Don't Imitate Celebrities When You Want To Do Charitable Deeds by alBHAGDADI: 9:56am On Apr 15, 2018
These days, it is common to see celebrities posting pictures of themselves helping the needy. It could be at an orphanage home or some beggars on the street. Trust me, it is really good to help those in need, but the motive behind doing such is what determines whether what you just did is good or bad.

This month alone, I've seen Nigerian celebrities go on social media to show the world how they are helping others. First it was Kiss Daniel who posted a picture which shows him giving food and money to beggars on the street on Easter. Then came B-Red, an associate of Davido, who filmed himself sharing N500 notes to kids on the street, kids who didn't really look like they were suffering. As if I had not seen enough of such this month, Daddy Freeze also had himself in a video with his baby mama sharing food to destitute.

To a not well trained Christian mind, what the above folks did is cool and good, but when examined carefully, one will find that it is not pleasing in God's eyes. Don't you all think it is absurd giving someone your phone to record you while you are doing charitable deeds? It becomes more absurd when you upload it on social media. To what ends? To show the world that you are kind and to receive praises from men?

If the intention to give came genuinely from the heart, you won't want anyone to see you doing it. If the intention to help the needy came as a result of you wanting to please God, you will do it before His eyes only. But if the intention is to get praises from men, then you will do it before men and broadcast it as far as it can go.

Kiss Daniel's intention wasn't to help the beggars but to get praises from his social media fans who indeed praised him for the gesture.

Watching the video in which B-Red is seen giving money to kids, one will instantly know that he didn't care about the kids who really didn't look like they needed his money. He just gave it to them cos that's what he needed to do to get praises from men. However, his gesture proved abortive as his Instagram fans blasted him for filming himself doing such. grin grin grin

As for Daddy Freeze, one can easily know that he decided to help the destitute with food just to prove a point. He wanted his deceived fans to see that he helps the needy unlike the pastors he loves to criticize whom he claims would rather use the money to buy private jets.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fYUU0HkdE14

Recording himself while in the act shows that he never did it to help the needy. His action is even worse than the pastors whom he claims don't help. The reason why we don't know that these pastors help might be because they don't show it in the media.

Daddy Freeze claims he follows the teachings of the Bible. Let's see whether his actions as seen in the video goes in line with the teachings of Jesus Christ whom he says his Free The Sheeple Movement In Christ is modeled after.

Mathew 6:2-4

2 So when you give to the needy, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be praised by men. Truly I tell you, they already have their reward.

3 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,

4 so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

Can you all now see that celebrities who flaunt their good deeds on social media are not really doing it for the needy and not for God, but for men to praise them.

If their actions on social media is inspiring you to do the same i.e post pictures or videos of yourself helping the needy, I'll advice you to have a rethink. Go out there and help the needy but don't let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. Obeying that commandment shows you are a true Christian.

This post is to prevent you from allowing celebrities influence your life cos their life is fake.

I concur. All I see is eye service. Moreover, if they really care about others, there's more they can do with their voice and influence than giving them things that can do little to change their condition and showing it to the public.

Listen, I keep telling people the same thing:

The purpose of publicizing charity is for enlightenment

If people didn't publicize it when they help others, how would we have known?

If the good deeds of Christ wasn't in the Bible, how would we have known that we're supposed to help others?

There are a billion and one ways of helping people, and most have been publisized; so now we know

We are now enlightened

If you want to help others and don't make it public, all well and good

If you want to do it in secret, all well and good

All blessings are from God

When others are helping and posting it on social media, It's not your help and it's not your social media, so don't tell them what to do

You're a sinner like everyone else

So, leave God to judge the hypocrites

In my honest opinion, i don't see nothing wrong with giving alms to the needy and posting pictures or videos of it... If we all take this step for showoff/showbiz, y'all know how less our societies will be filled with poor people.

You people are all up Drake's as$ when he released his GOD'S PLAN VIDEO and now, you all salty cos B'red posted a video of him giving out and suddenly, it is inappropriate. Lmao, y'all can do better!!!

Charitable giving is a type of PR by celebrities, it has nothing to do with the bible and their reward is instant. Nothing comes from heaven.

One of the gold chains bred has can sponsor all those kids from secondary school to masters level. Black man is inherently selfish. People go to church to thank God that their dogs eat better than their neighbors.

Was it Jesus Christ himself that publicized his deeds?

If you do good according to his command in the OP, you will be rewarded openly.

Jesus Christ did so many good and even told those he blessed not to mention it to anyone. But today, we read about those good deeds. That's how God blesses those who obey Him by doing good in secret.

Read and understand, cos no one really cares to know whether you did good or not. Just keep it to yourself.

This OP still can't get Freeze out of his mouth.

Instead of ignoring him you are unknowingly and inadvertently giving him more publicity.

All this lengthy write up with so much folly.

You haven't given a mite to anyone yet you type this crate of codswallop.

Everybody is struggling for front page topic. Added to the möronic mods too who push every stupïd post to said front page.By evening time it will be BB Naija rubbish that will flood the same front page.

Those that have not given a penny to the needy are far better in God's eyes than those who gave but broke his commandment concerning giving.

Tell Freeze to get Christianity off his false doctrines, then we can talk.

Lol.

False doctrine you say?

Guy get off your high horse and stop disturbing us this morning with your needless rants.

Tell your bishop's and GOs that are more concerned with building their kingdoms here on earth and flaunting their possessions and calling it God's glory to stop their own false doctrines too before you talk about Freeze. Grow some balls and try questioning some of these chaff they are feeding you instead of mumuicly jumping on people with different opinions.

At least Freeze has an argument. You and your ilk thrive on abuses and insults and attacks on personality as your main stay.

I've done that several times, and I make sure not to leave any stone unurned by include Freeze. How you have a problem with that is what I don't know.

Perhaps, Freeze is never wrong to his GOATS.

Publicity stunts...all of them. Doing a charity and having it publicized. If you want to share...go ahead and share....it's over with...keep it moving. Someone recorded and posted it on line...so be it....that was not your intention to have it out there. These celebrities?...no cameras no charities.
Re: Don't Imitate Celebrities When You Want To Do Charitable Deeds by Nobody: 1:06pm On Apr 15, 2018
@ op you did well by posting this. As raised by someone the essence of publicity giving is to create awareness on the need to give. How do you know the intention of one's giving when you don't see the heart? I may give and share it on this platform to encourage others to give not to insult those who don't give like what daddy freeze is doing. So publicity giving isn't a bad idea at all. Am sure if everyone of us do this, the level of poverty would reduce drastically.
