In this part of the world, they don't pay them much really......( Social Media and Digital Marketers )

Most starts from 50K

Others 75 - 100k

The first Social Media Manager job i got offered me 75K ( Including Tax ).......

Then a good firm came along and offered me a virtual one for N100K on a contract.....

I later left the N75K peps and got another one for N100K ......other offers came while i was here but they were all offering 100K and abit above it
That's just that.......

Except firms that knows their onions that's just the typical SM/DM offer range in the market

Even Web designers are offered same range except Developer jobs from firms that knows what they are doing
Brother pls link me up.

Let the company Accountant sit down, calculate how much the company has at all and how much they think they can pay the social media manager. If the social media manager does not like it, let him look for another job or start his own company. Nothing is written in stone

Social Media Manager involves more than just knowing how to manage social media media accounts. You must know how to run adverts using the various social media platforms, able to engage customers online etc

dude if you need or want to work with a good social media you have to look at these things before paying someone like me for example

1) i have over 1500 subscribers on youtube, over half a million views and 12000 hours watched content

2) i have over 1200 usa followers on facebook, over 40 groups on facebook with over 1 million followers combined

3) i have close 1000 followers on twitter

4) over 200 followers on soundcloud

5) finally my social engagement is pretty high for a newbie

so for a brand to pay me to manager all their social network platform and grow it and mine cost me 50k monthly to run between internet data 15k and government electricity 35k total of 50k, that brand has to pay me a minimum of 120,000 naira monthly for me to work effectively for them and for a long time.

There's a new trend in the Labour market, I just want to give this advice. Most companies now merge Social Media roles & Graphics designer role. So if you intend pursuing Social Media as a career go learn graphics design to be relevant in future

I started Social Media Marketing (which included Management) around 2010 and my first fee was N50k a month. We were very few back then. Real Social Media Management is very hard work, especially back then when it included creating content. Now there are outfits which create Social Media content for about N200k per month.

I think a fair price for a fulltime employee as a Social Media Manager at entry level should be about N150,000 per month. For a freelancer, it depends on your skill level. For a hustler, you can take between N70,000 to N100,000. For a maestro you can charge as much as N350,000 per month with the assurance that you can grow engagement, community, and sales by a decent percentage. Also, if you're charging up to N350k a month, you must be able to show previous success stories, and guarantee that you can handle any unforseen online crisis which may come up 247, and you must be someone a brand can trust not to pull the kind of stunt someone pulled on the First Bank account on Twitter.

Social Media Management is really hard work. You must be on the watch round the clock, because you never know what could go wrong. Anyone can attack a brand at any time online. The brand can even mess up itself offline, and it would come online to bite you. Finally, you must be above mistakes. Spelling errors, grammar errors, then the greatest nightmare of all, posting content for your personal account on a client's account by mistake. shocked . Although some brands have a separate role for a Social Media Advertiser, but if the Social Media Manager is also the one running ADs, then you have to be extra watchful. Setting up the wrong kind of AD, wrong AD goals, or not capping your prices properly could cost you a whole lot.

The job is very stressful, especially with a client who pays very little. Such clients use a strategy of always calling and harassing the Social Media Consultant, to ensure they maximise their N30k. Then again, there are those who like to owe for months. Beware of the debtors if you're a freelancer. A brand I ran campaigns for in the middle of 2014 when $1 was N160 paid me around the middle of 2015 when $1 had become more than N250...and they paid me at N160 to the dollar. In fact, that was the last brand I managed on Social Media.

I stopped being a Social Media Manager around 2014, but a brand is planning to pull me back in with a decent offer. I may just come back to this thread and pick one of you who says N50k per month is good, then I'll sit back and supervise. smiley

These days, I'm more of an influencer (I hate to use that word). I talk about good brands, products, personalities, events, music, and policies online, with the intent of creating engagement, and swaying opinions, or at least encouraging a trial. It's far better that way because I know most of the money I'm paid is mine. I can speak in my own language and tone using my own handles or accounts.

This is absolutely untrue. Social media is a full blown career that entails a whole lot on its own - it cuts across different specialties - social media(analyst, content writer, manager, etc). For graphics design -
it is equally an extensive field as well (other than the usual manipulation of visual tools e.g adobe, visio, we also have expert designers who are UX, UI or just Interface designers at best). Just how much of all these do you think you need to learn to become a top professional social media person or a very good designer?

So stating that you'll need to learn graphics design to be relevant as a social media specialist in future is not entirely true.

PS: You may as well need to learn what I think will prove most critical to a social media career person which is - Data analytics (The ability of using data to generate insights that can help you make/take well informed decisions on behalf of the organisation you're working for)

This dude is just a noise maker. I doubt it if he actually knows what proper social media management entails. You think its just about amassing and engaging followers(which be the way are largely inorganic) using all those voodoo techniques you guys use. Anyone can do that!

Have you ever sat your ass down to plan content?
Analyse who your followers actually are or why they follow your brand? Built a customer profile or user persona for a product page? etc...,please with all you have said...you're the last person I'll even consider employing as a social media manager. (Just check out the many typos in your words to begin with...is that how you'll be managing people's account all riddled with typos?)

You're only as good as a social media influencer (nothing else) and that even depends on the brand/product.

Good thing you already have experience in critical attributes for social media excellence which is customer service and data!

You can actually get started by first learning what social media is all about. Get to know the nitty gritty of other aspects of digital marketing generally.

There are several Free learning resource platforms for such e.g future learn, Google, Udemy etc. Then once done, you're good to good. You can start applying for openings in social media.

Social media manager
If i may ask, the window page you created or the owner pay to create the window, build his customer and security, pay for advert, and now only for you to monitor the site, is that what you call manager and you want the owner to pay you big money. if your not a dreamer then your semi thief. If you are Social media expert why can't create your own, is all about create a site fill it with your intentions, build and attract customers and pay your self. No job for lazy graduate's

When you learn that the social media space is a career field while fast changes will keep occurring, then you'll understand the reason for the current trend. I equally stated somewhere that "Data analytics" is an area where employers are now recently seeking new talents for social media. Now relate all that!
