Please Advice, How Should I Handle This? by obaf(op): 9:08pm On May 10, 2018
I will like you to advice me on this!
Robbers came to my house on December 5, 2017 and took 4 customers laptops from my house including mine. I was just recovering from it , am a public servant, IT personal.
Last week Friday, I went to buy laptop for myself, Went to computer village , i have made enquiries about the laptop I wanted and the sales boy I met on ground took the laptop for some installations in another shop near and I was all alone in their shop, one boy (a teenager)came in and said he want to sell his old Lenovo , and i spoke with the guy, checked out the laptop, it's used and dirty but something I can clean up and use, keyboard not functioning, so I asked him how much is he selling, he said 20k, priced for 15k, some other guys came in, we excused ourselves outside, asked for his job and why he's selling, he said he's a student and lost his phone that he can't have almost dead ideapad laptop and no phone. Asked for his ID card, he said he doesn't have, asked his phone number he said it's with d stolen phone, that he just want to go and buy phone. So I took his picture, gave him my other phone number to call me so I can have his number. It was almost raining so we quickly parted ways that he will call me to have his phone number, the rain was heavy and lasted more than 30/60mins, I didn't see him or hear from him. Immediately after the rain, went combing all the street but didn't see him. But I've been uncomfortable holding the laptop. It could be a stolen one and this boy has my number with him. My mind is not settled. I eventually got my own laptop, because that one was more of a scrap, although I've cleaned it up now a bit.
Pls what can I do? I don't want to have any police case/issue in case this boy turned out to be a thief? This was an unnecessary buy! What do you advice I do?

Next time don't buy items from random people. Just chill nothing will happen.but don't disclose your identity to anyone that you don't know while on phone. Just be careful on your phone calls

You made a very big mistake by giving him your number you would have snapped him and write a little note like an undertaking for him to sign and get he's pic to attach to it... That will be your evidence to an extend.. Just pray its not stolen or the boy misplace your number... If the boy is a thief. Its a big trouble....
