You guys are the ones who claim that we live in slums called cities. So, is it a crime for me to ask to see the beautiful middle and low income suburbs of Kenya?

Pls you guys should not fail yourselves.

l have told them there's a difference between investors investing in your country(which is a good thing and which all countries can't really do without) and indigenous home grown investment.
l like foreign investments in Nigeria and foreigners of course teach us many things(we need them), but l am most proud when blacks do their own thing indigenously too, or like the Asians, learn from foreigners and apply the knowledge at home to build home grown investments and start up's. This to me is more exciting, and it's what can save Africa.
Nigeria is doing it slowly, and must help other Africans realize this truth. While our banks grow and spread across West Africa especially to Liberia for Instance, l would prefer that we train the Liberians to establish more banks and financial sectors for themselves, so they can stand on their own.
Africa as a whole( Nigeria included) must invest more in human capital to truly become powerful.

I am waiting for your adorable Kenyan middle and low income suburbs.

This is Surulere, a large suburb of Lagos. We know they are box houses. This is where typical low middleclass and low income Nigerians live.
Let's see that of Kenya.

In case you didn't know, all top banks in Kenya are locally owned and the few smaller ones that are foreign owned have sizeable Kenyan shareholders. Get off your high horse.

Ghana Is Not Like Nigeria Where Cattle Roam The Streets – Ghanaian President Mocks Nigerians

The Ghanian President, Nana Akufo-Addo has mocked Nigerians the ways Cattle roaming the street of Abuja, the country capital, the poor state of security in Nigeria and the naira’s weakening status, said he felt ashamed that Nigeria had lost its respect in Africa.

Meanwhile, the former President Goodluck Jonathan has expressed disappointment on how Nigeria is currently being used as a negative example in the international community.

Jonathan citing recent instances when the Ghanaian President, Nana Akufo-Addo, mocked the poor state of security in Nigeria and the naira’s weakening status, said he felt ashamed that Nigeria had lost its respect in Africa.

Jonathan stated this at the inauguration of the first bridge built by Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State in Ado Ekiti, the state capital, on Friday.

He said, “He (Ghanaian President) said Ghana is not like Nigeria where cattle roam the streets. At another occasion in the United Kingdom, he made scathing remarks about Nigeria’s currency.

“I feel ashamed as a former President that the president of a neighbouring country used Nigeria as negative examples.

“If a neighbouring African president will use Nigeria to make negative examples, then we as leaders must know certain things are wrong in the country. That means we as leaders must change the way we do things.”

The former President further advised President Muhammadu Buhari to resist pressure to rig the July 14 governorship election in Ekiti State and subsequent elections in the country.

“I don’t believe anybody can defeat the PDP in Ekiti if the election is going to be held.

“I use this opportunity to call on Mr. President because I was there before. When you are there, there is so much pressure on you to use your power to subjugate democracy.

“Don’t do that because when you are going; the only thing you leave behind is your good name. If you use it wrongly, posterity will haunt you. I call on Mr. President to use his power to strengthen democracy,” Jonathan added.

The problem with dangote nation is corruption.
Corruption is so fertile there to the extent that they've planted it in learning institutions especially in their universities precisely federal and state universities.
For you to get admission into any Nigerian university, you must remove 'something'
so as to be considered a chance even after struggling to pass their merit exams, the likes of JAMB and POST UTME stuffs.

All these was shared to me by a Nigerian friend of mine who is a 4th year IT student at Multimedia university of Kenya grin

Well l never removed anything to get admission. This is not to say your friend is wrong but that he didn't tell you the whole story. There is corruption and bribery system that allows those who have connections or those who can bribe to get into the university even when they ain't qualified (but even this is usually underground and not openly done).
However those who qualify for admission into the university in most cases do not need to bribe their way in. l didn't bribe my way in, most of us who got the cut off in jamb and post jamb exams didn't have to bribe our way in either, so your friend dished you half truths.
Now there is great level of corruption and bribery in Kenya, am l wrong?
Be careful what you repeat here from so called Nigerians in countries like Kenya, probably your friend failed jamb and couldn't get in, hence he could only blame the entire system for his misfortune.
Kenya then comes to his rescue.

tertiary institutions in Nigeria is not an easy feat, u have to undergo series of test before entering the university.

After high school, u have to pass Jamb and Post Jamb before u go to college, it's not removing "something". It's just like sieving the very best and admitting them, once u pass those two exams, u're off to d uni. Most of the Nigerian students in Ghana(which I'm very sure of) are those that can't pass the exams.

We have so many foreign students studying in some of our varsities like Rwandese,Tanzanians,Ugandans,Zambians,Zimbabweans,Ghanaians,Americans,British, south African,Arabs, indians just to mention but a few.

So we can't be proud simply because Nigerian students are studying in some of our varsities yet the population of Kenyan students graduating from high school to universities is increasing annually, that's what we're exactly proud of,and this makes our government to focus more on further improving all Kenyan public universities to make them world class institutions, that's why our UoN appears 7th best on the top ten list of Africa's best universities.

These Nigerians studying we just view them as any other normal Kenyan students because they have nothing special to be accorded with..

White students like Americans,British, germans aren't also left out on the list of foreign students studying in Kenya

Nigerians who can study abroad would not think of Kenya first, it's usually the U.S, U.K, Germany, etc not Kenya.

So you know more about them than me yet they're in our education backyard,I've interacted with a handful of them and out of those whom I've interacted with, majority of them came to study here due to the nature of their financial background, choice of environment to study in and some were lucky to fall for merit scholarships from Nigerian charitable organizations.

The process for admitting one into Nigerian Universities is usually long and hectic unlike Kenya's which is short, clean and transparent, that's why they wither off with the Nigeria's system and they opt to study abroad in places like Kenya.

Furthermore,we don't sit for those merit exams in the name of securing chance in the university because our government doesn't have money to waste in the examination processes, that's setting, printing, marking and releasing results, our high school results are worth enough to prove if you're fit to join campus or not,and as for that, every year, our government places cut off points for students wishing to join campus through government 60% sponsorship.

And I don't know the population of Nigerian students in our varsities unless the ministry of education conduct some survey for the foreign students studying here placing them on the basis of their nationalities.

Nothing is special about that cause almost every African yearns to study in white universities, even here in Kenya, our students sets that priority first on either to study in UK,US,Russia and China.

Its very true that Nigerians usually prefer to study in UK,US etc but they usually find themselves studying in other African universities because some of them are usually denied visa to access those countries,so they usually shift their focus on that.
By the way,are there Kenyan students studying in your varsities?
