Black Panther 7/10. The storyline is not that great, but the costumes, graphics and its black culture representation are nice.

A couple of things.
1. Do we need to set a time range for new movies before we start discussing spoilers or a thread for movie spoilers should be created separately just for that?
2. I know opinions can be divisive but GODDAMN the way some people rate some movies is... SIMPLY AMAZING. You can't rate a movie bad because it bores you. There are more tangible criteria e.g the acting, storyline, twists (if any) e.t.c.
Any hoo your opinion is yours.
I think a separate thread should be created to discuss spoilers

I'm about to start watching Black Panther, even though BlackManta Don spoil am finish angry angry

I'm halfway through Black Panther ( laptop battery died). Nice movie, but not all its hyped to be. I found those really fake accents annoying. We have real African actors like Djimon Honsou, Akinnuoye Agbaje and Chiwetel Ejiofor with genuine accents who should have been given roles, but who do I see there?? Americans with their godawful fake accents.

Mscheeeeew. Let me finish the movie before I rate them.

BlackManta:
Black Panther 5/10.

So i had the chance to see Black Panther again.

The first time i saw the movie at the cinema i rated it 6/10.
Today i have reduced it to 5/10.

Black Panther is so overated and it didn't live up to the crazy hype.
Marvel fanboys might come for my head.
But the truth is even after seeing the movie nearly 3 times, i still cant get myself to like it.
Alright you sad, depressed DC hater, you've got my attention.
First, why can't you people understand that the hype was never about how awesome a movie it was, but the racial significance to African-Americans in Hollywood. And quit lying. You didn't even watch it twice, talk more of thrice.
I can point out several flaws in that movie but let's start with the good part shall wehuh

The good thing about Black Panther is the way African cultural elements was potrayed.
The movie is based in Africa so i was expecting it and Marvel didn't dissapoint.
They put up a good effort in expressing the aesthetic authencity of African elements in this movie.

Another thing i liked about Black Panther was Andy Serkis (Ulysses Klaue) and Michael B Jordan (Killmonger)
Andy's acting was superb. He was the only one who seemed like he wasn't reading from a script and he got genuine laughs out of me.

Michael's acting was a close second.
He brought Killmonger to life unlike Boseman whoose character was very dull and boring.
What i didn't like in BLACK PANTHER

Now lets get down to the bad aspects of this overhyped movie.

1. Predictable and Poor storyline:

The story was extremely predictable and to be honest I don't know if the most virtuous resolution was reached in the climax. Michael B Jordan's character had fairly reasonable intentions for wanting to kill the Black Panther and take his place in Wakanda as he had been abandoned, with seemingly no family, to live in the ghettos of Oakland. However, his whole plan to give advanced Wakandan weaponry to every African person in the world so they could kill and overthrow people in power who weren't African was extremely "on-the-chin" in terms of its narrative motivations within the current climate. It wasn't remotely clever or nuanced and really unbalanced his character, his motivations were understandable but his plan was moronic. Additionally, who didn't see Black Panther surviving his fall? Who didn't see the Gorilla tribe coming to the rescue at the end? The entire movie was so bland and predictable I wanted it to be over well before the end.
Dude, it's 2018. Movies have been around for more than a century. We're actually in the age of remakes and reboots because filmmakers are running outta ideas. So if you've been watching movies for the past 10 years, then yeah, you should be able to predict some stuff that happened in the movie. You would be an idiot if you couldn't. Of course we knew T'Challa would survive his fall. He's the protagonist and there's still close to an hour of runtime left. I mean, most of us know a lot of The Avengers would be back in infinity War 2. Does that make Infinity War a predictable movie? I not only knew he'd survive his fall. I knew he'd be rescued by the Jabari as well.
Did you know W'Kabi would turn against him? Did you know the border tribe would fight for Killimonger? Did you know Killimonger would break Klaue out only to kill him? Did you predict the end of the movie from the beginning? If you didn't, then don't call the whole story predictable. Besides, unless you're a newbie to movies, there's very few plots that will surprise and/or amaze you these days, so that's not even a negative.
2. LACK OF CHARACTER VALUE

I didn't fall in love with any major character except Ulysses and Killmonger.
Most part of the movie focused on T'challa but in the end i found his character very boring and dull.

Forest Whitaker's character was shallow. I barely knew him. So i didn't give a Bleep when he died.

