Benin kingdom/Edo people didn’t really participate in slave trade. It was outlawed in all Edo territories. That’s why you don’t see any slave descendants or history of slavery in Edolands including Eastern Yoruba (also known as Western Edo)..

It was the Yorubas selling themselves.. Oyo selling almost western Yorubas into slavery.
I think it was the ijaws that was kidnaping and selling the igbos into slavery.

Ekiti, ondo and environs are all Western Edo. Even Ekiti and ondo governments recognize Edo as part of the people’s culture. Till tomorrow seniors citizens in Idanre and other parts of western Edo still speak the Edo language.
