Interesting Youtube video on the entrepreneurial spirit of Nnewi: How Nnewi became the Nigerian town with largest millionaires per capita. This assertion is according to FORBES oh, b/4 people start wanting to argue with me! This is exactly why i'm proud to be Igbo. A people who succeeded through dint of hard work and perseverance, and not through dubious awards of oyel blocks, unmerited billion dollar gov't contract, or through using their being in power or having access to power to steal and buy up the entire city. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCrUVZI_gTI 5 Likes 1 Share |

Xander85:Bros, this is a well known fact we all know. Any resident of Anambra knows that Nnewi residents are the richest averagely and even Onitsha guys can't compare with them. We have the big size and wealth in Onitsha but give it to the Nnewi guys, they can trounce Onitsha guys one on one. Proudly Omambala. 1 Like |

I think where we need to improve on is our mode of running our businesses. The days of the likes of Okoro and sons Nig Ltd, or Ikenna Enterprises, where its all about one man running the show and being a sort of business emperor should give way to businesses that adhere strictly to the basic rudiments of corporate governance and accounting. This was what made Ekene Dilli Chukwu fade into oblivion once the Patriarch of the family Chief Ilodibe passed on. A coy that ordinarily should have grown to be a world-wide conglomerate like the likes of Ford, Disneyland and Coca-Cola. It should naturally have progressed into rail, air and sea transportation ...serving int'l destinations, but was stuck in gear one, and has now faded out of contention. Thankfully, Igwe Orizu and Dr Uzodike of Cutix cables are preaching the same gospel. 8 Likes 1 Share |

Xander85:Chairman you are not far from the truth, it's all boils down to education but credit should be given to them for creating something out of nothing. Such businesses you are talking about won't just happen because of who we are, everyone want to be over all chairman so that his village people will know when he was in town or not. Africa mentality. Only few people here in Nnewi practice partnership and succeeded others crash before a year in the business because of too many factors. Why is it very difficult for our people to create a brand just like the Americans and Europeans? 5 Likes |

How to build tall buildings in the south east with elevator and without constant electricity. 1) Install solar panels on the roof top 2) Install storage batteries for electricity produced by the panel 3) Dedicate all the power produced from the solar panels to run the elevator. This will enable the elevator to operate 24/7 with or without external electricity. 6 Likes 1 Share

On education, I must confess that the country and our region are getting it fantastically wrong in every way. You teach a child solar system in primary school and u go to integrated science, you teach him the same thing, then geography, he will learn solar system. The time taken to teach these kids this topic accumulates nothing less than one month (if the teachers are serious). Now let me tell you, many igbos are not going to space anytime soon and we will not act as if it is the next plan of our people. Why are we spending time teaching unnecessary subjects in levels where they should be more specific? In senior classes, kids are taught civic education, what's wrong with us for crying out loud? The senior classes should be practical oriented. We can spend the adolescent age of our kids to teach them real practical knowledge that will soon 7-9years and they will be the best of it. From age 13 - 21, if you want to create one of the best programmers, that's the age. One of the smartest business strategist, that's the age, one of the best engineers, that is the age. Convert all senior schools to technical, medical, business and scientific pre-universities. Let them learn the real world basics. Let them start using their minds well. Problem solving questions. Let them start conduit wiring and connections. Let's make anyone passing through our educational system be independent upon graduation. Not only these guys will move the economy forward but they can fit in anywhere in the world. Slowly but surely we will eradicate poverty from the land because education will kill it. 6 Likes |

Purehuman: There are so many industrial scale battery storage companies today. This is another business that will mint new millionaires in igboland if our people get into it. The picture I posted below are industrial scale batteries used for small town. You only need 1/20th of it to run an elevator constantly.

On education, we need more vocational school where technical skills are taught. My father never went to university. He went to vocational school and started his company fixing sophisticated machines. While his mates that spent years learning engineering in university couldn't find jobs. 1 Like |

