For many years, the completion of the MKO Abiola International Airport was a major expectation that the people of Osun State looked forward to. The host, the Ido Osun community, had imagined the significant gains that would accrue to them after the take-off of the use of the facility. After expending so much money, the public was shocked when the Osun State governor, Rauf Aregbesola, announced the failure of the project. OLUWOLE IGE reports the many sides to a promising project gone awry.Source: http://www.tribuneonlineng.com/osun-n69bn-mko-abiola-international-airport-untold-story-of-a-promising-project-gone-awry/ Front Page: Lalasticlala

To complete the entire establishment of the airport with five-star hotels including all amenities like a cultural centre, water park recreation centre and garden, butterfly museum and casinos, it will take the period of two years. Its weird all these airport projects come with 101 gimmicks. An airport thst comes with cargo opperstions and hotel is normal. The casino, water park, museaum and garden is out there. Anyway its going to be up to the next governor to figure out how get this project off the ground if ever. Front Page: Lalasticlala |

I know some idiots will say the airport was a scam from onset, I will be waiting for them because despite the intentional cutting of Osun state's Budget , Aregbesola did miracles in Osun state |

If Osun state had the resources and built that airport , trust me People from Ilorin and Ibadan will have to come to Osun to board their flights |

I'd advice against naming anything tangible after MKO Abiola. He was a treasonist, His source of wealth wasn't clean. He left no legacy. Not even Concord Airline could be well managed. So why name an airport after him? Why? With these few points of mine, I hope I have convinced you on why MKO Abiola deserves no honour and why Osun airport should not be named after him. |

.lols Osun oni baje. Lagos is developed because it was once a capital. Apart from the states in the SS and SE no other region has been able to build airports without FG intervention. Yet these goats will first shout our Lagos!!! I blame Niger Delta leaders for allowing their oil wealth to be used to develop foreign lands. Ordinary airport they cannot build. Sophisticated. As usual I don’t respond to mentions, feel free to quote me though... |

HtwoOw:You dont need to call people idiots because of sentiment. You should know from onset, this airport is not viable, but politics make us see things differently. How do you want people to travel to Ido-Osun to catch a plane; whereas Lagos, Ibadan, Akure, Ilorin are within same axis. Even if it is cargo airport, what are the produce expected to be transported? It is high time our government stop wasting scarce resources on nothingless. Just like the name of the company, AWOL It has gone Away Without Leave! God bless Nigetia. |

They should forego the project like they did. Yoruba as a tribe is allergic to development. Come to think of it,how many of them are not witches? so with or without the airport, they will always fly.

Blue3k:The project was dead on arrival. We (Nigerians) have this mentality that airports bring development when in reality, its the other way around. I doubt if there's any profitable airport in Nigeria today and some states are still building more. |
