If u are asking for what the Niger Dela states have done with their 13%, then show me what they rest of the states have done with their 87%.

While corruption is a national problem, we must not deny a people what they deserve on the basis of corruption.

If anyone has the right to demand the 13% derivatives given to the states in the N. Delta, it should be their indigenes. And no reasonable indigene will ask that money accrued to his region be stopped because of corruption.

Now, 13% derivation is wat oil producing states get constitutionally from revenue receipts from crude oil sales by FG.
Excess crude account is a special account created by the OBJ regime, and it to be credited with excess monies from crude sales above the annual budgetary benchmark i.e if FG expects to sell a barrel of oil @ $50 in a particular year but she ends up selling @ $70 per barrel, the excess $20 is transferred to the ECA.
Now wat governors from oil producing states are asking for, is that the same 13% derivation should simply be applied anytime withdrawals are to be made from the ECA which is very logical since the money in that account is from crude oil sales not budgeted for!
Flowing from the above, u will be wrong to call them thieves because FG will continue to shortchange the Niger Delta region with this ECA if 13% derivation is not applied.

Whatever happens or whichever way the money is spent is none of the non - oil producing states & peoples business. It is a great injustice. They fought for this derivation up to 13%. During Obj, the littoral states fought the government on Onshore / Offshore dichotomy. Thank God, Obj is from a littoral state. The executive bill to hand over water ways to FG can never be supported by South West and the FG is aware. There has been an intense battle over the years between FG & Lagos State government over the control of Inland Waterways in Lagos. This battle was so intense that various legal interpretation has been made on it, yet, Lagos won.

You cannot deny the people the control of their resources & yet deny them their constitutional entitlement. When oil price was very low, they can understand with government, but with money in the ECA as a result of increase in the price of crude they should be given their money. Bayelsa in particular needs more funding.

When Gov Udom & Ambode jointly hosted Southern States Governors Forum in Lagos, the people from a region in the South condemned the meeting. Nairaland was very busy that night with a lot of insults against another region in the south. The littoral states battle for the betterment of the littoral states was led by Tinubu & Chief Olusegun Osoba till the end.

Where was the south south developmentally in 1999 compared to 2018?

Relative to the kind of environmental degradation, pollution, difficult swampy terrain, and vast land mass, is the amount received so far by the region significant enough to solve it's problems?

The oil-producing states are part of the entity called Nigeria.

If war starts there where do you think they are going to run to?
