Moneywomen17:Well good u know Oyo was conquered and ruled 100yrs by foreign invaders. 100yrs is a very long time. Throughout Benin history from when it started as a small city state and throughout its existence nobody, no tribe could defeat it in battle or rule it. Even when the British defeated us they only ruled for about 50yrs till when an Edo man started the fight for independence. |

gregyboy:Well Benin was an Empire. Every genuine Empire took names, cultures, cuisine and more from its colonies. Yoruba people are still many within the two Ovia local government areas of Edo State like Usen, Utese, Egbeta, Olumoye, Iguogho and others. Diferent people from Igbo & Yoruba fringes of the empire brought their talents and skillS to Benin. It was the Lagos of those days. The place to go make a name as ARTISAN, DRUMMER, SOLDIER, ETC. nO CONTROVERSY THERE. Roman empire adopted gods like Diana and Zeus from their Greek colony. Britain adopted a word like Bungalow from India. Patel is one of the most common surnames in UK today, a name from India/Pakistan. |

davidnazee:rule was the wrong word to use and I will modify my comment. Like obalufon said oyo suffered military defeat at the hands of nupe and move away from the capital Katunga for less than a century not 100 years it was less than 73 years coz it happened in 1535 and by the late 1500 to early 1600 when oyo claimed the land back massacre the nupe and chased the nupe of their own land and push them up north it’s hardly anything to be ashamed of coz oyo won and expanded to the detriment of nupe at the end of the day. The British did not leave Nigeria coz Nigeria could fight it they left coz of pressure from the international communities same with France and other colony |

Benin people are not our allies oh. This thread was an eye opener for me. So much hate and arrogance from the people of Benin. You can't show respect and love for one who does not reciprocate it. My Yoruba people, be wise. |
| Re: Oba Of Benin Visits Ooni Of Ife by Moneywomen17(m): 9:02pm On May 09, 2018 |
gregyboy:another dumbass lol. Of course the Igbo will agree with u if a clothe is white for real and Yoruba agree it’s white ibo will say it’s black. With that said this is the owa-obokun of ijesha with a circular bead. Ilesha has no relationship with Benin before u start saying another nonsense. As u can see in the first pix even Ooni the Ooni with the owa-obokun and second pix he was wearing circular bead too. None of it has to do with Benin. Beads are rooted deep into Africans not only Benin get educated about that fact. And oduduwa didn’t die in a jungle he died in ife. It’s ur lost prince elkhadaren who I said probably died in the jungle. Elkhadaren and oduduwa are 2 different people.

Moneywomen17:Even everyone can see its recently adopted by him some me a pics of 17c or early 18c at most and i will show u benin of the 14c wearing rounded beed i dont know the state ijesha is but i believe if i trace the monarchy linage it would those vasile state under the benin b4 d advent of d British if it fall under this five state forget it ...it was from benin eko, ekiti, osun, ogun, ondo those state was under the Benin's It can easily be see d beeds don't even match with the rest beeds on his necks yorubas were never known for rounded beeds it was probably a gift from benin Wait youngman is it ijesha ediaken story ...the duke chief who was sent to war in benin to bring d ijesha king head to the palace after the war the ijesha king who refuse to pay tribute was killed by ediaken and his head was brought to d palace and the ijrsha king was replace by a benin duke who later ruled ijesha land .....this still one reason our prince remains an ediaken before a crown prince....so yoruba boy u aint even aware of this history an you want to argue with me an historian by field you must be joking ....go on net and read the story of ediaken the uselu duke |

gregyboy:Trash. Benin ruled osun ekiti osun Ogun ondo eko for where ur dream. This are the only things u can see nairaland coz nairaland condones foolishness. The kriji war was a war fought by Yoruba tribe not to be under oyo anymore or under the new growing power Ibadan and it was fought by everyone in the state u just mentioned with no Benin there. Ekiti parapo comes to mind better stop lying and embarrassing urself here |
| Re: Oba Of Benin Visits Ooni Of Ife by Moneywomen17(m): 9:15pm On May 09, 2018 |

