You notice he looks Igbo...very muscular? If I saw him on the road, I would think he is Igbo. Igbo men are built like rock, not like Afonja who are built like eba...no muscles. I'm sure that Wale asking him is only pretending, in his mind he is a typical afonja you see here on Nairaland who is jealous he picked an Igbo. Why won't he pick an Igbo name when he looks Igbo. Does he look like Yoruba to you? If you want an actor that looks yoruba and what him to pick yoruba name, then go and find Hounsou...attached pic. Always dragging feet with Igbos as if Igbos are your mate; this is the kind of insult Igbos receive in this country. SMH and hissing!
Hey, you must stop this igbo and afonja thing, and it stops right now. what is your problem? is it not same blood that flows through all your veins? It is people like you breaking up this country. SMH

Yes o. A super solid boxer. And by the way, what happened to that guy? I was expecting him to challenge for the world titles, but he suddenly disappeared into thin air.

I'm thinking Chimamanda Adichie, Chinua Achebe, Uzomaka Aduba, NwaAmaikpe, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Nnamdi Asomugha, Jidenna Mobison, Lemar Obika have made the West think Nigerian names are only Igbo.
Can't you readhuh

He chose the name specifically to pay homage to Christian Okoye.

What is Gringo? It is not a popular Yoruba name and if you check well, it means a loy in other languages in the world. As for the "Dope"...it was pronounced as DOPE...a synonym used in describing something that is classy eg: "Mehn, this car is dope!" and not your yoruba Dope name. Small thing now una go claim say NIKE (the sports wear manufacturing giant) is Nike (Shape form of Adenike).

As for you mentioning yorubas doing well outside, don't even go there because a list of Igbos making waves in different spheres of life in diaspora will drown your Yoruba list.
Is rampage (Movie name) the igbo there or Okoye (movie cast)? It's all about movie cast not the movie title.
And quoiting you, "Searching Google and Wikipedia looking for an actor who used af*nja name in a movie to counter this news!"
You yourself even said actor name in movie i.e movie cast. The cast is all we're talking about here not the movie title and you even know that initially judging by your post. Did you suddenly lost your memory or got confused? All the movies I posted have Yoruba name casts as you've requested. Don't confuse yourself boy.
I'm not talking about 'Nigerian Yoruba' outside, Nigerian Yoruba equally have many Yorubas in disapora or even more who have made name for themselves. What has helped Igbos in diaspora is high rate of migration of Igbo people all around Nigeria and outside Nigeria.
The names I mentioned, I was referring to Non-Nigeria Yorubas in other african countries. I was referring to other Africa countries/nationality which have minor Yoruba tribe or Yoruba related tribes. Fuse ODG from Ghana is also an example.
Anyway, what is important is to make it personally for yourself in life, the only thing you have is what belongs to you. If someone from your tribe/country/state/continent achieve anything, that doesn't put food on anyone's table. More reason for us to grow up, embrace love and stop this tribe thing. Let's love one another. If we are in the same southern Nigeria and finds it hard to love one another, that's very sad and pathetic. Nigeria is not the only African country with different tribes. I've never seen any Ghanian do this tribe nonsense before, you will always think they have same tribe and language. It's time to stop this thing.

95 interactions, How do you make such assumptions from 95 interactions? I'm neither igbo, yoruba or hausa and i like or quote comments if/when i please. Some people do it because they fancy the poster or they just feel like or it was funny to them. Calm your nerves. 90 likes on an online forum is not equal to 90 votes of agreement from a particular group of people.
It is a very wrong assumption.
You're not Igbo, Yoruba or Hausa but you just like a tribalistic post on social media. Really? Anybody can like any post they fancy or find funny, but when it comes to tribalistic specific post, we all know majority of such likes come from same tribe people with the poster. Especially when there are many posts but the 90 likers are meticulous enough to like only each of the tribalisitc posts while other neutral post get no or few likes. Even if there are likes from neutral people, it's a minor percentage. We all just need to change this tribe mentality and learn to accept and love one another. There are already enough issues on ground. Adding hate and tribe discrimination to it is just folly. Why do black people like to hate one another? It's very pathetic.

Don't be ignorant. It's common sense thing. Someone post something, 90 likes it, only 5 person quotes it to correct it. 90 ratio 5.
You don't need the whole population, one only needs a sample of a population to know the fact. Anyway, you said I shouldn't coat you again. No problem. I've tried to be reasonable and polite enough. If hate is what you're brought up with in your tribe, hate is not a virtue to our tribe, that's the reason why i'm always surprised at the immaturity of your people. Thank you.
You are insane.

If you are representative of how your tribe behave , then you deserve every hate that comes your way.

You are a sick bigoted worm trying hard to mimic the chameleon.

Here we go again with our God foresaken neighbor. Yoruba has Wole Soyinka, David Oyewole, Akinwale Agbaje, Ajayi Lycett, John Boyega, Sade Adu, Seal Henry Olusegun Anthony OluwaFemi Joshua n many other the westerners weren’t thinking Nigerians name were only Yoruba.

But once the Igbo tribe struggle to achieve any insignificant shiit you deluded souls from The mud enclave will not let us hear word again on NL.

Let's learn to forgive one another my brother. I do have similar experience from my side too but it's a privilege to have one another, two great tribe in the same southern region. Much could have been achieved assuming there is love. I always feel saddened any time I go on social media and I see tribe discriminating posts between Igbos and Yorubas. Please let's love one another. We can all achieve much better together. We are same black people, and have lived together for many years, if we don't love ourselves, who will love us? Let love reign. God bless Igbos, God bless Yorubas.

My polite post demanded using the word 'insane' for me? I already composed about a page of hurtful things in reply to you but I just deleted every thing. I don't have to do that. I'm not here for that.
Then, since you said we deserve every hate that comes our way, no problem. Let everyone continue his ways, either good or bad. There is a repercussion for everything. Have a nice day.

Tribalism is bad, yes. You labeling majority of igbos tribalists because of a mere 90 likes on a tribalistic online post is balderdash.
Everyday, i see tribalistic posts on this and other online platforms from Nigerians of different ethnicities, it's not just igbos.

MAJORITY is a very false assumption

Alright, majority or minority, let us all embrace love. If our fore father live that way, we the educated youths of today should grow above tribe barriers. Especially I don't see a reason for Yoruba-Igbo online conflict all the time. We should let that end with our present generation. We need a better future for our children. Let's all discourage those who instigate social media tribe discrimination.

They can go and die with their hate.

Shouting from the rooftop that you are igbo is not a legitimate reason for hate .

When drug dealers are caught , I remember others calling them igbos.

My problem is not about shouting from the rooftop. Igbos are a great people afterall.

I have issues with how it is done.
