$58.7b is the total debt profile of Nigeria and the foreign reserve is $47b. Instead of their making noise about growing the external reserve, the govt should be honest enough to tell us that what they borrow is bigger than the foreign reserve. |

What an idiotic thread? . The OP types his own figures into a spreadsheet, plots a graph and posts it online. What's left is for half educated, provincial youths to swallow it hook line sinker. No country lies about it's foreign reserves. It only happens if you are an inferiorit Complex afflicted, troubled youth from Eastern Nigeria. Everybody is tracking foreign reserves. Portfolio investors, fund managers, international Forex dealers, IMF,World Bank, US Fed Reserve Bank et c. Why Nairaland accepts lies and low IQ stuff is still beyond me. Russia, Saudi Arabia, India, Brazil all have far higher reserves than the US & UK, but which countries have the better economies? which countries would people rather flock to? its same with debts, debts are a problem when there is no hope to pay within a reasonable time frame & it becomes unsustainable. that countries/institutions loan you money is a sign that they have seen enough to know that the country can pay back... in cash or kind... |
