So poverty and unemployment increased in 2017 and this administration feels that banning cough syrup with codeine is the solution to drug abuse.

Then some people in the North blame the igbos for drug abuse by northern youths. The question is, why are they doing more drugs under buhari than jonathan?

The truth is that the northern youths don't want to see the result of their choice in 2015. They need something to make it seem like they are dreaming. They want something to suppress the feeling of guilt, regret and frustration. That is the reason they have taken to drugs.

You can't have rising unemployment, poverty, and a hopeless government and expect youths to stay away from drugs.

There are no jobs, poverty is increasing and the government they look up to, keeps insulting and embarrassing them.

I hope they can open their eyes to better choice in 2019, else only God know what they will smoke.

I got to know of the abuse of codeine by undergraduates in Lagos in 2013. Perhaps that was Buhari's fault .

I'm not a fan of Buhari, but let's be very objective. People have been abusing drugs even before Buhari was born so blaming his inefficiency as the cause of drug abuse sounds absurd undecided

Yes Buhari is also responsible for increasing infertility in many young men and women. He is the reason many young ladies can't find husband and the reason some wives now stab their husbands in bed. The rate Nigerians tell lies also increased since he was elected

Same here. I got to know about unemployment and poverty in Nigeria since I was born. Is the statistics the same under buhari?

Drug addiction is a choice.

In more developed societies where employment and recreational activities abound there is still a higher per capita number of drug addicts.

What's the explanation for that?

It could be over excitement, because there are good roads, employment and healthcare.

Here it's frustration, depression, unemployment etc. So it's the extreme opposite situation.

And they don't go for cough syrup or suck away as it is done up north.

It's just like saying cars also spoil in America, so we can't blame bad roads for cars that spoil in Nigeria.

Yes Buhari is to blame for the rains last weekend that ruined our open air party, he should have known it would rain and take steps to stop it from raining.

Wonder what he was looking at in 2014 that he couldn't stop oil I price from crashing from$120 to $75, he's too incompetent

Benylin™ with codeine used to be N300 before people started abusing it. It came up to N1200-1500 per bottle in the early moments of abuse, and after a while you would not be able to buy a cough syrup from your regular pharmacy. I wonder how much it started selling for before this ban.

Such a shame. Drug abuse is nonsense.
