Hello, I’m going for 12days can I book hotel for 6 days? Because the hotel I’m booking has no refund and I need to check if it’s worth it before committing all my money on it. Will this be an issue in port if entert for not booking for all durations prior thanks.

Sorry, are you constrained to book this hotel that has no refund policy or what? Why will you book one of such in the first place?

I have used the hotel before, it’s the most affordable for me and OK for the price. Just thinking things could have changed there and don’t wanna go in all.

Your explanation earlier on coupled with this isn't a bad one though. Normally won't do this, but will advise that you book one - a refundable one - covering all of your stay for POE purpose (this hardly will be necessary for me oh, I somehow can have the effrontery to square up and chin up, and chest out arriving a POE without one and discuss it smoothly with a CBP officer if the need arises, as an old-timer though, especially when enough raw cash is on me), and another one for two or three days first with this hotel of your choice.

If you happen to still like them, use them for the entirety of your trip, if not, you change hotels in line with your plan above....

MODIFICATION: No Prepayment/Free Cancelation in place of refundable! That was a mistake please

Happy new month everyone, I have been a silent reader on this platform and I sincerely appreciate the great work that the MODs are doing to help humanity. May the FORCE deal you all a good one.

I have a family vacation already set for month end however, whilst on the trip, we'll need to do a IAH - BWI - IAH "mm-dd-yyyy" (07/03/2018 - 07/07/2018) trip but what I'm seeing on expedia.com at present is hovering around N240k.

Would appreciate if seyewest and others can help get a better deal please.
Family of 3 (baby's age < 2)

Great job @ seyewest and all

Look for a better hotel where you can make reservation with cancellation.

1. As a first timer you can fly through New York but you must have your onward ticket to MCO available and ready before leaving Nigeria.
2. Did you apply as a family? if so maybe your husband can travel alone while you can travel with the kids at another date (it's not a must you must travel on the chosen date on your ds160 since you're on a visit visa)
3. Check Wakanow etc to compare prices.

That is my fear

It actually will be in your best interest not to use that visa for anything yet but a conference, in fact one in tandem with the one you couldn't attend....

Quite possible. But it will even be less risky if the rest of the family made the trip without him than him making it without the rest of you!

thank you very much sir, but what if I choose a conference in another state( like new jersey) other than the initial state( California) which was documented when I was granted the visa?

Please I need to know the cheapest flight from Lagos to San Diego or los Angeles (whichever is cheaper) for 3. One infant and 2 child and one adult. For one way tickets (pls check dates from July 15 - July 25.
Then for one adult and 2 children (same flight as above) but round trip. To return one month after.

Fine just like @omobendel said, it must be used for conference... don't misuse your first visa.

And I just passed through JFK amidst all hysteria that DO NOT PASS through JFK!!

Okay let me be begin. Even though I was taken to secondary inspection for further questioning I still feel there isn’t much need for alarm.

Leaving Naija to NY isn't a red flag as some say (The whole story about 10 people that had their visas canceled at MMIA)

@seyewest imagine o the conference I was coming for has been postponed till November but I already had my ticket and just thought to come as planned. (So I couldn’t talk about the conference again)

Arriving JFK my transcript reads

CBP: Passport please
Me: Passes passport
CBP: Scans my passport sees I was in the US in January, asked why I’m back again.
Me: I’m here on Vacation
CBP: You were here in January for vacation which means this time this isn’t for vacation.
Me: I’m here on vacation I’m entitled to 20 days leave and used my last year leave in January and it was too cold couldn’t enjoy my time. I’m here again to have fun and enjoy myself.
CBP: Who are you visiting?
Me: My Uncle
CBP: Where did you visit the last time and how many days did you spend
Me: I visited Atlanta and also stayed with my other Uncle and I stayed for only 18days.
CBP: How long are you staying this time
Me: 2weeks (14days)

CBP hands my passport to someone and tells me to wait aside.

Officer then tells me to follow him to the inner room that my luggage will be brought in for thorough check.

While inside the room. Questions begin to come up as if I’m on a new visa interview and I answered exactly same as I did during the interview.

My baggage arrives. CBP searches through from behind and the side. I could hear him tell the other officer this guy has nothing on him.

All of a sudden he hands me my passport which I didn’t know was already stamped 6months and tells me you’re free to go.

I was the only person taken inside and this isn’t about Canadian border or any special scrutiny to Nigerians. It was due to the CBP wondering why I’m back for another vacation in 6months time.

I’ll be back to Naija soon. Make I enjoy this summer jor New York make sense jor! I don’t understand why people are abusing visa to cross into Canada

Please o JFK is safe !!

This is what have been saying. Some Nigerians are the one hyping this canada/asylum ish.

I flew in some weeks ago from Lagos and came in through JFK,at the carousel, had a little chat with fellow Nigerians how their experience was at POE,they all said it was cool.

A friend got his visa almost 2 years ago,but told the VO he was visiting Chicago,he could not travel at the said time he told the VO due to work,he came in through JFK last week and no single question was ask.

This is where you get it wrong with statistics....
If 1000 Nigerians travel to New York POE and 10 were deported which is less than 10% of 1000 do you know that the talk will be about the 10 deported not the 990 allowed in.
So because you have no issue getting into U.S does not mean there's no problem. There's problem and U.S Homeland is working overtime to return Nigerians perceived with Immigration intent for U.S and Canada.
They've been deporting Nigerians since way back but it has spike recently due to Nigerians crossing the border illegally to Canada.

A person with legit intent has nothing to fear, my brother entered through JFK going to Seattle no issue whatsoever at the POE. Only the guilty have something to be afraid of.

You are the one getting things wrong here.I use to work at JFK,I still have friends working there. You are among the few that is over-hyping this Canada/asylum ish.

Before now,Nigerians do have issues at various POE accross America and they get deported for different reasons best known to the CPB officer.

As for the Canada/asylum,I can boldly tell you that 98% of Nigerians that move to Canada were already leaving in the US for a long period, many move due to their paper wahala and Trump as president.

98% ke, oh really? Why then do you think it is becoming a source of concern and worry to the Canadian authorities? I thought the bulk of those involved in this are with valid US visas, not out of status, and in fact many with "fresh/new" visas. A little education may help my curiosity here please....