| Re: Oba Of Benin Visits Ooni Of Ife by davidnazee: 9:27pm On May 09, 2018 |
Moneywomen17:Moneywoman please stop this self deciet. You already know Benin was in control of those youruba states up till Benin was defeated by the British. Your kriji Wars was fought with help from Benin. And it was actually Benin defending its territory from Ibadan. You know this already, why denying it again. |
| Re: Oba Of Benin Visits Ooni Of Ife by Moneywomen17(m): 9:30pm On May 09, 2018 |
davidnazee:my guy u are back again with the lie. Will u finally name one Benin warrior in the kriji war or run again by deflecting hmm. |
| Re: Oba Of Benin Visits Ooni Of Ife by Moneywomen17(m): 9:43pm On May 09, 2018 |
For ignorant Benin liars this are the Yoruba tribe that make up Ogun ijebu, egba and Yewa and little awori. Nobody ever conquered ijebu not even other Yoruba till the British conquer them(Anglo-ijebu war) as reference. The egba were under oyo till they declare freedom during the fall of oyo and they too sign over their town to the British not Oyo. The Yewa-awori were also under the oyo till it’s collapse too that’s that for Ogun. Now to osun ife was never conquered by anybody. Ilesha was under oyo too till they revolted in the kriji war same with igbomina too that’s also that for osun. In eko according to the awori they invited a Benin man to rule them but the Benin many dynasty ended with the birth of ologun kuture to an ijesha man and the treaty of Lagos was sign by Yoruba of Lagos by their Yoruba king so that’s that for eko. Now ekiti apart from the Ogoga of ikere who claim his ancestor is Benin and even that none of the other ekiti town were under anyone they prefer to remain autonomous that’s why they resisted Ibadan plan to conquer them big time (fabunmi oke Mesi) fight for ekiti as refrence. so ekiti is done. Now to ondo even owo that’s close to Benin was not conquered by Benin so like I said no Yoruba state was under Benin. |
| Re: Oba Of Benin Visits Ooni Of Ife by Moneywomen17(m): 9:46pm On May 09, 2018 |
davidnazee:davidnaze come back don’t run like a coward again since yesterday I have challenged u to just name one Benin warrior who were apparently fighting in this kriji war that Benin was involved in. We know of ekiti parapo people like ogedengbe and fabunmi and co. Even ilorin that collide with Fulani u know the name of the Fulani they collide with so name one Benin man to prove ur point |

This is an important link on this issue. Read through and take note of how original Edo names were being corrupted to sound Yoruba. That was the same way Izoduwa was corrupted to oduduwa and the Yoruba have continued to spin and build castles of lies around that entity for ages. Important read. http://ikerekingdompalace.com/history-of-ikire-ekiti/ |