In this movie they spend maybe 30 seconds building up the characters, if even that. They just assume that we will have feelings to any character who pops up in the movie - BUT WE DON'T.
If anyone fights, almost dies and in the end dies anyways we just do not care since we do not get to know the person. Forrest Whitaker acts is but off yet you do not care if he dies... WHO is he, tell us something about him before please (!).
Speak for yourself. If you weren't too busy looking for reasons to hate the movie, you would have fallen in love with the beauty that is Okoye. Wise, cool, badass, loyal with some dry humor and a bit of sass. Nakia was interesting. And M'Baku was entertaining with the little screentime he got.
T'Challa is royalty. Born and raised at his father's side. You expect him to be Tony Stark? He's a king with the weight of a kingdom on his shoulders. And he bears it well. His humor was spot on when he showed it. And it humanized his character.
Zuri's death wasn't meant to be felt by us. It was for T'Challa. He lost all battle calmness when it happened, enabling Killimonger to finish him off easily. Oh! And Zuri is the spy that was planted on Killimonger's father at the beginning. He's also the kingmaker and obviously a close family friend to T'Challa's family. But you were probably waiting for a narrator to tell you all that.
3. POOR ACTING

The acting was very wooden - Not a lot to say here really, some really poor line delivery from the cast across the board except for Andy Serkis and Michael B Jordan. No one was particularly charismatic, the main character for instance was extremely boring.
You probably can't touch Andy Serkis and Michael B. Jordan because both professional and user reviews praise their performances. But if you bothered to check, you would have also discovered that Danai Gurirai (Okoye), Lupita N'Yongo, Daniel Kaluuya and Angela Bassett's performances were also applauded. And any unbiased viewer would agree with that.
4. POOR SCRIPT

The script was very robotic - This ties into the poor acting, but perhaps as a result of the script, some of the actors never really had a chance to bring their characters to life.
I'm just going to shake my head at this and move on.
5. T'CHALA

Basically throughout the entire movie you never really learn anything or see anything of the Black Panther's character, he basically moves from one place to another showing no emotion and just either smashes things or asks people questions. Apparently the character is supposed to be very intelligent, while it was probably a narrative choice, the Black Panther in this movie seemed like an emotionless Jarhead whose only really characteristic was that he get nervous around his girlfriend..
T'Challa was conflicted about keeping to the age long system or sharing their existence and technology with the outside world. He had aspirations to be a great ruler. Yet he wished to keep his father's mistakes a secret. A flaw. And yeah, he had feelings for Nakia. Probably not the most awesome character but definitely not an emotionless jarhead.
6. POOR ACTION SEQUENCE

Apart from the impressive car chase and the challenge stuff, every other fight scene in this movie was average and lacklustre.
the action in the movie is terrible and not remotely on the level of the well-choreographed fighting in say Captain America Winter Soldier - please for the love of god show someone getting punched or kicked without having to cut the shot 5 times.
Yeah, the final battle was definitely terrible. Everything about it was horrible. The entertaining Dora Milaje Vs Killimonger fight, Black Panther Vs Killimonger and the rhino stampede. They were definitely the most horrible action sequences ever shown on screen. I'm sure even you could come up with something better.
7. POOR CGI

The CGI in this movie is terrible.
Did any one notice the Rhinoshuh
Very poor CGI.
the CGI was awful in the action scenes: whenever someone was even prodded, they would go flying across the screen in the most outlandish fashion.
the CGI on Black Panther felt extremely overused and was surprisingly quite bad.

8. SOUNDTRACK

The impressive Kendrick Lamar curated soundtracks barely feature in this movie.
The orchestral score is also quite average, coming in strong at weird moments and being quite out of place in certain places.

BLACK PANTHER 5/10
Dude, if you're going to hate on a movie, my advice would be not to watch it. Use the time and do something productive instead of torturing yourself by trying to hate a decent cinematic production. And then coming online to troll its fans. Your life can't be that sad and empty

Personally, I won't say Black Panther is overhyped because the actual hype is not about the great storyline of the movie, or because it's the best movie ever, the hype comes from its cultural significance, and what it means for the black people, having their own superhero, with our own African identity and roots clearly depicted in the movie. I still think the names you listed would have been better actors than the ones used who are just blacks but lack that African touch the likes of Chiwetel has.

Regardless of how long a movie has been released, don't come and spoil it for people. 3 month is not a long enough time to come posting movie spoiling reviews. You are not the only one who has watched Black Panther, but you are the only one who has come to render the movie tasteless for many of us. Show some consideration for people who have not watched it otherwise you will drive a lot of people away from this thread.
