ruggedtimi:Aside from the compensation, you could make a fortune out of selling space debris, i hope you know that. There's a show called "Space dealers" for auctioning space debris. Before i release anything at all, I'll make sure i first steal the technology behind it. That's the most important. |

eodavids:This space station (and it's current successor Tiangong-2) have been given an operational life of 4-6 years after which they were planned to be decommissioned. Granted the original plan was for Tiangong-1 to be commanded for a controlled descent, however it ceased functioning in March 2016. There are lessons to be learned for sure, but nobody learned to walk without crawling and falling. China is currently building its more permanent space lab, based on lessons learned here. It's funny we're having this discussion - very similar to the doubts that Japan could make durable goods in the 1960s. What saddens me is people's apparent joy (not necessarily you, but in general), about this "failure", when China is only the third country to independently launch humans into space. We're here typing on phones made in China, increasingly made with Chinese machines, using telecommunications towers made by China (using Chinese firmware), blasting Chinese things for being fake. While all this is happening, 30 years from now after China's ascendancy, we'll probably be laughing at Vietnam's "fake" products without ever making things of our own. Japan has developed; as has Taiwan; South Korea; China... and we're still struggling to provide drinking water, roads, and constant electricity - problems mostly solved since 1890. |

nextstep:You have a point. Our situation here in Nigeria is miserable. Profer a solution please. Its not sufficient to mention a problem. Try and point way forward bmy man |
