No offense taken, but I gave my opinion which I can back up by elemental cost of the building. Even if drawings and specifications are provided, I'll still convince you that it was an inflated project. Its just my opinion, you can prove me wrong
Few things
1. You gave your opinion.....absolutely no doubt....but that opinion "came up short".
2. Now you say you can back up by elemental cost of the building. Aside from the false start of not doing that ab-initio, did the report tell you that the scope of the project is limited to "elemental cost of the building"?
3. Bros, it is my opinion grin that you're far away from projects of this magnitude both in age, career-grade and exposure and it will be wise you keep your head down and learn. When you jump to make conclusions and you cannot analytically back up those conclusions, it leaves me wondering ......more like freshers trying to process executive decisions and doing a terrible job at it.

You're very right, I have never worked on a project which is valued at 24billion. I am at best the 12-13billion kind of guy. That said, I never told you the project was even valued using the elemental cost estimation method. If you were patient enough to understand my message and not trying to slander me, you will understand that what I typed was that the method can give an approximate value/ rough estimate of the building.

You so gave your opinion which I can't question, but you're not even giving me a valid reason why the building will cost that much. Like different people posted on the thread which I did confirm some, there are a few buildings which are similar to this said one and the cost is not even close to the cost of this. Now an argument can even be made for it that they were not constructed in the same time period. Don't justify something that is not even realistic. If you truly are in the construction sector and you believe the cost of this building is true, then there must be a problem. If you tell me the basis of my analysis are unfounded, i will not argue with you. Try and get more information like you said and then out me to work so I will prove you wrong.

1. Similar buildings? You mean the hotels in South Africa? You mean I should rely on "apples and oranges" as basis of comparison?
2. What you don't get is, we don't need to be in the "construction sector" to make rational judgments. While you struggle to try to prove wrong the N24b cost, people with more insight would rather ask the simple question, "What is the scope of this project"?

Then tell me what convinces you that the building is actually worth the cost?
Who is talking about hotels in South Africa, the Scotland yard is there for you to look at. At least the finishes and the gadgets/equipment in it were not made available to us.

1.Can you not see the contradiction in your submission here?
2. In your rush to use Scotland yard as basis, a simple google search would have shown you this report

The Yard - also known as the Met, short for Metropolitan Police Service - is trying to slash US$800 million from its budget over the next 2-1/2 years.

That has meant looking at selling the family silver, or in this case, some of the force's large property holdings - stations, operation centres and the like.

The current headquarters, which the Yard has occupied since 1967, costs nearly US$18 million a year to maintain and is in need of a US$80 million upgrade, making it an "expensive luxury," Deputy Commissioner Craig Mackey said. He acknowledged the iconic value of the site, but said policing came first.

Is Scotland Yard about to inflate too?

Yeah, since you base your judgement on specifications and details.

Just tell me what makes it cost so much. I am still baffled. #24billion naira.
No matter the amount if review of the BOQ, #24billion is much. I am trying to tell you that the price of most of the items constructing this building was inflated. Its too much.

if EFCC can erect this 2billion naira structure and say its 24billion... then we are finished

I do not blame Buhari for saying Nigerian youths are lazy. He would have even said they are senseless too because Nairaland is a clear example of where you really see how jobless and senseless Nigerian youths are. Commenting and analyzing what doesnt make sense is a big shame.

May God help Nigeria.
You just commented. That also makes you lazy, jobless and senseless since commenting is the yardstick 4 measuring laziness, joblessness and senselessness.

I'm a quantity surveyor and I can't just come and give a rough estimate without putting thing like material used for internal finishes into consideration because I can't see them but I personally feel that 24 billion should have done something better anywhere in the world....
Thank you very much my brother you've spoken well.

I'v seen the progress of the building at least once or twice a week for the past two years. I must say a top notch, quality work was done there by Julius Berger. QUALITY was always shouting from the construction but definitely not worth 24 Billion. Some people have Fed fat on the project. At MOST, 15B should put down that work.

That building can NEVER be #24B. If the newly commissioned Deeper Life H/Qs is put for #5B!
