http://www.citypeopleonline.com/rights-tenant-lagos-details-lagos-state-tenancy-law/ Depending on what is stated in your tenancy contract. Did you sign any with her? No matter what do, she can not just throw you out as soon as rent expires. She needs to give you time to get a place like a month or three after your rent expires. |

Ganjafama:It depends on your tenancy agreement and whether you pay your rent monthly or yearly. In this case, since your rent is yet to expire, there is little she can do to get you out. Even after your rent expires, she can not use force to get you out, you either pack out voluntarily or you will be evicted through a court order. If she threaten you or attempt to use force to get you out, report to the police immediately. You must be given a quit notice before she can legally evict you, and the grace period to look for another accomodation starts counting from the date you receive the quit notice. If you are a yearly tenant, the grace period is 6 months, if you are a half yearly tenant, the grace period is 3 months and if you are a monthly tenant, the grace period is 7 days. |
