Donald Duke is the best governor that Nigeria has ever had. He created a very high standard of governance that many still struggle to match till date. So if he said that NOI was a failure, believe it or not, NOI was a failure.

Bloody useless lies.

She resigned.

She was SACKED. Obasanjo sacked her as finance minister and moved her to foreign affairs. She resigned as foreign affairs minister.
Obasanjo did not want to humiliate her by sacking her directly and so demoted her (foreign minister is one of the most important post in Nigeria and besides that is her area of core competence, she knows next to nothing about diplomacy ). So Obasanjo gave her the option of resignation to save face.

I really don't understand the hype around NOI. Is it because she's igbo? Obasanjo literally fired her when he moved her from the Finance to the foreign affairs ministry. He even did that to help her save face. If he had explicitly sacked her, she wouldn't have been rehired by the world bank. Donald duke was actually vindicated because NOI showed her true colours under Jonathan. More money was stolen under Jonathan than has never been witnessed since the days of Abacha! And this woman was at the helm.

She was not fired. She resigned.

All you unfortunate dimwits.

Yar'Adua called her back and she refused twice! And she did not leave Nigeria poorer than she met it. If you have any stat to prove that, bring it out.

The NOI hate is DOA.

Oga that loves to twist facts, she resigned from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs! Obasanjo removed her as Finance minister and moved her to foreign affairs because he didn't explicitly want to sack her. She saw the writing on the wall and resigned.

During Jonathan's regime, there was gross misappropriation of fund, corruption and stealing. Despite the fact that Naira was stable because the sales of oil reached 150 dollars per barrel and we were rich, Jonathan's government was wasteful and miserable.
Buhari :
At the time most people were tired of Jonathan's miserable government, buhari was like the only better choice we have because he was perceived to be a strong anticorruption leader.
I Never said Jonathan was a good leader. In my opinion He was a Bad leader.

Remember your post which I reacted to: Jonathan was among those You voted for, and it was a poor choice. So my remark still applies. Vote wisely.

Nigerian should stop voting as a reaction of anger to a previous bad leader. They should vote in an informed and rational manner, not out of anguish. From what I see on nairaland, you people are likely to make another mistake in 2019.

Perceived by whom? You hoped a man who disregards the constitution to present himself as a candidate without Waec, would suddenly work for the constitution?

Buhari was no better choice. Martins Onovo was by all account a better choice than Buhari.

NB: I personally believe Buhari is a good man with good intentions. When I hear him, he vibrates genuine and concerned. The problem is, he was/ is too old too sick too ignorant to address the issues of a complex nation like Nigeria in the 21st century. He is manipulated by a few who hold and pull the strings.

I just skimmed through, I can't see our NOI mentioned anywhere. Instead, I saw Olusegun Aganga's - another good technocrat.

My argument is that NOI seemed to have served more of IMF's interest rather than Nigeria's interest. You are yet to convince me otherwise.

Kindly provide the name of the person appointed instead of NOI.

What conditions are you talking about?

You can do research you know? The conditions are exactly the same conditions they give 100+ countries on the globe. Most of those countries are making giant strides. If we can't do same, it's all our fault.

Yes, it has all to do with her policies in Nigeria because the US/West controls the IMF, and if she was completely in their pocket, she'd tilt the discussion about the EPA in the EU's favor with some fancy argument. In the world of economics, even s**t can be made to look like an apple.

There's not one link for that. There are several. Here's a good place to start https://www.ictsd.org/bridges-news/bridges-africa/news/nigeria-clarifies-reasons-for-not-endorsing-eu-ecowas-epa

At times, I wondered then in 2010, whether there was any element of truth in reports that many governors and leaders in President Jonathan's geopolitical region were not in support of his [bid for the] presidency. The answer now keeps getting clearer day by day.

Any idea where one can get that book? At least one of the person's talked about in the book just confirmed that the part on him is true.

He bargain for 100 dollar per barrel to achieve his gigantic plans,

There was a reason why Governors like Oshiomhole, Duke and many others hated Ngozi.
She advocated that money from Excess crude account be saved but Oshiomhole led many other Governors to keep hounding Ngozi to release the money, they kept threatening and applying pressures until their hands in the ECA and squandered the funds. The ECA fubd even helped ugly-looking Oshiomohole get himself a foreign half caste wife from Cape Verde who squandered nigerian's money on foreign trips.

Oshiomohole and Co must be blamed for the depletion of nigeria's financial resources not Ngozi Okonjo.

I'm not here to convince you. If I have to provide links for you on the widely publicized EPA EU-ECOWAS pact that all ECOWAS countries have signed except Nigeria, Gambia, and Mauritania, then you don't deserve the effort.

NOI was the Coordinating Minister of Economy. The EPA was discussed in FEC meetings, where all ministers are present and the FG came up with a response that they weren't going to give it their blessing. As the de-facto PM, she had the option to sell it directly to the President as a good deal if she was indeed a 100% IMF puppet. She had that direct line to GEJ, Aganga didn't. She had a direct line to Largarde (IMF MD), Aganga didn't.

Aganga responding to that is because of his portfolio--Minister for Industry, Trade, & Investments. NOI was higher-up the chain of command, Aganga was the spokesman/face of it. It's like YouWIN, she signed off on it; but she wasn't the face. She also signed off on the fertilizer subsidy revamp; but Adesina was the face of it. You'd know that if you read more, but you're waiting for me to spoon-feed you. Not gonna happen!

Saying "I should convince you," like how the f*ck is that my business.

This is where you are wrong.

President Olusegun obasanjo as President and National leader of the PDP set up a 12 man panel of the most politically neutral fellows alive- some of whom are Ex-generals - and gave them PDP membership forms. The purpose of this committee was to nominate a candidate that's credible for the PDP to present for presidency and gave them access to Security files from the EFCC, DSS and NSA.

The Committee came up with 2 names, Yaradua for President and Donald Duke for Vice-President.

Yaradua humbly accepted while Donald Duke vehemently refused. Why!?

His said he considered the committee/Obasanjo's actions as dictatorial in nature, since his name didnt come as a result of a democratic process and was convinced that to accept such automatically made him Obasanjo's designated puppet.

Also Duke eyes was set only for president alone and nothing else, hence he saw this committee's work as a blockade and actually tried to resist it - didnt work out, not when Obasanjo is the Head Nigga in Charge.

If he knew Yaradua wasnt going to make it, trust me Donald being the schemer that he is would have accepted the panel's offer. Those who know him well, know he regrets his refusal day and night.

It was after Duke Refused that Jonathan was invited and he accepted, with hot bone-face pressure from Obasanjo himself.

This was why Obasanjo was offended when Jonathan replied his open letter to him with boldness because as a Governor, after the exit of alameseigha, when men like Obasanjo dey talk, na ground Jonathan dey look.....

Jonathan was recommended by the committee on the basis of his conduct during his boss travail when he was still deputy governor, not once did he challenge Alameseigha, nor try to acquire political capital from Alameseigha's demise/corruption/political scandal.

Infact, the same way he withdrew himself during Yaradua dark days was the same way he did during Alameseigha's scandal.

Plus he still put a good performance as governor after Alameseigha's tenure, no blemish, no scandals...