achi4u: One route to go is to list your company on the stock exchange. That way you'd be forced to do things differently and even though you may hold controlling stock in the company, you still have to answer to a higher regulatory authority and your shareholders. I'd love INNOSON to list his company on the stock exchange. He can even use it to raise say an extra $100 million for expansion. It's high time he expands his factory at Nnewi and also spreads to other West African countries. Dangote took loans from many banks to build his refinery in Lagos as well as expand his cement business to other African countries, and part of the reason he can access finance (besides being close to the corridors of power) is that the lenders are satisfied with corporate governance in his conglomerate. Notice the way GTB and EFCC treated Dr Chukwuma when they claimed he reneged on the conditions for which the loan he borrowed was given? He was rough-handled and his dear wifey even got a slap for his efforts! Now if his company had been a PLC, listed on the Stock Exchange, then the bank and EFCC would not deal with him directly but would have to deal with INNOSON PLC as a corporate entity that can sue and be sued. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Sole proprietorship or one man business is been practiced by our people for over 40years. This style of business is gradually fading because bigger players are taking their customers. We need to stop acting like years ago and come together to build bigger corporation. For example, we can build the kind of resort seen in South Africa, Ethiopia and other countries that receives over 15,000 tourists per year. If our hotel builders can calm down and build a very big resort close to one lake or one natural endowment, we will just create a very good story behind such endowment plus additional facilities that can keep them busy for the whole they want to stay. It can honeymoon destination for couples and all. These big resorts generates billions of money in countries that manage them well. These businessmen can also come together to remodel Onitsha market to be the biggest and best retail destination in the world. People have not really looked into commerce like we can look into it. This is our major strength. We can build a big mall city consisting over 50malls and more than 5000 other outlets. This will have huge storage facilities for those industries without space. If these rich people come together and build such facilities and some people build parking lots and make money, the place can be getting nothing less than 50,000 inflow of people all over Africa. We need to synergize because we can make huge returns from this. These places just need good advertisement and facelift, we will get things done. 4 Likes |

Xander85: Publicly traded company of Igbo origin in a tribalistic country like Nigeria is not always a good idea. What we need is a privately held companies where stocks are held privately and open to those who want to see the company succeed. "A privately held company, private company, or close corporation is a business company owned either by non-governmental organizations or by a relatively small number of shareholders or company members which does not offer or trade its company stock (shares) to the general public on the stock market exchanges, but rather the company's stock is offered, owned and traded or exchanged privately." 3 Likes |

Yes, he has the money but if Dangote group can still source for money despite his weight then Innoson group need to upgrade. All this Keke Napepe been imported from India and China should be producing by the branch of Innoson factory. BUILDING A MALL CITY This is a new design I and my friends have thought about for the past few years. The igbos are a people with comparative advantage in some sectors in the Nigerian economy. With proper planning we can get a headquarter where all our strength can be seen from afar. Onitsha has been the biggest market in West Africa since 60's. With recent developments in science and technology and the increase in market size over the years, it has become imperative to redesign our market to be the next big thing like it was in the 60s but with a more modernized model. This model will: 1. increase the marketability of the products within its area, 2, improve the image of locally manufactured products. 3. Increase market size. 4. Improve tourism 5. Attract FDI within the region 6. Create businesses for programmers and ICT experts 7. Increase government revenue 8, make individuals richer and 9, create a better image for the igbo people. It was planned to be in Onitsha based on the fact that 1. Onitsha is the commercial capital of the east. 2. It's a border town in Anambra state. 3. It relates well with our anioma brothers. 4. It is easily assessable by anyone coming from the neighboring state or region. 5. It has a history of business. The design is to build big malls in a designated expanse of land. The malls are not going to be one or two but we are talking about 50malls. I know some of you must be crying about space but I assure you, space will be utilized and managed well. Each mall will have close to 500 shops each and they will offer products of similar kinds. For example, we can have a mall of electronics. This mall will house computers, phones, TV, decoders, etc. This will enable us to get data about customers buying from the malls and their interests. It will be easier for us to know the products that are having falling patronage per time and find ways to solve them. The mall city will be designed to cater for every need. You can get everything in this mall city. If you say you want to buy anything and it's not sold anywhere in Nigeria, Onitsha Mall City will have it. It will designed that online retail stores will use these shops as their suppliers. It will house a sound transport system that will transport goods bought to the most convenient spot the customer will need it. This mall city will be designed to open for 18hours in 24. This will help in night trading because the lighting system will be the best. There will be no night. Anytime you come to mall city, you have a customer and a buyer at all times. There will be sound movement direction system that will make customers not lose their way in the city. The roads will be well tarred. Will continue later. 3 Likes |

achi4u: Innoson needs to act fast or the Nigerian system will swallow his business. horsepower101: Yes that is why mechanical engineering should be divided into fluid engineering, automotive engineering, design engineering and other things. Why? It doesn't make sense learning things you don't enough knowledge to practice. With SS1 - 3 spent on learning to understand, fix and manufacture simple things, these kids will know the exact direction they will be moving before they get to the university. As at SS3, student should be plumbers, electrician and other experts before they get better knowledge in the university. If we have a highly skilled youthful population, then we don't have problems. 3 Likes |
