It is rather unfortunate that Donald Duke of all persons could descent so low to call NOI a "failure" on His reply for personal encounter with him?
NOI, never used any derogatory statement or words to explain her encounter with Him. I weep for Nigeria. Donald Duke, a politician without guts. Pls think deeper before you talk Mr. Tourism.
Exactly my thought bro.

I was thinking he was going to use whatever NOI threw at him to make himself appear as a better man with lots of wisdom instead he opted for the same mudslinging tactics they are well known for.

You don't diss people like NOI even in a subtle manner , you respond in such a manner that will give them sleepless nights - making them look petty in nature.

Most Nigerian politicians and technocrats are dumb ,always blinded by their quest for self interest and this is one reason why we are still here.

as a crossriverian i will have to disagree with you...ill say he is thr best governor we've had even though he's tenure was a bit brutal but still it was for the good of the masses... the multi billion naira project which is of cause "tinapa" was all good until he stepped down and imoke and ayade has failed to simply do what is right

Imoke and Ayade did not kill Tinapa. It was the federal government.

For Tinapa to succeed, it would have needed to have been designated a special economic zone with low import duties. It will be like a Dubai in Nigeria where people travel to buy cheap things.

Unfortunately, Obasanjo, Nigeria's foremost protectionist would have none of it. No special import duties for it.

Blame the FG and not Duke

You know him very well jare. The debt he left in Cross River State. The current governor is still paying till today. He sold metropolitan hotel to himself and other properties belonging to the state. Today he is a saint.

On what grounds did you believe those people you mentioned would perform well? Starting with Buhari as the most recent case.

I am no Nigerian, but it was quickly obvious to me that Buhari would fail to the task. Next time vote wisely by carrying out a proper evaluation of candidates.

In 2015, the best candidate was in my opinion Engr. Martins Onovo.

$16 billion by Obasanjo who has installed Yar’Adua, Jonathan and Buhari while we were all sleeping.
The same Obasanjo is getting ready to actualise his 3rd term by tipatipa hence his 3rd force movement.

You're right. Like Sowore said, Obasanjo's third FARCE will be swept away and all of them crooked thieves will have their day in court.

Only if Nigerian youths can come behind him massively for this bloodless revolution.

Why not dispute his assertion rather that attack Duke's personality; did Okonjo-Iweala leave Nigeria poorer than she met it or not. The statistics are there in black and white.

During Jonathan's regime, there was gross misappropriation of fund, corruption and stealing. Despite the fact that Naira was stable because the sales of oil reached 150 dollars per barrel and we were rich, Jonathan's government was wasteful and miserable.
Buhari :
At the time most people were tired of Jonathan's miserable government, buhari was like the only better choice we have because he was perceived to be a strong anticorruption leader.

Donald Duke has NOTHING to offer. As governor of Cross River he destroyed the states finances by engaging in a fairy tale multi billion naira project that has proved unviable.
As governor, he formed a cartel that hounded and brutalized the opposition in Cross River.

He is a man really full of himself. In 2003 he was informally offered the VP slot but turned it down on the grounds that he was too big to be vice to anybody. Jonathan did not have such issues.

Omoyele Sowore has spoken about young people who are just as useless as the older generation. Donald Duke is not a person we should entrust power to - as Ngozi Iweala has just proven.
Trust Donald Duke at your own risk.
A man who ban employment in the state till date the ban has not been lifted.
A man who in his 8yrs in power didn't think about promotion for civil servants in the state.
I can never forget 2003 the killing in the state

Buhari has not failed if you are able to reason objectively, considering what the resources he met on ground. Nigeria went into recession in 2014 against the backdrop of high oil prices. Iweala was borrowing to pay salaries and about 20 states could not pay their salaries until Buhari bailed them out.

My major issues with buhari is insecurity, vis-a-vis herdsmen killings and failure to finally defeat boko haram along with his nepotism.

In as much it was rebased in 2014, it has been adopted as a measure and the decline is the concern.

On your quote with some other member you could aswell highlight that of this govt.

BUHARI;
Met $38bn
As at current - $47bn with Euro bonds/Treasury bills etc and a debt of $27bn (in just 3 years)

Most important thing is he confirmed what is in Dr NOI's book as true that he indeed met her. The other part of his tweet is his opinion and depends on the political divide of the individual reading the tweet. He is indirectly showing his true colours to the public.

Things are about to get messy.

The most important is why he didn't want her to take the job? Both 'respected' Nigerians agree that they were friends. She claimed that he didn't want Jonathan to succeed. He insinuated that it was because he didn't want her to be further humiliated after her first time out didn't end well.

My Take: Ngozi wanted the job. Duke didn't like Jonathan. The tug was between two business interests; Peterside and Jonathan, both representing different private business interests. At the end of her tenure, Ngozi attributed her underperformance to lack of political will. Forces were too strong, obviously

You are not alone. I kept wondering where her interests were all through her tenure - IMF or Nigeria!
l

Both elements can align. All the success stories in Asia/South America bar China and Vietnam rode on the back of the IMF. IMF has provided us more low-interest loans than any other nation in Africa. What did we use them for? It's easy to blame IMF when the leadership and political structure is abysmal.

The GIMPIS, IPPIS, TSA et cetera were all set up with priceless assistance from the World Bank and IMF both in the planning in her first stint, and going live in the second stint.

And if her interests were only aligned with the IMF, she'd have signed off on the EU-ECOWAS EPA deal. She lost the World Bank President election because she was not the anointed candidate of the US. Read and be informed.
