Today, I want to put out my thoughts on the above subject. So much is been said on daily basis about dogs and bones. Inadvertently talking about, Patience and satisfaction to those that understand and those that don't. It is an agreeable fact that patience is a virtue. It is a virtue that has been looked down on by many people. But I won't go into telling you how and for what reasons it seems to be so but my discuss is coming on the heels of my personal disagreement to the always stated 'fact' that patient dog eats the fattest bone.

Of a truth it is! But on a second thought from my wondering mind, I think is is wickedness to settle for patience in the sight of abundance. Why would you allow your dog wallow in emptiness of the stomach just to wait for you to finish the flesh, the yummy side of the meat? Has the dogs announced that they are patiently waiting for only bones? I think no! They only pick bones which have been thrown away as waste but they never want to take bones in the sight of fleshy food.

In life, people have also been made to think that way - waiting patiently for the last meal instead of reaching forth to 'grab' something for themselves. This set of people have had their thinking faculties washed with bleach and so many detergent that they aught not to press harder to get what they need instead they should wait for 'all to come to pass' and the gathered bones would be accrued to them.

I disagree and wants to state that, everyone deserves a flesh and maybe bones, but once in a while. In the holy write, it states that, "The kingdom of heaven suffers violence and the violent takes it by force". Never by patience but by striving.

Am only trying to buttress the facts that,

1. Patience as a virtue is not a guaranty for a having enough in terms of accumulations. It is a virtue that should guide you that you can get whatever you want with time but never in the face of abundance.

2. You should never tell people that they should wait in patience for your bones instead of either giving them a taste of it, you may never be better than The Rich man in the holy writ that feeds his subject with the crumbs that fell off from his table.

3. You should not agree with people that wants you to wait in 'suffering'. They never meant well for you. By the time you exhaust your energy in waiting for that time, whenever the "good" may happen, you may never have the strength to chew the bones.

4. Try as much as life is in you to strive for success, never settle for less. Whenever opportunities come your way, never say never. Your achievement may come in a thorn coated juice because most times, it may never come in a bone coated flesh.

Happy Soaring!

Patience is not for only ppl who don't have in abundance, did you ever pounder on why some ppl who were once stinkingly rich became poor in a matter of years? Want to guess the answer?

Maybe there are people with this mindset, you are definitely one of them...or was, or whatever...

You maybe right about this, but life isn't fair, you have to earn your keep!

This opinion is totally short sited, patience has her legs spread everywhere. Pun intended cool

Do you know the origin of this adage? It is sad to see a lot of contradictions ond unbeffiting statements being uploaded on this forum.
I will enlighten and educate you as to where it originates from:In the past, when butchers go to their stalls to kill livestock and cut up meat,a pack of dogs follow them so as to eat the bones during the butchering process, while the butchers were at work, some dogs will pick up the small bones that were on the floor during the first part of the butchering process and they will take the bones away to eat them, but to the surprise of the butchers, some dogs never moved a muscle and stood still like statues and during the last part of the butshering process where the enormous bones were cut out, those dogs moved to pick it and went away with the largest bones, this gave the butchers the inspiration to form the adage 'the patient dog eats the fattest bone'.
I agree with you on the fact that patience does not correlate with laziness, being patient as you move from industries to companies as you search for a job is not the same as sleeping in your bed all day expecting money and seeing a vacancy and applying early does not correlate with waiting for days before applying.
I hope you can learn from this didactic piece.Thank you.

I think I never made assertions that the adage is wrong in its entirety. Just that some persons have been holding on to it literally justifying their unwarranted 'wait' in the presence of abundance.
Thanks for your thoughts.

No problem,I understand you and know that some people confuse stupidity, idiocity, ignorance, laziness and mediocrity with patience but they are ignorant of the fact that patience is a virtue cultivated and characterised by endurance, wisdom, knowledge, understanding and hardwork