Moneywomen17:Moneywomen, why don;t you go research if Benin conquered and ruled Eastern Yoruba states or if Benin armies fought in the kriji war. Since you can post on nairaland I assume you can also do some research on the matter instead of just shouting on here. Or are you scared to research and find out I have been telling you the truth? anyways below is some piece I found when researching those topics. Some of them was done by intelligent Yoruba scholars. "‘No part of Ekiti was spared the agony of imperialist invasions…The rampaging Benin armies sacked Ogotun, Aramoko, some subordinate communities of Ijero, Ado communities such as Are, Afao, Ugbo (now Ilu) Omoba and Agbado and settled a large percentage of the haul of captives therefrom in Ikere, their garrison post. It is obvious from various studies that the Yoruba internecine wars between 18th and 19th centuries did not help but heightened diplomacy with foreign powerful states by weaker neighbouring states. For instance, Benin armies constantly waged wars of external aggressions on Ekitiland and other communities in different parts of old Ondo State in their quest for territorial expansion and control, among others. A good reference point is the Ado-Ikere relations that resulted to Benin pillage and attacks on Ado-Ekiti on several occasion. Olomola (1984:2-3) noted that Benin armies invaded parts of Ado kingdom a few times between 1500 and 1815, though its military prowess spared Ado-Ekiti the rigours of devastation due to evidence of its kinship with Ado-Ekiti. Benin was only interested in clipping Ado’s wings by either sacking Ado communities or causing a dispersal or dislocation and forced evacuation and migration of human settlements from Ado-Ekiti to other locations. Olomola further asserted that the Ewi actually devise a strategy of evacuating his capital city so that the Benin armies would not disturb the Ewi and the rest of his people in their new site. Whatever has persistently made Benin to assail Ado-Ekiti, it was evident that the human settlement was frequently unsettled or dislocated by wars and invasion. Olomola (1984:10) noted further that Ado-Ekiti landscape was turbulent and often disorganized or reinvented when he asserted thus: ‘"Ado suffered military reverses and lost considerable number of its people during the Benin and Ibadan invasions …For instance, Odo which was, before the Benin invasion a town of considerable size, broke up as the people sought the safety of rocky and forest recesses and Uyin and Igede lost part of their population in their fight against Benin in 1815 and Ibadan in 1873. Above all, Ado communities were denuded of their population and those the Benin carried away were placed in Ikere subsequent upon which its population swelled up. Ibadan armies made a huge haul of captives, running to several thousands – of Ado men, women and chief…Ado (was) more than compensated for its human loses in its wars especially in parts of Owo and Akoko from where Ado made huge hauls of captives."’ so you see moneywomen; Benin Kingdom was in control of many Yoruba states. |
| Re: Oba Of Benin Visits Ooni Of Ife by davidnazee: 1:06am On May 10, 2018 |
Moneywomen17:Another piece copied from the research work of a Yoruba Scholar: "Every town or village under him (Ewi) except Ijan were prepared to fight…The Benin soldiers stormed Igbara-Odo and Ilawe and took them. At this time, Ado town had been vacated. Aroloye took the people to a place called Oke Oko Axis between Ifaki and Iworoko. Most of the gods Ado worshipped on that side: Olua at Eyio, Obanifon at Esure and Are, Ogbese and Orisala at Iworoko. The soldiers pitched their camps near Uyin (Iyin)…Ogbesi Okun, the then Oluyin …was conquered and killed. They proceeded to Igede, Awo and Esure and took them. The inhabitants of Igede then uder Okiribiti were driven in a north-easternly direction to a place called Oke Asha…Edo troops then marched to Iworoko…The soldiers entered Are…The same fate befell Afao. They were all taken to Ikere. The soldiers moved to Igbemo …entered Igbo-Omoba (now Ilu-Omoba)…The soldiers left Aisegba for Agbado and without delay took it and evacuated the people. Agbado was the last place under the Ewi. With the conquest, of Agbado, the soldiers seemed to have finished their job… ‘Ewi Idagunmodo (1696-1710), Ewi Okinbaloye Aritawekun (1710-1722), Ewi Amono Ola (1722-1762), Ewi Afunbiowo (1762-1781), Ewi Akulojuorun (1781-1808), Ewi Aroloye (1808-1836) who reigned at Ado but were attacked successively by Benin hordes…‘During the reign of Ewi Aroloye, Ado-Ewi’s kingdom witnessed massive dislocation across the terrain as town dwellers and villagers ran for safety in different directions. Many of the captives from Iworoko, Are, Afao, Ugboomoba (now Ilumoba) and Agbado were taken to Ukere by Benin invaders …the rapid expansion of Ado brought it into conflict with Benin, another power with imperialistic designs in Ekiti. Responding to the invitation by Ado’s neighbouring states who had become unduly alarmed by the consolidation and excesses of the Ewi’s power, Benin army invaded and subjugated Ado in addition to overrunning most of the other Ekiti states some of whose ruling dynasties, as in Ikere, were replaced…’’"’ |

davidnazee:lol davidnaze are u as dumb as I think or what u just wrote something down with no source whatsoever on who said it. With that said what u wrote down can’t u read it coz it only says ado and some other ekiti towns suffer military defeat at the hands of Benin and also Ibadan. So how does military defeats among to control or conquer. Weren’t u the one who claim that they were under Benin in the parapo war and they were only fighting with Benin loyalist but here u are again contradicting yourself. Ur source without post also says ado raided owo and Akure does that mean there were under ado too. U post this things but u don’t read it or maybe u do but understand it. I have done my research about kriji war and I found no Benin warrior that’s why i keep asking for ur own research that u did that shows Benin warrior so show me ur own research for once or forever remain a liar who can’t back his ludicrous claims. Ps u do not wage war on people u already control and the Benin still fighting ado in 1815 alludes to the fact they were not under them |
| Re: Oba Of Benin Visits Ooni Of Ife by Moneywomen17(m): 1:17am On May 10, 2018 |
davidnazee:who are this scholars and where are u getting this from lol. Ur first post says ikere told Benin to defend them from ado cuz they had gud relationship but this ur second post says ikere monarch were replaced my question is by who. And ur write up is pure conjecture of ur imagination if not provide the source coz no scholar will say “overrun some Ekiti States” instead of ekiti towns |
