Why didnt dangote build this refinery in the Niger Delta area so another region produces the oil and the lagos benefits from the jobs created by this refinery what a mishap!!!
That will be a wrong calculation. Business is better situated where the market is and more so Ondo and Lagos produced crude oil tu, the company is between the two states it may have nothing to do with Niger Delta oil at end of the day

Why would you want to live near a Petrol Chemical plant? C'mon man.
You could buy a plot of land for commercial purposes as well as to resell later, knowing fully well that land appreciates with time, infact the price of the plot will appreciate very very soon especially the commissioning of the lekki deep seaport by Mr president last week during his visit to Lagos and there is an opportunity to own a free plot of land if you buy 6plots(you know how my much that would translate into in about 3years time shocked) not necessarily for residential purpose.Trust me this is the best time to buy yours now

Having said all that,it's an opportunity for investors to own a plot now as the price will appreciate very soon because of all the developments going around there.imagine buying a plot of land for #600000 and reselling in three years time for like #5m per plot, and if you buy 6plots now you get 1plot free so imagine the enormous profit in investment...you can contact me for inspection

Oga in a realistic and well planned area residential and commercial business are never cited near a refinery and petrochemical plant. I know you are trying to sell your real estate, but let us look at the environmental implications rather than our quest for profits

I was in Ghana sometime ago and I found out that Dangote cement in Ghana is 800 while in Nigeria it is about 2,000+ The same Nigeria he produces the cement for export who is deceiving who here? see we need to wake up and realise that this man will become the sole driver of price in the downstream sector just like in cement. He is the reason why building prices remain high.

Monopoly has always been how Dangote works that is why he sold his noodle business to Multipro(indomie) because he saw he couldn't tackle competition by giving competitive prices for his products.

With all these, one would never see Dangote or wealthy Northerners from Kano brag about their investments (in billions)in the other parts of the country.

Meanwhile, ordinary gala hawkers and spare part dealers in 2*2 shops will be foaming in the mouths of how they are the richest.

Indeed, only empty barrels make the loudest noise.
wealthy northerners you say?, apart from oil or governor, what else can they do. the person in 2×2 shop sees hell before making any profit and should be proud of himself, not a lazy ass person whose only source of wealth is oil well.

Are you a Nigerian? Haven't you heard of bans on import? This is monopoly brewing and if the price of cement couldn't be reduced by Dangote, how can we expect a reduction in the prices of petroleum products?
elephant cement, bua cement and unicem are not produce by dangote...and even govt hv approved licensed to others to build refineries... one have started his own too in bayelsa... Nig economy is a free market

you cant allow imported products to drive local industries into extinction and that is why people like dangote are allowed to do what they do. our textile, automotive and agricultural industries are finding it difficult to remain relevant because of cheap imports from abroad and that is a huge disservice to the economy. if only you said other people are banned from producing the same products which he produces locally then i will agree with you.

Azikel refinery in bayelsa is also coming which obj inaugurated recently though not big like ds and govt also approved licence to others... nothing like monopoly

Is it not strange that a whole Nigerian government cannot build a refinery or maintain the ones already on ground but a single person is building one.
We are yet to know the real reason why government past and present refused to build or maintain the refinery on ground.

With the kind of money states are owing it is also strange that even state governments of oil producing states also refused to build refinery or won't build one or can't build one.

As far as I am concerned something is fishy here like chibok and dapchi stories

Elder statesmen are people who have held positions of power and are now retired.

It's like calling Gates, Buffet and Zuckerberg elder statesmen just because they have money, instead of Bush, Clinton and Co.

Why would you expect a businessman who is using his own money to care about all of the things you mention? Would you go into a new business with such things in your mind, or would you concentrate on getting the maximum return on your investment?

Dangote's entire fortune has been built on monopolies, and it's ridiculous to expect him to suddenly change his modus operandi and start acting as if he were running a charity: there must be a monopolistic angle to this new refinery that Dangote is counting on to more than recoup his investments.
show me one monopoly dangote currently has. Don't go and work, be there ranting

It is monopoly when only one man dominates the oil market. Such monoply are actually supposed to be controlled by government because its only governments that should be monopolist for industries that cant be provided commonly but we know we have incompentent ones so Yes, we need an alternative but the question is this how many people can just build a refinery?

Thats how his cement company started and today, we know the cost of one bag. Dangotes price determines the price for most other cement industries that surfaced later. He is already a monopolist and already, the refineries is about to make him a god and i dont servicing a god comes cheap.

Just like we focused on the positives when he took over the cement industry. Today Nigerians buy cement at double the price in the international market. Where are the forex we saved from the alleged cheaper alternatives. Nnpc must be made to account to the public. We can't continue on this part of concentrating the common wealth of this country in the hands of one man.

By the time he ends up controlling, Housing via cement , Petroleum, and the food industry it's going to be a total disaster for the masses

For those dancing shaky shaky over this refinery;
1. Dangote refinery is a private refinery and is not owned by the Nigerian government and as such may chose to sell more to consumers abroad paying a higher price than consumers locally.
2. This refinery is just one. The U.S. has 141 refineries with about the top 5 being same capacity as dangote refinery, yet petrol is not cheaper in the U.S than it is currently in Nigeria.
3.I will say more after you reply with something stupid. grin
