So unfortunate. There are stuffs some visa holders won't tell the public about the reason behind their visa revocation. If you claimed you'd return to the country at a particular date and you extended it by not notifying the appropriate office while in the US, it could spark the HLS's suspicion and such a visa holder could be on a watch list this could lead to eventual revocation. One of the reports made to the US about Nigerians seeking asylum in Canada is that, once they land in the US, they stay for some time in US to stabilise, after which they'd proceed to Canada through the US/Canada Land border. You said you'd spend just a few days in US and you end up staying longer before returning . It's risky if you don't inform the appropriate authority why you decided to stay longer, even though the immigration would stamp your passport with 6 months stay at the entry post. Again, some visa holders don't have any intention of returning to the country any time soon with their family, including their children who also were issued visa. The husband or wife would travel first to hustle , after which the children would join with spouse after the spouse who first left must have secured accommodation for them in Yankee. Meanwhile, the type of visa they had didn't permit them to emigrate to US, being a NIV. The immigration would monitor this without them knowing. The immigration share information with Airlines so, they know when you entered and also left the country. Visa holders don't know all these. It's very important not to flout visa rules to enable visa holders secure or renew one successfully next time. US isn't Nigeria where the fed govt doesn't know it's country's population and those crossing into Nigeria illegally. They love their people, unlike our govt who care less about Nigerians. |

janellemonae:Apparently, you may have relatives in Canada plus strong ties to Nigeria. Even if you don’t have strong ties to Nigeria, but have relatives in Canada, your visa application will be approved. If you don’t have family in Canada, there is a huge possibility they won’t grant you visa. As a permanent resident in Canada, the visa consulate is oblige to give concrete reason to deny anyone they are sponsoring or inviting. There is also the possibility that the PR can sue them for visa denial. So when giving your advice, I guess you have to be clear about it. Canadian visit visa just got even harder at the moment due to the incessant behavior of Nigerians. That New York route has been in existence for so many years. A lot of Nigerians have used that route to enter Canada and integrate quietly. Canada needs people. They need refugees, but they want it controlled because there is a quota system for all programs and it helps them with planning decisions. Canada also want aliens for odd jobs because not everyone would do such jobs. However, when you have people rushing at your borders non-stop each day, you have to respond and that’s what they just did. Per day it is estimated that over 90 Nigerians enter Canada via the New York route and there have been reported cases of fighting in Refugee camps caused by Nigerians. Also the refugees stories and applications of Nigerians seem very similar and such indicates a “Human Trafficking Ring” that exist in Canada and has ties to Nigeria. So a few bad Nigerians as usual have messed it up for the rest. |

Has this thing happened to 50 people in the space of a month without genuine reason? If this is not the case then why this outcry, when will we move beyond gossip and sentiments? Someone's visit visa was revoked and she's crying uncontrollably, it means she's hiding something, if her intension was ordinary visit then she will look elsewhere to catch fun |

Boss13:I don't know anyone in Canada. I put a hotel address as my residence. Your hotel booking will suffice. The main criteria for refusals are lies, no home ties and bad travel history (like being banned from another country). But no one size fits all, sometimes it's just the officers intuition. Eg. Someone close to retirement age, wt a lot of money in the bank and their kids abroad, might not want to come back home, so might be denied, even if they have good travel history. |

davidadenrele:Amnesty for what is Nigeria on fire? Trump is doing what a leader needs to do, fix stupidity in his country when he spots one. Only countries at war and individuals in trouble can seek refugee status. Nigerians going to Canada to seek refugee status when consular workers are walking freely in Nigeria is ridiculous. Trump just fixed that. |

HungerBAD:Despite all evidence to the contrary, some people still support Buhari despite all the hardships he is pitting the country through. If you are too young to remember ask your parents....the worst economic periods in Nigeria were: 1. During the civil war in Southern Nigeria mostly 2. Buhari's Military regime 3. Abacha's military regime 4. Buhari's civilian regime. No other period in Nigeria came even close to these. Number 1 was a war. Abacha even kept the dollar steady at far less than 100 NGN. But Buhari? Haba Nigerians. People are selling their children, open kidnapping, bandits, herdsmen, boko haram etc and you still want him? International evidence shows Nigerians are running away more than ever. Until people start eating human flesh b4 we agree it's bad? |

Remember one Engineer who said he was returned from US after trump took office? We only heard his sweet story of deportation and millions of Nigerians were busy castigating US. Whereas, this guy was issued a NIV but traveled to US with original copies of his credentials. The CBP discovered this inside his hand luggage during secondary inspection. But the guy never told us this. Invariably, he was going for a greener pasture which isn't a bad thing, had he applied for and issued the appropriate (work permit) visa |

IMASTEX:before nko? You never hear of Reps members who wan yansh some Yankee babe's wey dey work for hotel wey dem Lodge put! This incident took place during the conference US invited them to attend. They thought USA was Nigeria where they could molest, harass, abuse and rape women and get away with it. Those ladies harassed sexually reported them to the appropriate authority and the incident was referred to their Embassy in Nigeria. They subsequently invited them and revoked their visa. |

It is the high number of those crossing into Canada, only to seek for asylum at the border. The Canadian immigration notified the US authorities. The only solution is what you are currently witnessing. ![]() |

HungerBAD:This is nothing new. A visa is not an automatic entry permit to a country. It gets you as far as border and customs. When you get to that point at the port of entry, you still have to demonstrate that you have a legitimate cause to enter the country and a definite plan to leave. If those are not establish, your entry can be barred. The fact that you invite your virtual nairaland friend over to your house does not mean you will open the door for them when they knock on the door. |
