern of recent?

4. Do you formulate your feed or use different feed types or change ration type arbitrary?

5. How are the birds growing (fast, slow, normal) Etc.

Thank you Oga Emmachile for the fast response.
1. I used EST for brooding.
2. On the 13th Day when I notice cough, I gave Tylodox for the cough and gave kepcox for coccidiosis. Then I gave sulpmix at 28days after I noticed the green patches on their liver and enlarged liver and spleen and greenish stooling. But the keep on dying in two and one every other day even after the sulphmix. I give multivitamin weekly.
3. Temperature is somehow ok expect some few days when the heat is extreme. Their water intake is between 210 - 250 litres daily.
4. No I don't formulate my feed, I used Chikun Super Starter and Animal Care Finisher.
5. The birds will be six weeks tomorrow, I can't say how their growth rate is but it they are between 2.4kg to 1.9kg.
From the 28 days to now I have lost about 14 of them. Some of them have water in their belly and most have enlarged liver. I intend giving them admacine today. Thank you again.
Re: ... by Nobody: 8:05am On Mar 19, 2018
@blessingfarm
Best solution is administer admacine or gumbocine or viralmix, etc. Stop all drugs for now. Make sure you follow the right dosage.

Hope you are not interchanging the feeds ie give starter, then finisher, then starter, you understand?

No Sir, am not interchanging the feed. I started finisher when they were 3 weeks and 3 days and I have been on it. Animal care. Thank you for your advice, I have started admacine this morning. God bless you Sir.
