I have had a couple of smart phones and the conclusion is that one major issue with smart phones is the ease with which their screens break. Perhaps to build consumer confidence, there are some phones posting DROP TESTS.

Can you recommend any phone that will pass any drop test, a smart phone whose screen and touch-screen will not break so easily when dropped?

Which android/i-phone has the best drop-test success?

And what is the price?

Every phone with glass display will break when dropped. It even gets worse if it has glass front and back. Forget all these gorilla glass thing, they are there to offer scratch resistance and not shatterproof. So it's better to always wear a case on ur phone if u are the type that always drop ur phone.

If u really want a shatterproof phone then get a phone with screen made of plastic and not gorilla glass. There's a reason Samsung used plastic for the display of the Galaxy s7 active instead of gorilla glass 4 used in the regular s7 edge. Also Motorola z2 force has a plastic screen and it is shatterproof.

That I don't know. The s7 active is a little more expensive than the regular s7. The downside of plastic display is it can easily be scratched by keys, coins or even fingernails unlike phones with glass that are mostly resistant to scratches. But adding a tampered glass screen protector will solve the issue.

However, some phones with glass display still have some levels of ruggedity. For example the LG v10 and v20 are very rugged. In fact they both have military certified level of ruggedity, they are MIL-STD-810G certified and will survive drop test more than many gorilla glass 5 screen phones.

@OP try the Motorolla Droid Turbo 2 (Moto X force) or Motorolla z2 force. Both come with shatterproof screens because the screens are made of several layers of plastic which can not break however they are susceptible to scratches. All you need to do is get a good glass screen protector on it and your screen is virtually impervious.

Also note that the Moto Xforce is the international version of the droid turbo 2 which is a verizon branded phone (Its not locked though). The snapdragon on the droid turbo 2/x force overheats when playing extremely demanding games for very long periods (injustice 2 mobile) but apart from that its all good.

Fragile you say? I typed Samsung S9 and not Leagoo S9.
For the xperia, it's been announced. It'll be protected by the corning gorilla glass 5...(and it'll be the first phone with UHD+ display)

And gorilla glass 5 is shatterproof? Lol. Be deceiving urself. There's no much difference between gorilla glass 3, 4 and 5.. it's just the thickness that differ. They protect the phone from scratches and about 1 meter of drop. Corning claims the screen will survive 80% of the times when dropped on rough surface at 1.6 meters height but in reality we know it will only service about 50% of the times. And when u have glass front and back it even makes it more fragile.

Sorry, guys, I have been in transit through the weekend. I am just viewing your analysis. But please, what is the cost implication of these options? Na money matter nau!
