Is YORUBA Vs IGBO Hatred Limited To Social Media? by Ezegozie(op): 10:09am On May 19, 2018
As we all know, tribalism and hatred especially among Yorubas and Igbos is a common thing on social Media

But personally, I have interacted with few Yorubas and believe me I was never hated or treated badly but each time I come online here I become surprise at the level of tribalism and hatred going on here.

Now I am forced to ask.

Is Yoruba vs Igbo hatred and tribalism limited to social media or probably I don't have enough experience and interaction to observe the hatred in real life?

You are right. Most times we do it for fun. Real life most of my School friends are Yoruba and apart from when he wanted to take my Girlfriend behind me which we quickly resolved in a matured way, we hardly have problem.

We are mainly divided by Religion

Generally, Igbos and Yorubas don't like each other. The two tribes are as different as Night and day.

Most Yorubas don't know anything about Igbos

The average Yoruba cannot say anything about Igbo tradition or custom

The average Yoruba man does not know more than 3 words in Igbo language

But the worst thing is that the Yoruba man will be the first to say he knows Igbos more than Igbos know themselves

It's easy to see that iPods have an inferiority complex along with a low self esteem, so they try and make up by being extremely boastful. So it's akin to beating an hollow chest. That's why we laugh at you lots, it's obvious for all to see the empty chest beating. Amaka all over the place

I think even if all was well,NL and social media is changing everything.....
Every Nigerian has a measure of been a tribalist, nobody should try to deceive oneself...
But the difference is,to what extent?

It depends on when it shows off...
My closest friends till now are Yorubas and we are good, but a knotty issue might come up and you will see that my-tribe-above-others mentality few times from either them or me.
But soon after,we stand for one another again...every tribe get e own wahala jare
So,generally....it's mainly a social media thing but the way things are going,in the next few years,it will blow up....

shocked, igbo man talks about back stabbing hehehehehe. That got me rolling on the floor. Abeg, what should we call not voting for ojukwu despite using his life to fight for you hehehehe. You even have the got to talk about dirtiness, kikikikikikiki. Can you remind me the tribe that world health organization called the dirtiest in the world by disgracing their 3 cities grin. And why do you think kanu called you people pigs? grin. Can anyone see the reason nwosu said his people are lazy thinkers and nwazuruike said they are the most foolish tribe in the world?. Op, you can see that this guy has justified nwosu and nwazuruike's views about the igbo tribe. grin

-There is no hate. It’s all banter. Its a bit like English and Scots people.

-But some Yoruba dey fall hand no be small and we just like to call them out for it. I have always helped Yorubas around me, who by the way are always looking for something to benefit from you. I don’t know where they got this apparent pre-notion that every Igbo man is somehow rich and sheepishly following our women for nyash has become their hallmark. Smh.

That one is more of political than pure hatred we have here. Such is always expected in politics. Here we hear something like flat and cone head, Afonja, skull miners etc

I think it's limited to social media except those who decide to take it beyond that. I interact with Igbo freely here likewise my brother. My brother even understands Igbo because he has a lots of them as friends.
