Read my post you quoted again.

That's what I'm saying.

So because The Weeknd is a bigger artist in the USA,he should get everything he wants.

WizKid has a record label registered as StarBoy Entertainment and he has been calling himself StarBoy for more than 4 years now. Other than the Weeknd releasing a track called StarBoy in 2016 and calling himself StarBoy since then, what other claim does he have to the StarBoy name?

is the weeknd maad? before his starboy album, who knew him as starboy? wizkid has been using the name since leaving EME in like 2012 or there about, and the weeknd's starboy that was just in 2016 here he's claiming ownership of the name? e be like say he lost his sense when he cut that his tree looking dada

the question is who filed legal papers to trademark the name? Weeknd did

Even if wizzy has been using it since, he should have filed for a trademark since he's a big deal and can make money out of the name. Just like Chinua Achebe filed for all his books titles and other things he thought are needful, that was why he didn't allow 50 cent use 'things fall apart' as a movie title.

Weeknd may not be the starboy to you, but he's gotten trademarks and there can't be two starboys that can be officially recognised.

I don't know, but am I the only one here who is irritated anytime someone tries to make a point and, instead, end up littering the whole cyberspace with insults?

what's up with the name calling? All the insults you aimed there doesn't make your points any clearer.

Besides, I'm surprise you think your 5 minutes of research would be enough to negate the claim put forward by professionals advising these Artistes.

you give you and your 5 minutes of research TOO MUCH CREDIT BRO.

wizkid is irrelevant on the global scene.

His record only makes sense to the African music scene. This will play against him.

I repeat, the guy is an absolute fool! angry

His advisers are absolutely ignorant human beings! angry

REASON:

You didn't even advise the goat to apply for a trademark, you advised him to go and fight anyone who applies for a trademark that is not yours, and that was NEVER yours! angry What sort of dumb advice is that? angry

Here is another reason:

They are contesting that the guy who applied for the trademark wants to use to make money! angry

He has not even applied for the said trademark! angry

Wizkid should just join the queue before the fool does! angry
Of course Wizkid can't because he's in Africa! angry Ojuelegba, I guess! angry
Re: The Weeknd To Sue Wizkid And Artistes That Trademark "Starboy" by KingOvo(m): 11:28pm On Apr 02, 2018
All this rant won't change anything, as long as Wizkid did not trademark the name legally, if The Weeknd does, he has no legal right to use the name. It's Wizkid's lack of foresight that's to blame not The Weeknd.

There's a record label called "Starboy Entertainment". Wizkid owns it! angry It has been up for at least 5 years! angry

He hasn't trademarked it! angry

Goat? Loser? lool.

Guy are you frustrated or what

You can call him whatever but he's richer than any celebrity in Nigeria.

And after reading again I think this whole story is even cooked up.. The person he's suing is not Wizkid, I doubt he even knows Wizkid..
But if he's acquired the trademark for any particular context then he has the right to sue anyone who tries to copy, at his disadvantage.

No let emotional Nigerians swamp you ohh.

when I want to listen to some "good boy" music, SAM SMITH is my man.

however, when you're in your BAD MAN mood, you definitely need some talented sh!t. in other words, some Abel Tesfaye.

The opening beat alone before the weeknd starts singing in the starboy track would Make the judges rule in his favour. As soon as he's Finnish the first verse, the judges will probably be the one to sue anybody who's trying to contaminate the Starboy brand! grin

Yeah I also fw Sam Smith. I love his last album (the song 'No Peace' in particular)
But Abel is my Number 1.
I have over 100 of his songs on my device.

In any case, no one has mentioned Wizkid here other than the fake Nigerian blogger.
