He is definitely one of those boys forming cultists. Had the lecturer left him alone at that point, his action would have smeared the lecturer's ego, balls and most importantly, yang.

For those who do not know, yang (in Chinese philosophy) is the active male principle of the universe, characterized as male and creative and associated with heaven, heat, and light.

The opposite is yin, which is the passive female principle of the universe, characterized as female and sustaining and associated with earth, dark, and cold.

This would have been a sign of weakness on the part of the lecturer and will encourage further disrespect from the student and other students.

The lecturer definitely needed to protect his yang from being yinned.

As much as I condone such behavior from lecturers, I support this.

But to be sincere, I do not see the lecturer flogging the said student.
