Johesu Esut Teaching Hospital To Join Strike by emekatheo(op): 10:34pm On May 14, 2018
The state chapter of the Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU) of ESUT Teaching Hospital Parklane Enugu is to commence an indefinite strike on Wednesday 16th May 2018 by 12midnight. Addressing fellow comrades and members of JOHESU in the hospital, the chairman of JOHESU in the hospital, Comrade Ben Asogwa stated that it has become imperative for members of Johesu to embark on the strike because government is paying lip service to their demands. He stated that it is only in Enugu state that health workers are still being paid with hsst and contiss salary scale which is a 21st century slavery, while doctors in the same Enugu state are enjoying COMMESS. He stated that their request is for government to abolish hsst and contiss and implement CONHESS for their members which other states have been enjoying and also improve their working condition and environment. It should be recalled that earlier this year, the governor of the state, His excellency, Rt. Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (gburugburu) promised to pay Johesu member 10% of conhess but the leadership of Johesu said it unacceptable that it must be 100% conhess. It should be recalled also that the national chapter of Johesu is still on strike and no federal hospital is working while various state chapters are also joining the strike. A nurse of the hospital when interviewed said she pities those patients in the wards.

This is a good development!

Let them continue the strike until government corrects all the imbalances in our hospitals and treat all healthcare professionals with equity and fairness.

Enough of the 21st century enslavement of healthcare professionals who are nonmedical doctors.

Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere!

Say no to injustice!!!

Nonsense, if you want to earn like a doctor, go and read medicine and surgery and become one. Rubbish

Whatever that rocks your boat. This is an overflogged issue and is not stopping anytime soon. Wait, let them finish their own strike and watch doctors go on their, and I hope you know how fatal theirs could be.

To let peace reign we all agree that no course surpasses the other but coming clean and being pragmatic, medicine is the most important. Take it or leave, there is no doubt about that.
I want to believe that you value your phone, Car more than your life. grin

If they decide to go on strike because government granted JOHESU's demands, it will prompt the government to effect a radical change in our health sector. The position of the CMD will be proscribed and CEOs who are not healthcare professionals but unbiased Managers will be appointed. The CEOs will immediately sack all the striking doctors and place adverts to employ doctors from within and outside Nigeria who are ready to work on the CEOs terms.

To your amazement, the striking doctors would be replaced with immediate effect.
Some of you think you are the only ones who are smart. It's just that successive governments have been keeping quiet and treating you with kids gloves. Government knows what to do and will not hesitate to employ radical measures to treat your matter should you decide to strike because of the growth of your fellow healthcare professionals.
You forget that you are a minority in the healthcare team.

Lol. You're pathetic thinking that life is all what humans need. Wise up man. No course is important. Besides your argument is flawed as doctors don't give life. Or do they?

Why not do your surgery with hands instead of machines? Most of the health professionals has been saving a lot of lives... Go Google it man.

The highest paid in the world are doctors, is non debatable.
Johesu should go and sit down for all I care. cheesy
See their faces like 100%.
Nigeria government should not listen to them, rather they should continue increasing the salary of doctors, so that we will get satisfied and fight for their own course like the Canadian doctors.
