I be Ijebu Man!!! i love my corolla 2000 bucket. It safes me from all kinds of harassment both from police and Area Boys. With my Ankara to match; am safe as a bird... I do like when they think am a broke returnee. Its better than paying for Body guides and afraid to go around. And by the way, Who cares about what people say about them; life is not elementary school.

If anybody get clean low miles E190 Benz, i need it badly. Thanks
Those were the last great Mercedes, in my opinion.

Pic is of two of many I owned. There was a time there that as long as I could drive it home I’ll buy it.

This rolling 15 year thing is a real bummer to Autoists like me.

My peeps, I seek your advise please. After agreeing (only a few days ago) with one stupid welder to construct and install a water tank stand (similar to the first picture attached) for a cost of N410k (which some will argue is on the high side) and given him more than half of the money to start the work, the welder now came back to state that the cost is now N550k because the price of the iron has gone up! You will wonder that when an artisan is giving a quote and agreeing a total price, he would have checked prices of materials etc! I am sure if he had gone to purchase the iron and found that the prices have dropped considerably, he would not have come back to give me discount! Anyway, I told him he should forget about the job as I cannot pay N550k (N140k more than originally agreed!) and to return my money. He then sated that he has already spent N70k for constructing the base. This was digging just 4 small holes and filling in with concrete. He bought only the iron and bolts, whilst I provided the cement, sand and granite (2nd and 3rd pictures attached of the construction of the base). I find it hard to believe that he spent N70k for that, am I wrong? Thank you. Building house in Nigeria is just so stressful!

I’ll just cut my losses if I’ve decided not to work with him.

I think I’ll write a book on Nigerian artisans one day.

Standard artisan format. Draw in customer, then drop the big cost once customer is committed.

Nigerians are masters of altering the deal.

A man in Thailand is recovering in hospital after a python latched its fangs onto his penis while he was using his toilet earlier this week.
Rescuers arrived to find the python's head hanging from the bathroom door, secured by a rope, with the rest of the snake still stuck in the squat toilet at the man's home in Chachoengsao Province, east of Bangkok.

I may know a little bit about security dogs so I am going to chime in. One of my many ventures in Nigeria before leaving over 20 years ago was the sale of high end security dogs. They were high end due to my sourcing methods and clientele at the time. That said, if you cannot train the dog yourself, have it professionaly trained in the US or overseas.

Naturally I like dogs and if I have to permanently live in Nigeria, l know how to get around it, I might get dog trainers and all that stuff, chai, Nigeria security situation is precarious sad

Sniper insecticide would do the job but hope it is for outside use as there are reports of its possible carcinogenic effects when used inside the house. Cheers

hello house. at the moment i decided to start following topics here with keen interest. i am a builder at the moment and well, i would say i have seen wowimg designs of everything from the internet to first eye experiences of what really nice homes look like. i spent a few years in europe and for one i must say i am still impressed how terrazzo flooring atill looks extermely beautiful unlike the nonsenses we have in Nigeria. no offence should be taken on this.

To the topic at hand, i am interested in doing flooring for the external part of my house and because its a country home where people dont go often, i am not keen on using interlocking as we all know one disadvantage it has. I also dont see the reason why I would spent almost N10,000 for concrete stamped floor when in real essence, its not worth the value and the beauty fades over time then we know the major one people who try to cut cost use, german flooring (if thats what it is called), where you just apply concrete and smoothen and that is all.

I have seen a few places abroad where they actually use that same concrete with stone chippings almost like normal gravel and any other kind of stone you want but in the end its treated the way terrazzo is being treated. so what you have as end result is concrete with gravel but smoothened out to look polished like terrazzo. It seems nothing more is applied to the surface as the " washing" gives its a "smooth" finish befitting for an exterior. I would upload pictures in a bit..

house what do you think of this idea? is it workable in Nigeria?

rats normlly live in poorly constructed sewer/soakaway pit, they et fecal matter , insects and the like.. this in turn attracts snakes whcich come to feed on the rats, and then the snakes go snooping around, and discovers the inlet pipe, swims tru the water lock.and bam..its inside your house.
smart rats are also known o pull off this stunt when pursued or when super hungry.

for snakes, best option is to periodically flush kerosene or ground bitterkola down the loo, say once a month or so... for rats...its more difficult to deter them

cc:rabsnecbit the 410k is complete cost for constructing the tank stand, prepping the foundation and installing?, i think you should try and get another quote and then compare with the original quote....70k is a lot of money to just loose like that -- though its not a total loss, as he has prepped the foundation already...abi am mistaken

It's workable , my advise is you have to inject into the process of production safety measures to guide against "slips and falls" as this would be a major drawback from people patronising or accepting the product.

If I had the time and resources I would take up this challenge as a project based invention

I agreed the N410k after a couple of guys here stated the N425k the welder originally quoted was not a bad quote. Yes he has already prepped the foundation, but bear in mind I supplied the cement, sand, water and granite, and he only supplied the labour and the iron rods, reason I believe the 70k for the foundation work is extortion!

Will you not have the same issue as interlocking blocks and paving slabs - weed and moss growing in between the or sprouting out through the grooves?
