JoannaSedley:U gnash ur teeth that 99% of medical dramas are centred around doctors and these dramas emanate from the most civilised countries in the world. There should be a Johesu branch in the US, telling the health workers to down tools. Shame on Biobolemoye and his cohort. The obese ignoramus will crash land in the most shameful of ways. |

MrBigiman:of course. Typical response. Call the midwife, Hawthorne, Nurse Jackie, Trauma, life in the E.R, Scrub, Bizarre E.R, Mystery Diagnosis and ER were all centered around only doctors right? Even the US medics criticised grey anatomy when they saw surgeons/doctors doing everything, they knew it does not depict reality. A far cry to to what is obtainable. I referred you to reddit.com/medicine, didn't I ? Please go there and get enlightened. |

OgaInnocent:Your tact and intellect is admirable and I hope at the end of our discourse, you'll see what enlightenment I've seen. Non doctors can't be made doctors without the due process of MBBS-that's undisputed, we are just afraid of loosing our "misinformed power grip"- whose cure is KNOWLEDGE! It's just like saying a Surgeon being afraid a Physiotherapist will take over his job(I find it absurd, he's not even trained to do that). When a Pharmacist says he knows everything a Physician knows except surgery(which most often than not, is said out of this same old resentment unfortunately infused into us from our egocentric educational systems), I don't trade words because I know better, I just enlighten him why what he knows and what I know don't matter to each other but to the patient. In the end we share a mutual understanding why we are team mates for a common cause. Some of my best surgical outcomes came about with huge inputs from Nurses and Physiotherapists and vice versa. |

No need to argue nonsense. The best way to demonstrate whose input is superior regarding patient health and general wellbeing is to present a medical doctor and a representative from each professional cadre of JOHESU and ask the patient to chose who to treat him/her. Only then will you appreciate why johesu members feel proud and happy when a patient ignorantly calls them 'doctor'. Only then will you know that a medical doctor is versatile and 'all knowing'(workforce is the only limitation) except area of drug production which is not business of the hospital environment. Only then will you appreciate why headship of hospital management(CMD) is perculiar to only doctors. Already there is provision of CMD in conmess but none in conhess. The only solution tothis issue is for government to seperate headship of core clinical duties(CMD; perculiar to doctors) from administrative duties(CEO; perculiar to only professions in public/buisness administration not johesu). JOHESU is jus afraid of the power and verstility of a medical doctor. |

OgaInnocent:me too. I agree with Hospital management and Hazard alalownace but disagree with Non-medical consultant You cannot be a consultant if you are not responsible for patient care or consulted. A dentist or an Optometrist can be a consultant but not a pharmacist or lab med who are not directly consulted by the patients |

fitzfrankses7:Great. Great , great. Am very impressed. I can conclude from this that you are not a Nigerian or you were not trained in Nigeria. Average Nigerians do not reason this way. I pray both parties listen to voice of reason. Pls what's your specialty in surgery? Me, am in 4th MBBS class (OBGY, PAEDO, and COMM MED). |

Just to clarify this johesu is not asking for equal payment with the medical Doctor, My Dad is a johesu member earns 28,500 naira as his monthly salary , if government can adjust the new salary scale ,his salary will be 32,000. Please how does this equivalent to what a medical student earns? With the present economy of our country , is it normal for a group to instruct the federal government not to increase the salary of some workers? Despite, this has no effect on their salaries. Johesu needs salary readjustment not equal pay with physician |

Omitalor:Firstly, why does ur dad earn that amount if what u said is true?, what is ur dad's work in the hospital?, it's always better to start from there. Johesu using Doctors as their agitation reference reeks of envy and jealousy |

monex:This is ur own definition of consultant. We are talking about international best practices here not your useless opinion |

Nigerians due to the level of our literacies, we find it difficult to appreciate what johesu members do in our hospital. Go to abroad, where every thing is done with some level of sanity. Imagine, in Nigeria a patient will tell you that she comes to hospital to see a physician forgetting that physician can only attend to his medical/surgical conditions, and only nurses can attend to her responses to this medical / surgical conditions. |
