Wow!

Thanks for sharing this info.

Kindly give a brief info on the letter from the insurance company in Nigeria.

Was it addressed to the Insurance company in Canada or 'To whom it may concern'.

What was the content of the letter?

Thanks

Thanks tollu, vascey and randomsue. I am great. Just trying to keep a very low profile. You know that moment that you are in a meeting and you are told to reach out to your network and tell them about your group. That was the situation this morning.

I am new to the group and the least amongst them in all respect. I have seen a lot the group has to offer. Opportunities to meet leaders in the industry. Our founder delivered the keynote address at the last CPA event and has been volunteering for so many events.

You don't have to be a chartered accountant to be part of the group. If you have built your career in the financial sector, you are also good to go. Our meetings are once in 2 months.

What is the procedure to get FRSC letter?

Thanks a lot for your input.

I am not too sure it will help. You need at least 2 years to be able to take the G directly or 1 year to be able to take the G2 immediately. If you're already in Canada, you can't have 2 months from Nigeria. But try sha, anything can happen.

Ok Boss.

Thanks for the clarification.

It is safe to say that the FRSC driving experience letter may not worth the hassles.

sorry, too lazy to read from the beginning of the convo, but ur last statement got me, as per the frsc letter, u may never know when it will come in handy, just get one if u can.

This is just one example. I've seen guys that got good insurance deals because they had a letter from their insurance company from back home. Once your instinct prompts u to get any document follow that instinct because the force moving you to Canada knows you are gonna need it.

well said bro

Guys in Ontario,

Please pardon my question, it might be a bit insensitive.

Is this how emergency alert will be going forward? I understand it’s importance and all but I thought it was just a notification the first time so that anytime there is a province based general emergency, we will know. Now, radio, tv, phones, everything just paused and alert came on about a child last seen with a woman and to call 911 if seen. The alert even disconnects a call just to get one’s attention.

Pls is there a way one can ‘unregister’ from this alert services?

Very insensitive. So a few minutes is such a bother to you? May it not be your turn, that's how everyone should turn off their own alerts too.

That's how complete strangers helped me find my son 2 years ago at square one mall Mississauga. Please let's be our brother's keeper and stop all these .....

*post rubbed me off the wrong way.

Oh my God.
What happened to your son?
Was he also subject of an amber alert?
How old is he?
Very sorry to hear that. Glad he was found safe and sound.

Unregister ? Seriously.
Do you have kids?
The purpose of amber alert is to ask the public for help in case of a child abduction.
It also send a strong message to anyone thinking of kidnapping a child that the entire province will be notified in a matter of seconds.

We are one big family in Ontario.
If it may happen to your neighbor, it can happen to you.
If we all unregistered, each person will be on his own.
And the moment we have stopped helping one another is the moment humanity will cease to exist.

The alert is fantastic, can't wait to relocate to a civilized society. Only if Nigerians have empathy for others we will not be where we are as a Nation today.

My brother, I don't pray it happens to my enemy. It was so traumatic for me. He was found by one of the security guys and was kept in the office till I got there.

We went to Apple store and I kept him on one of the tables with the tabs to play a game while I waited to see an advisor. I dont know how and why he got up and left while I was trying to put his sister in her buggy.
To cut the long story short I started looking for him and crying, a guy told me he saw him leave and I was like you couldn't stop him? He wasn't bothered to be honest. These two Caucasian ladies told me to show them his picture, thankfully we took pictures as we got to the mall and I showed them. They went different ways and one eventually saw a security guard who radioed and alerted the other guards and someone found him and took him to the office. They asked for my ID and I gave them my UK license as I was on holiday.

It could have been worse. I truly thank those women. I don't know what I would have done?

You do realize that if there was a natural disaster, this is how you will be notified?

Thanks for the responses. The question wasn’t asked because of the scenario today or because a child was missing( he has been found). I highlighted in my post that I understand the importance of the emergency alert services and this is even the first time I’m seeing a child is the one being looked for. Bbaby84 so sorry for the experience you had and thank God he was found.
I simply wanted to know if there was a way to disable the alerts maybe in the intermin. Didn’t look to be judged, hence the disclaimer in my introduction but it’s okay. I understand we all have to look out for one another and be our brother’s keeper. I will assume the alerts can’t be disabled.

That is the tricky part.
I always wonder what to do if I ever spot a 2 year old child wandering alone on the road.
Assume there is no phone around, should I carry him to the police? (Which may look like an abduction).
Dealing with children can be a very tricky and complicated subject in North America.

I am pretty sure the guy didn't know you were the mother. Else, he was going to notify you.
The same thing almost happened to me at a McDonald's restaurant when my 3 years old son walked out of the playground door but I was quickly notify by someone.

I think it will be best to just call the police while you ensure the child does not go into danger

The alert thing is such a wonderful idea. That is what you have in such a society.

Canada here I come!!

People like you is why Africa is what it is today. Let someone's child die, who cares, as long as my call isn't cut off. You're in a civilized society, get use to it.
