Why is it that sex is a taboo during the noon of fasting?

I mean why is it not allowed for legally married couple to engage in sex during fasting, God created sex for couples, sex is not a sin, sex is not satanic and also. Fasting is a medical terminology meaning abstinence from all kind of food, water or all consumables for at least 8 hours. Also, religiously fasting is seen as an holy things, so where did sex becomes something that can terminate fasting.

1. The God of Islam (Allaah) made it so. Muslims are to abstain from food, water, sex, etc during the period of Fajr to Sunset (Magrib). Islam is a complete way of life. We hear and we obey!

2. Eating food is not a sin except the food is stolen, so also sex is also a kind of "food" for the married.

3. Sex in marriage is holy and sex out of marriage is unholy, filthy and punishable as Allah wills!

4. Sex is an act of worship in Islam and one who does it in marriage is rewarded positively while those who do it out of marriage gets negative reward.

5. The Islamic kind of fasting is as such that we follow the Prophet Muhammad (salallahu alayhi wasalam). All acts of worship in Islam are as the Prophet explained it to his companions!

Thanks for the reply, I will be glad if there is any Quranic back up to this, simply because human way of reasoning as find its way into religion, obviously the two common religion in Nigeria believe Sex is a no no while fasting.

Al-Baqarah 2:187

And do not have relations with them as long as you are staying for worship in the mosques. These are the limits [set by] Allah, so do not approach them. Thus does Allah make clear His ordinances to the people that they may become righteous .

An-Nahl 16:64

Sex outside marriage is death penalty (stone to death) or heavy lashes, so yeah Islam is the complete way of life.

It is permissible for the husband and the wife to enjoy each other during the night of the fasts, but it is absolutely impermissible and forbidden for them to have sexual relations with each other during the fasting hours.

Allah سبحانه و تعالى (Glory to Him, the Most High) says:

It has been made lawful for you to go in to your wives during the night of the fast. They are your garment, and you are theirs. Allah knows that you used to betray yourselves and He mercifully relented and pardoned you. So you may now associate intimately with your wives and benefit from the enjoyment Allah has made lawful for you, and eat and drink at night until you can discern the white streak of dawn against the blackness of the night; then (give up all that and) complete your fasting until night sets in.
{Surat al-Baqarah:187]

If one does have intercourse with his wife while he is fasting, then he must atone for this transgression by either freeing a slave, (and if he cannot afford to do that) by fasting for two months consecutively, (and if he does not have the force to do that) by feeding sixty poor people. This would be the kaffarah or atonement for having sexual intercourse while one is fasting.

Abu Hurairah reported:

A man came to the Messenger of Allah صلي الله عليه وسلم (peace and blessings be upon him and said: "I am destroyed, O Messenger of Allah !" The Prophet صلي الله عليه وسلم (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "What has destroyed you?" He said, "I had intercourse with my wife during a day of Ramadan." The Prophet asked: "Are you able to free a slave?" He said, "No". The Prophet asked: "Is it possible for you to fast for two consecutive months?" He said, "No." The Prophet asked: "Is it possible for you to feed sixty poor people?" He said, "No." The Prophet said: "Then sit." A basket of dates was brought to the Prophet and he said to the man: Give this in charity. The man said: "To someone poorer than us? There is no one in this city who is poorer than us!" The Prophet smiled until his molar teeth could be seen and said: "Go and feed your family with it."

Regarding the ruling on hugging, or kissing, etc., there are several narrations from the authentic Sunnah whereby it is recorded that the Messenger of Allah صلي الله عليه وسلم (peace and blessings be upon him) would touch and kiss some of his wives while he was fasting; thus the scholars are unanimous in their opinion that touching, hugging, or kissing ones wives during fasts does not invalidate or break the fast as long as it will not come to a point of having intercourse or ejaculating.

It is reported that 'Aishah رضي الله عن (may Allah be pleased with her) said:

"The Prophet (saws) would kiss and embrace while he was fasting, for he had the most control of all of you over his desires."

Umar said:

"I was excited one time and I kissed [my wife] while I was fasting. I went to the Prophet and said: 'Today I committed a horrendous act--I kissed while I was fasting.' The Prophet asked: 'What do you think of rinsing with water while fasting?' I said: 'There is nothing wrong with that.' The Prophet said: 'Then what is the question about?'"

This is quite simple. Sex is not evil, it is only not allowed during the day of permissible at night.

Sex is very pure when with your legitimate partner but as fasting is called abstinence for a period of time which includes sex, food, water etc, we have to obey as commanded. Is water unholy just cos we can't take it cos we're fasting? May Allah make It easy.
