(iii) Adjudged to be a lunatic or declared to be of unsound mind;

(iv) (a) is under a sentence of death; or

(b) is under a sentence of imprisonment or fine for an offence involving dishonesty

or fraud;

(v) has in the last 10 years been convicted and sentenced for an offence

involving dishonesty;

(vi) has been found guilty of a contravention of the code of conduct;

(vii) is an undischarged bankrupt;

(viii) is employed in the public service and does not resign, withdraw or retire at least

30 days to the election;

(ix) is a member of a secret society;

(x) has been indicted for embezzlement or fraud by a judicial committee of inquiry or

an Administrative Panel of Inquiry or a Tribunal AND which indictment has

been accepted by the Federal or State Government;

(xi) has presented a forged certificate to the Independent National

1.GEJ did not ask his ministers to resign. They did so cause rules were brought out by PDP before the elections to force them out. The media reported it thus

"Last week, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) released guidelines for its primaries ahead of the 2015 general elections. The guidelines require serving public office holders to quit by October 20 if they want to seek the ruling party’s nomination in the primaries scheduled to hold in November and December. This affects appointees like ministers and commissioners, as well as civil servants."

So their resignations had nothing to do with a president whose regime has been found to have promoted the worst corruption this country has ever had.

2. In the primaries that followed 5 of them lost leaving only Wike and Darius Ishaku of Taraba. However, it also emerged that though they resigned they were supported with money and logistics from Aso Rock. These created more problems for them such that heir opponents saw the contest as between them and Aso Rock. Their loses led to wild jubilations which was reported in Sahara Reporters as follows:

"Five out of the seven ministers who resigned from the President Goodluck Jonathan ‎cabinet to contest in the just concluded primary elections under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) have been defeated, an indication that federal might is not always enough for grassroots politics."
