I hope the chest beating idio.tic ipods will help the woman out. They keep bragging about how they are all billionaires and own all properties in Nigeria. They should help her secure a new shop. |

The best way for the government to deal with the poor and vulnerable in our midst is to have a system of relocation in place. 1) Before demolition of thatch shops and other unauthorised structures in the city, a database/list of all affected people should be taken 2) Create hawking free-zones and hawking-friendly zones 3) On hawking-friendly areas, design modernized modular shops alongside the road construction design process and then build them alongside the roads. This will eliminate all the thatch structures that litter the city making them slums and shanties. 4) Reassign the shops to those whose shops were demolished as relocation/resettlement package and also donate some cash to them to boost their trading or give the affected traders one Keke each to aid in transportation since their new shops could be far away from their homes. |

As much I sympathize with her, we have to admit, Nigerians are extremely stubborn; you see people erecting structures were they are not supposed to believing government officials will be settled in case of any problems.. It always end up badly.. |

We all know that happens. I won't have issues if she was rich, enough to erect a structure illegally. I would care less if a multi-million naira building was demolished. However, this case is about a very poor woman who is trying hard to provide for her family. We should do good by her by supporting and encouraging her to continue to be self-reliant, so she doesn't become a menace to us all. Afterall, she's poor because her share in our nation's wealth have been stolen by politicians, government officials and their businessmen friends. That is why she is hawking in the shanty shop. We are asking that the government should settle her as they embark on developing the state. It is a fundamental right for her to also live a decent life. The government should not deprive her that, especially considering that Anambra government officials are using this project to steal monies..... you know.....the share of this woman's monies. That is all we are asking for. Baroba: |

Okoroawusa:Guy, Imo state is even too far. If it happened in Lagos, you will hear a different story. It will be interpreted to mean that the Southwest people have an agenda to deprive the Southeast traders, of their livelihood. BoneBlogger:You cannot break the law and plead for pity, it's not like she was at a planned and appropriate space and williwilli came to Low up her shop, this is self inflicted, if she was oriented she would have been in a state to even sue the government, some certain people in Nigeria need to learn to do things right and respect constituent authority, crying foul when wrong makes them look stupid and ignorant to others, that's not how to be civilised. |

Every level and tier of government in Nigeria are erected with no plan of development for the common man. They just wake up one day and start fixing street light and the next thing in the afternoon, they feel its time to destroy the street light and they start fixing the road. The market and estate that was built yesterday, they conclude that it's to demolish it to give way for mall today |

The most WICKED aspect was that no NOTICES was given. I thinK that Willie GOOFED BIG TIME on this, there wasn't any warning of any kind prior to all these demolitions, and to show you how mean this regime is ,they employed thugs and known criminal elements of every town they visit. May almighty GOD see all the victims through. When one door closes another one opens.
