Nigerian Billionaire, Femi Otedola, has countered claims that he declared his intention to run for the Governor of Lagos State in the 2019 elections. This is coming after a parody account claimed that the billionaire businessman declared his interest in the election, with his Lagos deserves better tweet. The Parody account's post reads; 

However in new tweets, Femi Otedola who noted that he is a man of the people and will always be on the side of the masses, countered claims of contesting in the 2019 Lagos State Governorship polls. His tweets reads; 

My attention has been drawn to a news piece where false information from a parody account was posted. I am a man of the people and I will always be on the side of the masses but I am stating clearly via this medium that I am not running for office.

The Governor of Lagos State is doing a commendable job and Lagosians should be proud of him.

Of course, I knew he never intended running. Here in Nigeria, those who are stupendously rich don't take public posts because they don't need it. I mean, here in Nigeria, individuals occupy posts to enrich themselves, and not to serve. People only go into politics for the cash. The average Nigerian, given the wealth he/she desires, doesn't give a hoot about public offices.

In my country Nigeria, the genuinely rich are nonchallant about public posts. They would rather watch from one corner as these polithiefcians loot the nation dry. What does it matter to them? It doesn't deflate their wealth.

I'm still waiting for otedola, dangote, adenuga, elumelu, jim ovia, alakija, etc., to contest for public positions; to come out and serve the people.
