Nairobi slums occupy 5% of the land...and 60% of resident at one point stayed in slum. The slum by strict definition that is set by UN Habitat. South Africa Soweto would be high class residential estate in Nigeria but in South Africa it's a slum. Place that we call in Nairobi slums - would include entire cities of Nigeria. Places in Brazils Rio that they call slums - would be cities in Nigeria

You cannot cook what a slum is or not. You don't have constant supply of water or electricity. THAT IS ONE BIG SLUM. You're talking about your public primary schools yet our University,that is the university of Nairobi was ranked the 7th best university in Africa interms of offering quality education beating all the Nigerian universities including your best university which is university of ibadan that was ranked 10th best in Africa.

In the top 30 best universities in Africa,only one Nigerian university appears on the list,university of ibadan while four Kenyan universities appears on the list,that's moi,egerton and kenyatta universities.

I would cry for Nigeria but it's not worth my tears. I am excited about the prospect of my country and like many kenyans I am optimistics that we have turned the corner - and are aiming at level of South Africa - a proper middle class country.

Lego city - blocks of squares and rectangles - a concrete monstrosity that doesn't inspire creative thinking. You can have all the petro-dollars but without good architects and contractors - you'll produce such HUGE ugly ugly buildings. Yeah kenya has made tremendous progress the last 18yrs - but well the condition for a slum is an OR - as long as one of conditions fails - then the area is a slum - most of Nairobi's eastland and informal settlement are definitely slums. The entire Nigeria on Electricity or Water or Sewage alone are Slums. It doesn't matter if you mitigate it with cracking generator or borehole or sewage - you are either in a slum or not.

I think this thread has been an eye-opener for them. We've done our part in helping them understand just how backward and deluded they are. I am sure after they go through these 2,000 (nearly) pages - they'll start serious introspection on the direction of their country. It shock therapy. And they really need it.
