There is a serious debate here.

Is a fetus a parasite to its mother?

were you a parasite to your parents?
you took their time, money, energy. raising you from a child to an adult definitely stunted some of their opportunities.

the answer to that is the answer to your question.

fetus is not parasitic...its a mutual relationship between organisms of the same species as the baby is deriving nutrition from the mother she is also getting her returns from the baby her hormonal levels changes positively she starts to gain weight grow more boobies massive raised butt, more appetite and etc... Note: parasitism do not occur among organisms of the same species its just like caterpillar eating a butterfly or egg eating a chicken..so pointless question...unless it is stated as cannibalism which is obviously not ...Good day

Even at the presence of proper care there are some symptoms that will still manifest
Like Anaemia, Vomiting, tiredness and metabolic disorder.

The symptoms themselves do not qualify as inevitable harm to the host. Many women do not experience hyperemesis gravidarum (vomiting) during pregnancy. A woman who is healthy & on balanced diet along with proper ante-natal care will be just fine.

While parasites can decimate the host, a foetus enables perpetuation of the host's species.

Simply put, a foetus does not meet basic requirements to be a parasite such as : being of a different species to the host, invades from outside to live in or on the host, must directly have contact with host's tissue, etc.

The obligatory dependence of the foetus on mother is not enough to be a parasite.

A parasite will generally weaken the cellular reproductive capacity of the host. For a fetus, the effect is the opposite .

Parasites are invasive organism that come from an outside or external source. A fetus comes from an
inside or internal source (ie fertilized egg)

Reference :Quora

Please is the egg not fertilised from an outside source? U av eggs in u, why are u not pregnant without a man?

Your egg is part of u and its not in any way liable to result into pregnancy unless sperm is involved (which is from outside source)

A person on drugs with proper nutrition will be fine too, that's why we have healthy HIV patients now... Foetus is a parasite, biologically, simple... On the moral aspect, we'll it's not

See question grin
A parasitic relationship is one in which one party benefits from it while the host suffers adversely from it

The relationship between a fetus and its mother is more like a symbiotic one, where one party benefits from the relationship and the host isn’t affected negatively or positively
Its More Of A Commensalism Relationship Than A Symbiotic. In Commensalism, The Host Does Not Benefit And Does Not Get Affected

A fetus is not a parasite

A parasite is an organism of one species in or on an organism of other species & deriving nourishment from the host

A foetus is an organism of one species living in the uterine cavity of an organism of the same species and deriving nourishment from the mother. A dependent relationship, but not a parasitic relationship

A parasite is harmful to some degree to the host

A foetus does not usually cause harm to the mother, provided proper care & nutrition is provided by the mother

Harm aren't supposed to exclusively mean drastic or deadly effects. There are some side effects of pregnancy which we all know, if u are dizzy, constant tiredness, nauseating, abnormal appetite, I'd say u are sick ordinarily. Also, I'd like u to clarify more between the first two definitions u gave. They are both thesame to me. Through the umbilical cord, the babe derives its nutrition from the mother, and when u don't eat properly or take fortifications, the effects are similar to that of you not treating a disease, that equates the effect of a foetus to that of a parasite. And I don't see any benefit of a foetus to the carrier (pls exclude the moralist argument)

No. Its the exact same thing. A fetus takes nutrition from the mother, a child takes resources from the parents.

This argument really exposes the weakness of English language as a tool in describing organisms. Semantically a foetus is most definitely a parasite, and the reasons you provided in opposition of the notion really reinforce the hypothesis.

English as a scientifc language will not define an intrinsic difference between some attributive pronouns. The ultimate objective of the organism can only be understood by adding an adjective e.g. benign or malignant parasite.

A foetus naturally ticks all the conditions of a benign, temporary parasite, that helps the body like leeches and mushroom fungus. A leech behaves very similarly to a foetus and God mentions it in the Qur'an to describe the foetus in the early stages of embryo development.

Unless you are talking of voodoo biology a foetus is never a parasite. I outlined the biological requirements of a parasite in my previous post. So I do not know which alien biology you are talking about. Pick up a good modern reputable journal of parasitology and learn about it. grin cheesy
