According to figures released Thursday by market researcher Strategy Analytics iPhone X top the list of world best selling smartphones. iPhone X was the best-selling smartphone in the world during the first quarter of 2018 with Apple shipping 16 million units during the first three months of the year. This is closely followed by another Apple smartphone the iPhone 8 which sold 12.5 million units.

Apple also claimed the third and fourth spot with the iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone 7 which sold 8.3 million units and 5.6 million units respectively. The fifth spot is a shocker to many the Xiaomi Redmi 5A record the sales of 5.4 million units in Q1 2018. The figure makes it the fifth best selling smartphone in the world.

Point of correction. Samsung s9 & s9+ were released on the 8th of march and not late March.

Come second quarter the result will not be different. Till date, Samsung has not sold 1 million copies of those phones.

1% is a mere rounding error for the first place position with 16 million sales, while the next competiting number is 5.4millions.

Meaning, if you deduct African sales from the numbers, nothing will change.
